Notes for Britton Meeks
In 1850 Britton was living with his youngest son, Hosea, in MeriwetherCounty, Ga.
Quoting from Brittain's pension application; "First that he was born18 Nov 1763 in Pitt Count y , State of North Carolina, has record ofhis age in an original entry in an old Bible now i n his possession, was raised and lived there until grown, after marriage there and after the Revolution removed to Anson County same state where he resided upwards of twenty years. Removed from there in 1816 to Jones County, State of Georgia where he resided one year, removed then into Baldwin County said state, removed then to Gwinnett County same state in 1820 where he resided until February 1831 when he removed to this county (Meriwether)."
From Brittain/Britton downward the data is my data merged in, onlybecause it is broader in sc ope, not because it is more correct. Infact all caps is the biggest difference.
FYI: I use Britton simply because all those in his line that are named after him use Britton e xcept for one. Brittain is probably correct but in my personal database four different spellings was confusing.(GCH)
