| Notes for Mary Slade | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Birth and death sources: Ohio County Cemetery Records book at the Ohio County, Kentucky library Buried in Shady Creek Cemetery Father could be Samuel Slade *** Mary Slade was from Newberry, North Carolina. In Cindy's database, I had only seen her birthplace listed as Craven Co., NC. Do we know anything about the Slades? In my paper, Mary Slade Taylor's death date is Feb. 15, 1810. In Cindy's database, it is listed as the same date, but in 1840. I have no special reason to prefer 1810. Is this date in the Joseph Taylor family Bible? *** Some of the notes I have marked as from Corinne Taylor Gregory are signed "Fred", which I take to be Frederick Hawkins Taylor, her brother. Since CTG died in 1992, according to the handwritten notes, it wouldn't be a violation of privacy to give her address from a letter in 1981. Mrs. Corinne T. Gregory Route 3, 1235 Reed Avenue Beaver Dam, Kentucky 42320 I would be especially interested in finding more out about the book Mrs. Gregory is supposed to have written, _Once Along the Trails_. It contains material about the Moses Taylor family, including the remark about having big ears. The "Ferguson," below, who married Sally Taylor, is supposed to be a descendant of Joseph Taylor, Sr., via "Mildred Ferguson." I don't know how that could be. Some notes same that Vade (Wade?) Hawkins is a cousin of Susannah Hawkins. LAT Taylor, John Robert (1836-1906) m. Martin, Delilah Ann (1843-) Taylor, Mary Rapalio (?-) Taylor, Elizabeth Catherine (1882-1945) m. McCoy, John E. (1914-) (2nd marriage) Pufferburger, John (1920-) *** Slade will abstracts: Joseph Slade- 1764-lists Ann (wife), William, Harmon, Benjamin, Joseph, and Mary. The above could be a possible connection. Family history has it that Mary had a brother named William, records show that our Mary was born in 1766. If that is the case, the affore mentioned Mary is too old. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
