| Notes for Darcas Beesley |
| I do not have a John McLean; if you meant him to be John McLean Beesley I could not dispute that because I cannot readily defend the middle initial T. McLean (McLain) was in the woodpile somewhere because it shows up as given names in later generations after Calvin and Darcas. An interesting thing about Dacas. She was 24 and Calvin was 19 when they married. According to a Deed, Darcas bought 300 acres for $200 when she was age 18. Where did she get the money? Of course she "bought' it from, what appears to be, surviving husband of her great aunt Polly Taylor Taylor (d/o Moses) who's husband was Peter Taylor (unknown Taylor line). Part of the land was the property that Calvin donated for Barnetts Lick church and cemetery. Her will passed this property on to her children with Calvin (this being his first marriage). (I have changed the spelling of Dorcas. Darcas, Dorcus, Darcus, etc. so much that there is a hole in the paper. The deed clearly has it as Darcas and it was witnessed by her father, John Beesley, and Wiley R. Beesley.) 5 |
