BLANCHARD AND ANTOINE

BLANCHARD AND ANTOINE FAMILIES

Our newest research has turned up a connection to Canada. These families originated in Ontario and (we think) Quebec. The Blanchard's (full blooded Cree's probably from the Hudson Bay area) immigrated to the United States when Elsie decided that she was sick of the cold and packed their belongings in a canoe and paddled south. Research shows their two sons born in MA & CT, but eventually they settled in Queens, NY. The Antoines originated in Devil Lake, Quebec and eventually moved to Sharbot Lake, Ontario. Three of the children of this family moved to NY in the early 1920's. Thus, young Elizabeth Antoine married Frederick Blanchard in Queens, NY in 1927. The Antoines have a rich heritage in Ontario. John Antoine was a well respected, intelligent friend and father who had a deep appreciation for nature. He was a Chippewan Indian and fathered 10 children whose descendants remain in the Sharbot Lake area.

We are just beginning this research. You can see our most recent information on the main page under the surname link. Below are documents and links of interest regarding these families.
