John B. RINER was born Jan 30, 1802. His name appears on a list ofthe first settlers o f E m anuel County ("Emanuel Memories", pg. 4). Amale in his age group was listed with his mo th e r in Emanuel Countyduring the 1820 and 1830 censuses. He married Temperance "Tempy" MEEK S . They were farming in Emanuel County during the 1840 and 1850censuses. John's name w a s o n the petit jury list for Emanuel Countyon April 19, 1841, and again in April 1843. H i s nam e was drawn forpetit jury duty in April 1849, and on April 20, 1852 ("EmanuelSuperio r "). Te mpy was a charter member of Sardis Primitive BaptistChurch (constituted May 7, 1853 ) . John' s name was drawn for petitjury duty in June, 1859, in Johnson county. They were far m ing, between his nephews, Adam BENTON and James L. NEAL, in Johnson Countyduring the 186 0 c ensus. Th ey were farming, between his brothers,William and James Russell RINER, in Johns o n County dur ing the 1870census. John died before the 1880 census and is probably burie d i n anunmarked g rave in Old Riner Cemetery in Meeks. Then, Tempy wasfarming, between her b ro ther-in-law, Jam es Russell RINER, and niece,Sarah Ann BEASLEY, in Johnson County during t h e 1900 census. Tem pydied April 23, 1902, and is buried in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church C emetery.
