Godfrey Shew (circa 1734 - 1805), Northern New York State Pioneer, & his Descendants. He raised his family at Fish House, Town of Northampton in what was first Tryon Co., next Montgomery Co., & later Fulton Co., NY. Many family members also moved to Jefferson Co., NY. - Home Page

Many thanks to Pat Cohen for research on Joel Shew & Marie Barney & their families, Betty Gay for info on Godfrey & Henry Shew, Pat K Pyle for info on the Charles A Shew line, Victoria Windsor for research on many lines, and many others who have communicated by email.

In the menu at the top of each webpage are listed Pioneer German immigrant Godfrey Shew (Sr) & his 4 sons who each lived to raise a family, representing the 4 major family lines. They settled at Fish House, NY in 1762 (first Albany, then Tryon, then Montgomery & now Fulton County). Major migration patterns later were to Jefferson & Cattauragus Counties in NY, Michigan, Wisconsin, California, & Connecticut, Delaware, & Iowa.
