Louisa Jane Meeks was born in September, 1844, the eighth child ofThomas Meeks. She had rela ted her experiences during the Civil War toa grandson. "She remembered that her mother was o rdered by the UnionMen to lock herself and the children in one room. She put theirsilverwar e inside feather beds; then when the battle was over, theyfound several dead soldiers who ha d crawled inside to die". (Jackson1986) On 1st February 1866 Louisa Jane Meeks was married t o D. N.Moore of Hollywood(Clark County) by A. L. Weir. In 1879, D. N. andLouisa Moore move d to Fannin County, Texas.
