Elizabeth was the second daughter and fourth child of Thomas Meeks.Her mother was apparentl y Pollie Goalden (Goodspeed 1890: 333).Elizabeth was born on 22 April 1839. It is not clea r whether she wasborn in Independence or Hot Spring County. On 29 November 1854 shemarried t o Elijah Richardson. On 30 November 1856, ElizabethRichardson and Thomas Meeks are listed a s administrators of the estateof Elijah Richardson. On 14 December, 1858, Elizabeth then marr iedJohn Nolan McElhannon who had recently moved to Arkansas from Georgia.John had three son s (Hezekiah C., Elijah N., John W.) by a previousmarriage. John and Elizabeth McElhannon liv ed in the Ebenezercommunity, Terre Noir Township, in Clark County. On 19 June 1909Elizabet h applied for a pension on John's service in the Confederatemilitary during the Civil War. T he application was approved that sheshould be allowed a $100 pension. Elizabeth died on 28 J anuary 1919.
