DAVID W. DEAN
Was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, in 1831, and remained there until 1852.
In that year he went to the town of Bluffton, Mills county, Indiana, and
served in the capacity of deputy county clerk for one year. He then returned
to Ohio and remained until 1854, when he married Miss Sarah C. Deal, who
was also born in 1831. In 1856 Mr. Dean moved with his family to Illinois,
and settled in Atlas township, Pike county, on section 23, and engaged in
farming. Here he remained until 1867, when he sold out and purchased a very
valuable farm on section 13, in the same township, where he now resides,
in very comfortable circumstances. A view of his fine residence and farm

Henry Dean, the father of David, was born in Pennsylvania in
the year 1784. His wife's maiden name was Susannah Kyser, and she was born
in Kentucky in 1794.
Mr. Dean has always been engaged in farming and stock raising,
and he is one of the most successful farmers of Pike county. He has many
warm friends in his neighborhood, and is called one of old Pike's good citizens.
