MATTIE ERMA 'PAT" (OLIVER) TATE, 1940

 

MISS MATTIE OLIVER was a WEST WARD teacher in 1940.

Mattie was born November 9, 1899 at Lanham to Shellie Turner Oliver and Olive Adelia "Ollie" (Foster) Oliver.  Mattie taught at West Ward, East Ward, and Ann Whitney Elementary Schools.  After she retired from teaching she was selected at the first librarian when the re-organized Hamilton Library opened in August, 1966.  Mattie was certified both as a teacher and as a librarian.  On November 23, 1950, Mattie married Judge William Eugene Tate.  Mattie died October 22, 1986.
