Accessing the new version of your hosted web site

Step One: Check to see if your RootsWeb site has been restored. This is the new url for your site

http://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/

Make sure you change gearyfamily to your own site name. NOTE: I never received an email that my site had been restored so do not count on it. Not all sites are available yet!  But RootsWeb is working on them.

Step Two: First, you will need to reset your password.

Go to: https://useraccount.rootsweb.com/websites/requestChangePassword

Enter the email address that you used to set up your site.  If you received an email that your site has been restored, use that email. Click on the link and follow the steps to reset your password. Once you have done that, RootsWeb will send you a link you can use to change the password. IMPORTANT NOTE: This password change link will expire in one hour.

You must click the box to accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement at the time you set the new password. Make sure you also keep the new password in a safe place.

Once you have reset your password, you can access your site or sites.

Step Three: File Manager is no longer supported, and RootsWeb will NOT be bringing it back. You may use any FTP client to access the site. This short video will show you how to use FileZilla to access your site. https://www.ancestry.com/academy/course/connect-rootsweb-filezilla

If, like me, you used a web editor to publish your site, in all likelihood IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK.
