In the name of God Amen I ARCHIBALD PETTIFORD of the county of Nash and State of North Carolina being of sound mind
and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain and publish and declare this to be my last will and
testament that is to Say after all my lawful debts are paid and and discharged the residue of my estate real and personal I give and bequeath and dispose of
as follows to wit
to my daughter AVEY the sum of one dollar in money also my daughter TILDA one feather bed and bed clothing for the same and to my daughter DELIA One dollar
and to my Son SMITH PETTIFORD I give and bequeath to him all the residue of my estate both real and personal that I now have or may have at the time of my
decease consisting of the tract of land where I now live bordering on the waters of peachtree creek adjoining the lands of MADDISON SYKES deceased and
ROBBERT RICHARDSON deceased and all my household and kitchen furniture farming tools and Stock and every thing I possess or may possess at the time of my
decease & give to him likewise I make constitute and appoint my Said Son SMITH lawful to be my Executor to this my last will and testament hereby revoking
all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have here unto Subscribed my name and affixed my Seal the Eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord
one Thousand eight hundred and eighty nine.

(Archibald Pettiford, b. 1830, was the son of Bud Pettiford & Rhoda Eatman who were married in Franklin County in 1826. The family lived in Wake
County until shortly before 1850, by which time they had moved to Nash County. Archibald married in 1st on Sept. 27, 1853 in Nash Co., to Elizabeth
Richardson,b. 1833, dau/of Gideon & Peggy Richardson; he married 2nd on May 22, 1889 in Warren Co., to Elizabeth Richardson, b. 1852, dau/of Jesse &
Frances Richardson)
