2. Sarah T.2 McLeod (Robert1) was born 1800 in GA, and died Aft. 1878 in Tangipohoa Parish LA. She married (1) Solomon Bardwell 15 Apr 1819 in Lawrence County MS. She married (2) John Wesley Brewer 26 Oct 1834 in Lawrence County MS, son of John Brewer and Betty Brewer. He was born 1795 in Elbert County GA, and died 21 Apr 1857 in Lawrence County MS.
Notes for Sarah T. McLeod:
She was last spouse and widow of John W. Brewer. A war of 1812 pension of $8 monthly was approved on December 18, 1878 to be effective from March 9, 1878. She was 83 years old when applying. Don't know how long she lived after that.
Notes for John Wesley Brewer:
John Wesley Brewer's birth year, 1795, is established from census records and from two affidavits he made in connection with bounty land claims for his war service. The earliest record of him found so far is his enlistment in the Georgia Militia company from Elbert County and the enlistment date is 21 November 1814. The company was commanded by Captain Gaines Thompson and was part of Colonel David S. Booth's 4th Regiment. John was discharged at Fort Hawkins, near Milledgeville, GA, on 5 May 1815 and returned home. He was married in Clarke County in November 1816. By late 1817 he was in Mississippi along with his wife's family. They settled in Lawrence county where he remained until his death. His brother LeRoy also showed up in Mississippi at about the same time. LeRoy's descendant, Earl Leroy Brewer, became a governor of the state. John's first wife, Jane Fenn, was the mother of all of his children. John's third wife, Sarah McCloud Bardwell Brewer moved to Tangipahoa Parish, LA, sometime after John's death. She received a pension of $8 monthly for John's war service. John's name was given as John W. in his military record, his first marriage license and in census records. It was given as John Wesley in his father's will. The proof that these are one man is a land grant 10 Nov 1840 to "John Wesley Brewer of Lawrence County Mississippi."
