RICHARDSON FAMILY CHART

Part 1

 
  The following is a recreation of the RICHARDSON Family Tree that was submitted. The original Chart is very large and extensive, much too unwieldy to copy in it's exact format, so I have structured it in an indexed form to make it easier to view each family group. The Tree starts off with John Richardson as the patriarch, but as is known from other records, including the Revolutionary War Pension file and the Will of Benjamin Richardson, these were actually the descendants of Benjamin Richardson, who died in 1809 Halifax County, North Carolina. Benjamin was married to Mary Bass in 1783, but it is obvious from the ages of some of his children that there was a previous marriage to a woman whose name is currently unknown. Not all children are included for each family, and not all individuals are shown as connected to one another, although for anyone doing their research on the families will most likely see which is which, especially when piecing them together with what is already known along with the included Dawes petitions. The chart only includes those who were known to the various petitioners at the time, and most children who had died prior to 1896 were apparently left off.  Some of the things that this chart does tell us is that Benjamin did have a son named John, it confirms that Moses Richardson was also a son, as well as mentions another previously unknown daughter named Sallie, although it leaves out the name of his daughter Nancy, possibly because she had left the area for Kentucky, and later, Ontario, Canada, in the 1840's and may not have been known to many of the family in the 1890's. The same can be said for Hardy Richardson's daughter, Betsy, who although she was listed in the Chart, she also had left the area and moved to Cherokee County, North Carolina in the 1840's, and was probably only known about by a very few family members.
