Hognaston village photos -1
 back to Hognaston

I finally visited Hognaston on the Jubilee weekend to take some photos.
This first page is religious buildings, the following page is village scenes.

St Batholomew's Church, dating in parts back to the 12thC, is in the centre of the village.

My family here was called BOWN and although early gravestones are very worn and illegible I found a few later BOWNs such as this.

Opened in 1882 as an Independent Church, it later became a Congregational Chapel then a United Reformed Chapel before closing at the end of 1999. It has just been converted to a house.

This Primitive Methodist Chapel was opened in 1898 to replace an earlier Chapel (1827) which had stood on the same site. It was converted into a private house after being sold about 20 years ago.
