"He is probably the James MEEKS, born about 1756, who was drafted inEdgecombe Co. in 17 8 2 , aged 26, as a resident of Nash Co. (NorthCarolina Genealogy, p. 752), although I do n o t fi nd him in Nashrecords. He may be the James MEEKS who married in Craven Co., bond 6A p r 179 2 Sarah HALL, with David TERRY bondsman. James' estate wasadministered in Craven i n 1 802 b y his widow Sally, who marriedsecondly Jesse HUGHES. Left one son, James, stil l a min or i n 1818.Another James MEEKS was apparently in Chatham Co. in 1800."
