James was the second of at least 10 children born to John and Mary (Sloan) Love. Along with his parents and some of his siblings, James moved from Barren County KY to Sumner County KS sometime before 1900.

Mrs. James Love Taken in Death
Passes in Local Hospital Sunday Night Following Illness of a Year
Mrs. James Love, 78, a resident of Wellington for thirty-one years, died at the Hatcher hospital where she had been confined for ten days, Sunday night at 9:35. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Born in Kentucky, she came to Kansas 46 years ago. For a number of years she resided in Milan, but since 1908 she has lived in Wellington. Her residence was at 715 South Washington avenue.
Mrs. Love was a member of the First Christian Church and the work of the church was a major interest of her life. She was a deaconess of the church, a member of the Loyal Womens class, the South End circle, and a regular attendance at church services.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Delia Beard, Milan, and the following nieces and nephews. Miss Elizabeth Horde, Milan; Miss Hattie Hayes, Smith Grove, Ky., Miss Lelia Bowles, Cincinnati, Ohio, Miss Flora Love, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Ola Creacy, Horse Cave, Ky., Miss Connie White, Glasgow, Ky., and C. W. Bowles, Twin Falls, Idaho. Her husband preceded her in death in 1923.
Funeral services will be held at the first Christian church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. L.F. Sargent, pastor, officiating.
The body will lie in state at the Frank Funeral Home this evening. It will be taken to the home 715 South Washington at 9 o�clock on Tuesday morning where friends may call. Burial will be in Praire Lawn cemetery.
