| Notes for Bethsady "Sady" G. Stephens |
| Hi Cindy, I D/L the Moses Taylor Sr. file this morning. I have FTM. I wanted to give you an addition, for the file. I have the Madison County Court record of Bethsady Stephens. She gave a deposition to the commissioner concerning her parents death and the activities of John Duncan who killed them. I also sent a copy of these deposition to to Mary Salisbury just recently. She said she didn't know about the depositions taken the day of the murders. In this deposition Bethsadie' s name was Bethsady Granbury Stephens. Also I believe that Humphrey was the oldest child. In the depositions I have and the confession of John Duncan he said he killed John (Jackey) first while the boy went home for an axe to get a rabbit out of a hole. Then he killed the boy when he came back. Then later he killed Elizabeth and the little boy at the same time. Their bodies would have been close together. In the deposition of Gabriel Stephens he said he came through the woods and found Humphrey Stephens lying dead in the woods. He apparently was killed alone, so that would indicate that Humphrey was the one who went for the axe. He would have been the oldest boy who went with Jackey and John Duncan to the woods....That is my thinking on the ages of the boys. Does that make sense?
