Joseph P. Goins and Mary Elizabeth Cole Goins were residents of Hutchins, Texas in 1892. Their son, William Cecil Goins was born there September 4, 1892, according to his death certificate.  He was married about 1918, wife's name Winnie Lee.

 

William Cecil Goins and Winnie Lee Goins received a warranty deed from Eddie Ruth Dennard to a lot in Block 5 of Ferguson Place Addition of Gladewater, Texas January 27, 1958, according to Gregg County Deed Book 516, page 293.

 

William Cecil Goins, "white, male, married, died July 23, 1965 of myocardial infarction" in Gladewater, Texas after a 31-year residency there, according to Gregg County Death Certificate No. 10881. He was buried in Southland Cemetery, Grand Prairie, Texas.

 

Winnie Lee Goins gave a warranty deed to Lot 15, Block 5, Shepard Hills Addition of Gladewater to Aubrey L. Price June 29, 1968, according to Gregg County Deed Book 743, page 30.

Joshua V. B. Goins, negro, is believed to have been born in Ohio January 1, 1844. He was married about 1878, wife's name Mollie. "Joshua Goins" who served in an Ohio infantry company during the Civil War, later lived in Waxahachie, Texas. "J. Goins," negro preacher, believed to be Joshua V. B. Goins, was listed in the 1875 city directory of Dallas living at 116 Juliette.

 

Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, "negro minister of the gospel," performed a wedding May 25, 1882 and another December 17, 1899 in Ellis County, Texas.  Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins lived at 417 Robbin, Houston, Texas, in 1903, according to the city directory of Houston.  Two people composed the household.  In the 1905-06 edition of the directory he was listed as the presiding elder of the Brenham AME Church.

 

Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins died January 14, 1907 and was buried in the Waxahachie Cemetery.  Mollie Goins later returned to Dallas to make her residence.  She wrote her will there June 28, 1927, naming sons, Austin Goins and Joshua Goins.  Mentioned in her will were her grandchildren,

Julius Goins, May Ella Goins and Lillian Goins.  Witnesses were Ludie Austin and Bessie Richie.

Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr, believed to be the first child of Joshua V. B. Goins and Mollie Goins was born June 5, 1879, place unknown. On November 14, 1918 Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. and B. J. Goins, assumed to be his wife, Beulah J. Goins, received a deed from H. M. Jackson to Lot 1, Block 2, Division B, Austin, Texas, according to Travis County Deed Book 305, page 319. On August 23, 1922 they sold the property to H. D. Dear, according to Travis County Deed Book 337, page 180.

 

Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. received a release from H. M. Jackson December 13, 1921 to Lot 56. Block 2, Division B. Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 333, page 598. On August 23, 1922 Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. gave a mechanics lien to H. D. Dear on five acres of land, according to Travis County Deed Book 333, page 463.

 

In the 1924 edition of the Austin city directory, Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. appeared as "presiding elder Temple District, AME with address at 12157 San Bernard. The address remained the same for the next 25 years. In the 1924 edition "Vernie J. Goins" unidentified, appeared in the household at 1157 San Bernard. She was listed as a teacher at Olive Street High School. She reappeared in the same listing in the 1927 and 1928 editions.

 

On May 4, 1926 "B. J. Goins," assumed to be Beulah J. Goins, received a release from W. S. Drake to Lots 1 and 2, Block 56B, according to Travis County Deed Book 387, page 472.

 

On March 22, 1930 they received a deed from W. E. Keesee to one acre of land at Sealy, Texas, according to Travis County Deed Book 450, page 159.  In the 1930 and 1932 editions of the Austin city directory she appears as a teacher in the Olive Street School living at 1157 San Bernard.

 

Beulah J. Goins received a deed from Trini M. Silba to Lot 5, Block 3B, Austin, September 4, 1931, according to Travis County Deed Book 472, page 33.  She received a deed from Jacob Schutterle November 16, 1933 to Lots 4 & 5, Block 4B, Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 496, page 577.

She received a deed of trust from Ted Wentlandt March 27, 1936, to Lot 5, Block 3D, Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 537, page 280.  They received a deed from Paul O. Simms December 27, 1940 to Lot 1, Block 2B,  Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 661, page 428.

 

On October 24, 1944 Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. and Beulah J. Goins received a deed from J. M. Johnson to Lot 9, Block 44, Manor, Texas, according to Travis County Deed Book 749, page 92.

 

She gave a deed to Lot 45, Block 38B, Austin, to Asilea Campbell March 7, 1945, according to Travis County Deed Book 752, page 551. On March 21, 1946 she received a deed to Lot 79 Glen Acres Addition, Austin, from Walter Grieg, according to Travis County Deed Book 793, page 251.  She received a deed from Daisy Walker November 3, 1947 to Lot 6, Block 15B, Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 963, page 265.

 

In 1947, Beulah J. Goins was listed as the treasurer of the Order of Eastern Star of Texas with residence at 1157 San Bernard, according to the Austin city directory. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. was listed as "AME Church."

 

She gave a deed to Bessie M. Carter November 19, 1947 to Lot 5, Block 3B, Austin, according to Travis County Deed Book 871, page 567. On July 12, 1948 she  deeded Block 79, Glen Oaks Addition to Children's Haven Association, according to Travis County Deed Book 914, page 247.

 

In 1949 Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. was listed in the city directory of Austin as the pastor of A. M. E. Church.

 

On January 12, 1950 Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr., and Beulah J. Goins gave a deed to Lot 5, Block 3B, Austin, to Dora Thompson, according to Travis County Deed Book 1021, page 190.

 

On April 22, 1954 Beulah J. Goins gave a deed to Lot 79, Glen Oaks Addition to E. E. Nauman, according to Travis County Deed Book 1447, page 348.

 

On June  8, 1955  Beulah J.  Goins, president of Children's Haven Association, gave an affidavit to the public, according to Travis County Deed Book 1591, page 326.

 

From 1952 forward the residence of Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr., and Beulah J. Goins was listed as 2015 Manor Road, according to the Austin city directory.  Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. gave a quit claim deed to Vivian L. Morris April 2, 1958 to Lot 10, Block 11B, according to Travis County Deed Book 1914, page 48.  He gave a deed to Lot 1, Block 2B, Austin to Annie Hillery, November 10, 1958, according to Travis County Deed Book 1971, page 20.  He gave a deed to the same property to Mattie Dodson Hudson January 2, 1962, according to Travis County Deed Book 2402, page 216.

 

Beulah J. Goins died January 16, 1964 leaving an estate valued at $52,271.77, according to Travis County Probate File 25505. She was born August 22, 1882 and lived to be 81. Her husband was named executor and retained his residence at 2015 Manor Road, Austin.

 

Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. died February 2, 1966 at age 86, leaving an estate valued at $40,000, according to Travis County Probate File N. 28012. He continued to live at 2015 Manor Road at the time of his death.

 

Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. had no children according to the probate record, but had adopted Ima Gladys Dudley, the daughter of Roy Dudley, September 9, 1924.  Ima Gladys Dudley was born December 2, 1919.  Ima Gladys Dudley Goins appeared in the household of the Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr. at 1157 San

Bernard as a student in the 1937 city directory of Austin.  Ima Gladys Dudley Goins was cashier for the "Austin Informer" in 1941, according to the Austin city directory.She had married Roger Clinton Runnells and lived in Dallas, Texas in 1966. 

 

The will of Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr., listed five nieces and nephews as heirs and provided that $500 of the estate would go to each of them.

J. Cicero {or Sisero} Goins, negro, regarded as the son of Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins and Mollie Goins, was born about 1880.  He and his wife, Anna Liza Goins, received a deed from John D. Fields April 4, 1894 to Lots 9 & 10, Block 46, Manor, Texas, according to Travis County Deed Book 133, page 84.

 

J. Cicero Goins was a trustee of the Colored Knights of Pythias Hall at Manor, according to Travis County Deed Book 166, page 257.  He participated in a real estate transaction for the lodge April 15, 1902.  Anna Liza Goins, daughter of Carolina Johnson, father unknown, was born May 29, 1865 in Abingdon Parish, Virginia.

 

J. Cicero Goins died in 1903, probably at Manor, according to Travis County Deed Book 3766, page 1612.

 

Anna Liza Goins gave an acknowledgement to Thomas Goggan & Bro. July 6, 1904 regarding Lots 1 & 2, Block 46, Manor, according to Travis County Deed Book 181, page 320. Apparently Anna Liza Goins moved to Austin about 1911.

She received a deed to Lot 1, Block 4, Crow Addition from E. J. Hofheinz for $225 on March 10, 1911, according to Travis County Deed Book 247, page 299.

 

She received a deed from Hall Hailey to Lots 23 & 24, Block 41, Division B, Austin, January 3, 1920, according to Travis County Deed Book 316, page 46.  On February 25, 1919 she gave a deed to Hal Hailey to the Crow Addition property, according to Travis County Deed Book 306, page 510.  Anna Liza Goins appeared in the 1920 city directory of Austin as a laundress living at 1153 San Bernard, adjacent to the home of Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr, regarded as her brother-in-law.

 

In 1922, she appeared as a cook living at that same address.  In the 1924 city directory of Austin Anna Liza Goins appeared as a cook living at 907 East 13th Street, an address she maintained for the next 32 years. She received a release to the property from Hal Hailey July 20, 1925, according to Travis County Deed Book 376, page 183.  In 1922 and 1924, Carrie L. Goins, negro student at Samuel Huston College, lived at

1203 East Avenue in the home of Anna Liza Goins.

 

She received a deed from Charley Lee January 7, 1926 to Lots 9 and 10, Block 46, Manor, property she and J. Cicero Goins has originally purchased in 1894, according to Travis County Deed Book 383, page 79. Anna Liza Goins gave a deed to her property in Manor to Mattie Lee February 15, 1930, according to Travis County Deed Book 448, page 38.

 

Anna Liza Goins, age 89, was listed as non compus mentis in 1954, according to Travis County Probate File 16404. Her daughter, Roxie D. Goins Leslie, was appointed her guardian, and James C. Goins, her son, was appointed surety.

 

Anna Liza Goins died July 15, 1956, of a cerebral vascular accident, according to Travis County Death Certificate 10260. She was 91. Anna Liza Goins had appeared in the Austin city directory at 907 East 13th Street each year until her death.  She was listed as a cook, laundress, and a maid.

He joined his brothers and sisters in deeding their interest in Lots 9 and 10, Block 46, Manor to his mother December 23, 1920, according to Travis County Deed Book 327, page 223.  He was a resident of Harris County, Texas, at that time; he died in 1926 as a single man.

 

James C. Goins, assumed to be the second child of J. Cicero Goins and Anna Liza Goins, was born about 1891. He was married to Estrella Drake January 5, 1915, according to Bexar County, Texas Marriage Book 7, page 302.

 

They received a warranty deed from D. D. Harrigan July 17, 1918 to Lot E, Block B, NCB631, San Antonio, Texas, according to Bexar County Deed Book 543, page 107.  He joined his brothers and sisters in deeding his interest in Lots 9 and 10, Block 46, Manor to his mother December 23, 1920, according to Travis County Deed Book 327, page 223. He was a resident of Bexar County at that time.

 

James C. Goins and Estrella Drake Goins gave a warranty deed to G. W. Bouldin September 6, 1924, according to Bexar County Deed Book 786, page 260.  An Ester Goins, possibly Estrella Drake Goins, appeared in the 1932-33 city directory as a domestic, living at 304 Washington Street.

 

Estrella Drake Goins sued James C. Goins for a divorce in 1954, but the case was dropped.  James C. Goins died December 28, 1957, according to Bexar County Deed Book 4229, page 339 and BVS File 6546.  Estrella Drake Goins gave an affidavit to the public October 16, 1969, according to Travis County Deed Book 3766, page 1612.

 

One child was born to James C. Goins and Estrella Drake Goins and she lived only three weeks.  She was identified as Ella Jay Weise Goins.

Benjamin Trigg "Toby" Goins, fourth child of J. Cicero Goins and Anna Liza Goins, was born in 1896 in Manor.  He, a janitor, enlisted in the 23rd Engineers Service Company in World War I on April 3, 1918 at age 21, at Austin.  He served in the American Expeditionary Force in France from June 30, 1918 to June 30, 1919, according to Travis County Discharge Book 1, page 265.  He was discharged July 3, 1919. a single man. In 1920 he was listed as a porter for Austin Goodyear Company and lived at 1153 San Bernard, near the residence of Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr, believed to be a kinsman, according to the Austin city directory.

 

He joined his brothers and sisters in deeding the family home to his mother December 23, 1920, according to Travis County Deed Book 327, page 223.

 

In 1922 Benjamin Trigg "Toby" Goins appeared in the Austin city directory as a porter for Bohn Brothers and continued to live at 1153 San Bernard, according to the directory.  He reappeared in the 1924 and 1927 city directory as a deliveryman for Bohn Brothers and lived with his mother at 907 East 13th Street.

 

In 1929 he was listed as a deliveryman for Stebbins & James, continuing to live in his mother's residence.  In the 1930-31 city directory he was listed as a porter for Jud S. James and lived at 907 East 13th street.  He died March 16, 1932.

 

Guybrett Goins, fifth child of J. Cicero Goins and Anna Liza Goins, was born about 1098 at Manor. She joined her brothers and sisters December 23, 1920 in deeding her interest in the family home to her mother, according to Travis County Deed Book 327, page 223.

 

She appeared as a laundress living at 1153 San Bernard, near the residence of Rev. Joshua V. B. Goins, Jr, believed to be a kinsman, according to the 1920 city directory of Austin. This was the address of her mother.

 

 She was married June 3, 1922 to James E. Mosley, according to Travis County Marriage Book 24, page 457. Guybrett Goins Mosley died in 1933 in San Diego, California leaving one son, Tom Mosley.

 

The sixth child of J. Cicero Goins and Anna Liza Goins died at birth about 1899.

 

Roxie D. Goins, seventh child of J. Cicero Goins and Anna Liza Goins, was born April 24, 1900 at Manor, according to Travis County Birth Certificate 7929.  She appeared in the 1920 city directory of Austin living with her sister, Guybrett Goins at 1153 San Bernard. she was listed as a laundress.

 

She was married October 25, 1919 under the name of Josephine Goins, to Crawford Walker. according to Travis County Marriage Book 22, page 489. In 1920 they joined in deeding her interest in the family home at Manor to her mother, according to Travis County Deed Book 327, page 223. On August 4, 1928, Roxie D. Goins Walker was married to Eugene Tucker, according to Travis County Marriage Book 29, page 61.  Before 1954, she had married a man named Leslie.  Roxie D. Goins Walker Leslie was appointed her mother's guardian in 1954.  Later she was remarried and her husband's name was Tucker.

 

In 1969 Roxie D. Goins Walker Leslie Tucker was a widow living in the home previously occupied by her mother at 907 East 13th Street, Austin.

Wood Mize Goin purchased several lots in the newly-founded town of Channing, Hartley County, Texas, April 29, 1909 from J. W. Allen. Wood Mize Goin paid $2,750 for several lots in the town which 65 years later had still not developed. He was a resident of Aubrey, Texas at that time.

 

On October 19, 1915 he purchased a lot in Arlington, Texas from his brother, George Albert Goin for $400, according to Tarrant County Texas Deed Book 465, page 179.  They sold the property in Arlington, Texas February 4, 1920, according to Tarrant County, Texas Deed Book 639, page 43. They continued to live at Aubrey at that time.

 

Wood Mize Goin died February 6, 1947, at age 76, according to Denton County Death Book 9, page 7.  Laura Jane Harmon Goin died October 7, 1953 in Denton County, according to BVS File 50410.

In 1965 he operated Bill's Filtering Service, and she was employed as a bookkeeper at First National Bank.  In 1966 he was again employed as a mechanic, and the couple lived at 1507 E. 43rd Street.

 

Billie Paul Goan died November 6, 1966 of a myocardial infarction and was buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, according to Ector County Death Book 112, page 585.  Helyn Marie Goan continued to live at 1507 E. 43rd Street until 1968 and then moved to 3117 N. Jackson Street. In 1973 she continued with First National Bank as a secretary.

In 1960 the couple moved to 2800 Redbud and continued there until 1963. In 1961 Kitty Ellen Goin was listed in the city directory as an accounting clerk for Medical Center Hospital living at 2800 Redbud.  Apparently the couple was divorced. On September 8, 1961 Kitty Ellen Goin was married to Von Lee Lewis, according to Ector County Marriage Book 17, page 181.

McKinney.  He was married to Dorothy Marie Zubicek February 26, 1966 at Midland, according to Midland County Marriage Book 17, page 478. From 1965 to 1972 he was shown to be a sales representative for Gus-tin-Bacon Manu-facturing Co.  From 1965 through 1971 he and Dorothy Marie Zubicek Goin lived at 3803 N. Ever-glade.

Elbert G. Goins was a porter for H. Brann & Company in Ft. Worth in 1912-13, according to the city directory.  He resided at 1000 Morgan with his wife, Maggie M. Johnson Goins and Belle Goins, assumed to be a daughter. From 1912 until 1934 the family maintained its home at 1100 White.  In 1918, the last year that Elbert G. Goins appeared in the directory, he was a porter for J. B. Davidson. He wrote his will December 19, 1922 and died August 30, 1923 at age 40, leaving a $1,500 estate to his widow.

 

Maggie M. Johnson Goins continued at 1100 White until 1934, working for various hotels and cafes in Ft. Worth.  She gave a warranty deed to the City of Ft. Worth May 29, 1934 to a lot in Lake Park Addition, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 1212, page 513.

 

Belle Goins lived at 110 Elm Street in 1918, 1100 White in 1920 and in 1923-24 lived at 1201 Humboldt.  She received a warranty deed from L. C. Bruner January 3, 1921 to a lot in McConnell Addition in Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 667, page 47. She continued there in 1925 when she paid off the property.

He was married to Letha Ola Leverett August 4, 1907, according to Erath County Marriage Book, page 309.  Letha Ola Leverett was born September 27, 1886 in Alabama.  She was the daughter of A. G. Leverett and Sarah Armstrong Leverett, both natives of Alabama.

 

Corn L. Goin and Letha Ola Leverett Goin moved to Donley County, Texas about 1908 and operated a farm located one mile east of Clarendon, Texas. 

 

Corn L. Goin was struck by lightning in 1948 and it contributed to his death six years later.  He died July 3, 1954 of coronary thrombosis, cerebral hemorrhage and lightning shock, according to Donley County death records.  He was buried in Citizens Cemetery, Clarendon.

 

Letha Ola Leverett Goin received a deed to property in Donley County July 9, 1954 from Lois Goin Rains, believed to be her daughter, according to Donley County Deed Book 101, page 228.

 

Letha Ola Leverett Goin died in Potter County, Texas July 29, 1957, according to BVS File No. 4585.  She died at age 70 at her home at 1953 Marrs, Amarillo, Texas of coronary arteriosclerosis. She also was buried in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.

 

It is believed that children born to Corn L. Goin and Letha Ola Leverett Goin include:

 

          Lois Goin                                                           born about 1912.

 

Lois Goin, regarded as a daughter of Corn L. Goin and Letha Ola Leverett Goin, was born about 1912.  She was married to Charles Rains at Hedley, Texas December 27, 1931, according to Donley County Marriage Book 4, page 88.

 

Minnie Pearl Goin, third child of Maston Alexander Goin and Annie Belle Roberts Goin, was born in Erath County June 10, 1889, according to Erath County Birth Book 114, page 191.  Her birth record was prepared from an affadavit furnished by George Alexander Goin, Claude, Texas on February 6, 1954 and Eunice Gryder, Lynn County, Texas February 17, 1954.

 

"Pearl Goin" was married to F. L. Segars September 19, 1906, according to Erath County Marriage Book K, page 152.

 

George Alexander Goin, fifth child of Maston Alexander Goin and Annie Belle Roberts Goin, was born September 9, 1898 at Stephenville, Texas, according to his birth certificate recorded in Erath County Birth Book 14, page 206.  Informant for this entry was Mrs. Rena Howell, Dalhart, Texas.

 

About 1920 he was married to Dovie Ozella Jamar, the daughter of Larkin Aquilla Jamar and Frances Elizabeth Weatherly Jamar.  Dovie Ozella Jamar was born July 3, 1901 at Guthrie, Oklahoma.

 

For many years, they farmed at Hedley and Goodnight, Texas.  On June 3, 1943 George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin received a warranty deed to seven lots from C. K. and Pearl Howe in Claude, Texas for $600, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 47, page 36.  They gave a warranty deed to J. R. Porter February 23, 1952 to three lots in Claude, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 56, page 69.

 

George Alexander Goin died at Amarillo Air Force Base Hospital February 2, 1956, according to BVS File 974.

 

Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin was appointed administratrix of the estate by Armstrong County Court, according to Armstrong County Probate Book 10, pages 69-75. The estate consisted of a 1949 Plymouth, 4 lots in Claude and furniture, totaling $6,200.

 

Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin received a bill of sale from James Jamar Goin, her son, July 12, 1956, according to Armstrong County Bill of Sale Book 2, page 225.  Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin received a cemetery deed for $150 from the Claude Cemetery Association on August 7, 1958, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 32A, page 41.

 

Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin gave a warranty deed to Maggie Wisdom September 29, 1959 to two lots in Claude for $600, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 65, page 310.

 

Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin died February 18, 1964 of a cerebral hemorrhage, according to Armstrong County Death Book 5, page 180. She was buried in Claude Cemetery.

 

Larry Wendell Goin, her son, was appointed as executor of the estate valued at $6,753.21, according to Armstrong County Probate Book 11, page 352.

George Elec Goin, first child of George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin was born January 28, 1921.  He died December 29, 1938 of an accidental gunshot wound at age 17.  He had lived for 13 years at Goodnight, Texas and was buried there, according to Armstrong County Death Book 4, page 23.

 

Jimmie Don Goin, second child of George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin, was born March 28, 1923, at Hedley.

 

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy March 28, 1944 and served aboard the USS Yarnall, DD541, USS ABSD #7, USS Otawa and the USS President Hayes in the Asiatic Theatre.  He was discharged January 7, 1948 as a Watertender First Class, according to Armstrong County, Texas, Discharge Book 2, page 399.

 

Jimmie Don Goin was married to Miss Nadine E. Judd December 7, 1948, according to Armstrong County Marriage Book 3, page 95.  "Jimmie Goin" appeared in the 1951 city directory of Amarillo as an employee of Amarillo Smelting & Refining Company.  In 1953 and 1954 Jimmy Don Goin was in the U.S. Navy and his wife, Nadine E. Judd Goin, lived in Amarillo at 608 Hayden in 1953 and at 1006 North Garfield. in 1954.

 

 They received a deed April 17, 1954 to Lot 10, Block 5, North High Subdivision, Amarillo, Texas, according to Potter County Deed Book 663, page 437. On August 2, 1963, Jimmy Don Goin and Nadine E. Judd Goin gave a warranty deed to Wylie C. Fuller for the Potter County property, according to Potter County Deed Book 955, page 695.

 

In 1964 Jimmy Don Goin and Nadine E. Judd Goin lived in Mesa, Arizona. In 1967 they were residents of Tarrant County, Texas.

 

"Jimmie D. Goin" was married to Winnifred D. Thornton August 2, 1973, according to Tarrant County Marriage Book 166, page 637. Of Jimmie Don Goin and Winnifred D. Thornton Goin, nothing more is known.

 

James Jamar Goin, third child of George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin, was born October 12, 1925 at Claude, according to Armstrong County Birth Book 3, page 25.

 

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy December 16, 1942, and served aboard the USS Comet [AP-166] in the Pacific during World War II. He was married about 1945, wife's name Terry.  He was discharged February 10.,1946 as a signalman third class and showed his address at that time as Box 95, Claude, according to Armstrong County Discharge Book 2, page 370.  His civilian profession was a butcher.

 

A daughter, Katherine Joyce Goin, was born to James Jamar Goin and Terry Goin November 20, 1946, according to Car-son County, Texas birth records.  In 1964 and 1967 James Jamar Goin and Terry Goin were living in Mesa, Arizona.

 

Larkin Aquilla Goin, fourth child of George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin, was born December 24, 1936 at Hedley, according to Donley County Birth Book 2, page 14.  In 1964 Larkin Aquilla Goin and his wife were living in Toomsuba, Mississippi.  In 1967, he and his wife, Pat Goin,

were living in Seminole County, Florida.

 

Larry Wendell Goin, fifth child of George Alexander Goin and Dovie Ozella Jamar Goin, was born in Armstrong County November 26, 1939, according to BVS File 94853.

 

In 1958 and 1959 he was a student at Amarillo Junior College, Amarillo, living at 3407 Monroe. His home address was listed as Box 541, Claude

 

On August 26 1961, he was married to Miss Patsy Sue Bagwell, according to Armstrong County Marriage Book 4, page 72.  She was the daughter of Ralph Bagwell and was born June 4, 1941.  She was an education senior at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas at the time of her wedding and showed her home address as Claude.

 

In 1962 they lived in Lubbock at 2108 47th Street, according to the city directory.  In 1962 and 1963 he was a statistical clerk for the Santa Fe Railway.  In 1964 and 1966 he was listed as a student.  Patsy Sue Bagwell Goin was listed as a teacher at Sanders School in 1963 and 1965.  In 1964 Larry Wendell Goin was named executor of the estate of his mother, according to Armstrong County Probate Book 11, pages 352-362.

 

In 1967 Patsy Sue Bagwell Goin was a beautician for the Paris Beauty Salon and lived at 2003 49th Street, Lubbock.

 

On July 15, 1967, Larry Wendell Goin and Patsy Sue Bagwell Goin of Harris County, Texas, were joined by his brothers and their wives in giving a warranty deed to H. W. Morehead and wife of Armstrong County to the property formerly owned by their parents in Claude, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 73 page 332. They gave a release to him on the property on March 8, 1971, according to Armstrong County Deed Book 76, page 834.

Later John Thomas Goyne was a farmer in Jones County, Texas.  He died February 23, 1954 "of senility" in Stamford, Texas where he maintained a home at 404 South Ferguson, according to Jones County Death Book 8, page 460.  He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Stamford, according to Mrs. Crawford Corruth, informant.

"C. C. Goin," received a deed to 160 acres in Fisher County, Texas, December 20, 1906 from James Henry and K. K. Leggett for $1,870, according to Fisher County Deed Book 20, page 546.

 

"C. C. Goin and Laura V. Goin of Fisher County" sold the 160 acres to J. F. Mitchell December 4, 1907, according to Fisher County Deed Book 24, page 287.  On the same date they sold to Mitchell Lots 19, 20, 21 Block 32, Sylvester, Texas for $550, according to Fisher County Deed Book 23, page 604.  Laura V. Goin is suggested as the second wife of Christopher Columbus "Lum" Goin.

 

On September 21, 1909 C. C. Goin received a warranty deed from G. W. Jennings to Lots 19, 20, 21, Block 32, Sylvester, Texas for $500, according to Fisher County Deed Book 31, page 110.

 

Laura Vandaline Goin, possibly Laura V. Goin above, died in Dallas County, Texas July 4, 1954, according to BVS File 32475.

Elza Vern Goin, first child of Christopher Columbus "Lum" Goin and Ella Brown Goin, was born at Windom March 7, 1893.  “Vern Goin” was born in Texas in March 1892, according to his enumeration in the 1900 census of Fannin County, Enumeration District 83, page 14, precinct 1.  He was living with his uncle, Monroe Perry.

 

Elza Vern Goin was married to Jessie L. Moore September 18, 1913, according to Fannin County Marriage Book T, page 28.

 

Elza Vern Goin, Jessie L. Moore Goin and others deeded land to M. T. Parry, according to Fannin County Deed Book 136, page 264.  Elza Vern Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin deeded land to W. E. Carder, according to Fannin County Deed Book 139, page 448.  They deeded land to Myrtle Mathis, according to Fannin County Deed Book 146, page 579.  Elza Vern Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin deeded additional land to Myrtle Mathis June 13, 1914, according to Fannin County Deed Book 240, page 423.

 

Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin lived at 2512 Ryan Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas in 1949 where he was a store mana-ger for Brigham Young Liquors, according to the city direct-ory.  They continued to live at 2512 Ryan Avenue in 1951 and 1952.  In 1953 and 1954, he, a sales-man, lived at 3120 Proc-tor, Ft. Worth.  In 1956 he was listed as a collector for Charlie Hillard Finance Company and lived at 3659 Reed, according to the city directory.

 

On January 17, 1957, Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin received a warranty deed from Don E. Stabough, to Lot 5, Block 4, Teal Place, Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 3072, page 301.

 

Elza Verne Goin died July 25, 1958 in Howard County, Texas according to the BVS File No. 41503.  However his death certificate could not be located in the county clerk's office in Big Spring, Texas.

 

Jessie L. Moore Goin gave a warranty deed to the Teal Place property January 15, 1959 to C. W. White, according to Tar-rant County Deed Book 3283, page 213.  In connection with this transaction she gave an affidavit stating "I am the surviv-ing wife of Elza Verne Goin who died July 25, 1958.  Only one child, Deloyce M. Goin Baker, wife of Orville J. Baker, was born to us."

 

In 1959 and 1960 Jessie L. Moore Goin lived at 2000 Terbert Lane, Ft. Worth, according to the city directory.  In 1965 and 1968 she was living at 2837 Halbert Street, Ft. Worth.

 

Jessie L. Moore Goin died May 22, 1968 in Ft. Worth.  De-loyce M. Goin Baker Marshall stated to Tarrant County Pro-bate Court that "Jessie L. Moore Goin was married only once and to Elza Verne Goin and that I was the only child born to them," according to Probate File No. D4582, page 996.

 

The only child born to Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin was:

Deloyce M. Goin, only child of Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin, was born August 22, 1914, according to Fannin County Birth Book 12, page 897.  She was married prior to 1958 to Orville J. Baker.  Later Deloyce M. Goin Baker was remarried to Rufus M. Marshall.

Matthew "Mack" E. Goins was born in Virginia in 1861.  About 1885 he was married to Eliza J. Blizzard who was born in Virginia in 1863.

 

Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Blizzard Goins re-ceived a release from D. W. Sweeney, according to Fannin County Release Book 2, page 54.  They also received a re-lease from W. F. Gault, according to Release Book 2, page 57.

 

They gave a release to R. E. Smith, according to Fannin County Deed Book 133, page 208.  He received a deed from Mrs. M.M. Semple, according to Fannin County Deed Book 183, page 382.  He gave a deed to William Haile, according to Fannin County Deed Book 186, page 348.

 

In 1888 Matthew "Mack" C. Goins was farming in Hunt County, Texas.  On August 14, 1894, he received a war-ranty deed from W. M. Robinson for 50 acres of land in Hunt County.  According to Hunt County Deed Book 75, page 485, consideration was $800.

 

On January 15, 1897, he gave a quit claim deed to John Johnson to property in Hunt County for $900, according to Hunt County Deed Book 93, page 212.  On October 10, 1898 Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Blizzard Goins gave a warranty deed to T. F. Pettus to 71 1/9 acres of land located 14 miles southeast of Greenville, Texas for $1,285, according to Hunt County Deed Book 92, page 510.

 

On August 16, 1899 Matthew "Mack" C. Goins received a warranty deed from J. W. Peacock for 32.5 acres of land for $1,200, according to Hunt County Deed Book 101, page 172.

 

He sold 82.5 acres of land to W. H. Cress on March 31, 1900, according to Deed Book 102, page 638.  On August 3, 1901, he gave a warranty deed to J. A. Hall for 18.3 acres of land, according to Hunt County Deed Book 111, page 478.

 

On July 18, 1908, Matthew C. "Mack" Goins and Eliza J. Blizzard Goins sold 53 acres of land to G. G. Johnson for $2,898, according to Hunt County Deed Book 159, page 345.

 

On September 1, 1908, he received a warranty deed from W. D. Bevers for 80 acres of land, according to Hunt County Deed Book 156, page 102.  On November 16, 1908, he received a warranty deed from R. M. Delaney to a lot in Greenville, Texas, according to Hunt County Deed Book 159, page 490.

 

On March 16, 1909 he received a warranty deed from W. M. Kelley to 80 acres of land in Hunt County, according to Hunt County Deed Book 156, page 383.  On February 9, 1911 he received a release on 63 acres purchased from J. G. Allen, according to Hunt County Deed Book 170, page 475.

 

Matthew "Mack" C. Goins was listed in the 1913 city di-rect-ory of Waco, Texas residing at 1100 Lyle Avenue.  In 1916 he lived at 1530 Lyle.  In the 1917-1918 directory, he, a watchman, and Eliza J. Blizzard Goins were shown as liv-ing at 1528 Lyle.  He was listed as an electrical engineer in the 1919-20 directory and lived at 2116 Herring.  From 1921 through 1936 editions the residence of Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Goins were shown to be at 2022 Reuter Avenue.

 

In 1928 he was listed as a watchman for the State Home for Children.  From 1930 until 1936 he operated a restaurant known as "Mac's Place, according to the directory.

 

Eliza J. Blizzard Goins died in Waco May 19, 1936, ac-cording to McLennon County Deed Book 512, page 462.  She was survived by her husband and two children.

 

On July 24, 1937, Matthew "Mack" C. Goins et al deeded property to his son William Curtis Goins, according to Mc-Lennon County Deed Book 464, page 40.  On January 31, 1944 Matthew "Mack" C. Goins was joined by E. D. Dick-son and Ada F. Dickson in transferring property in Waco to William Curtis Goins, according to McLennon County Deed Book 514, page 351.

 

Children born to Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Goins include:

Ada Goins, assumed to be the first child of Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Goins, was born about 1895.  In the 1913 city directory of Waco, she appeared in her father's household "boarding" at 1100 Lyle Avenue.  On December 23, 1914 she was married to Ed D. Dickson, according to McLennan County Marriage Book A-1, page 241.

 

In 1934 Ed B. Dickson owned a drug store in Waco.  On July 27, 1937, Ada F. Goins Dickson received some lots from her brother, William Curtis Goins, according to Mc-Lennon County Deed Book 470, page 389.  Apparently she deeded this property to A. E. McDaniels on January 6, 1944, according McLennon County Deed Book 512, page 487.  It is believed that later Ed D. Dickson and Ada F. Goins Dickson moved to Houston, Texas.

 

William Curtis Goins, second child of Matthew "Mack" C. Goins and Eliza J. Blizzard Goins, was born August 24, 1888 in Hunt County, Texas, according to Hunt County Probate Birth Book 38, page 451.

 

In the 1913 city directory of Waco he appeared as a soda clerk for Powers-Kelly Drug and boarded at 1100 Lyle Av-e-nue, the residence of his parents.  In 1916 he was listed as a clerk for Morrison's Drug Co. and boarded at 1530 Lyle Avenue.  About 1917 he was married, wife's name Kitty, and at that time the couple lived at 920 Proctor Avenue.  He was still employed by Powers-Kelly.  In the 1919-20 city directory he was still living at 920 Proctor and em-ployed by Carter's Drug.

 

He sold the house at 920 Proctor to Louis Concillin April 6, 1920, according to McLennon County Deed Book 320, page 287.  He received a deed from C. G. Appell January 1, 1921 for a house in Waco, according to McLennon County Deed Book 325, page 481.  Consideration was $960. In the 1921-22 city directory, he was shown as an employee of Praetorian Drug Store.

 

William Curtis Goins and Kitty Goins were involved in many real estate transactions in 1923 with Mack Job, J. G. Caleb, R. M. Gage and others.  These transactions were re-corded in Deed Book 343, pages 298 and 587, Deed Book 345, pages 492, Deed Book 350, page 230, Deed Book 371, page 494 and Deed Book 410. page 6.

 

In 1926 William Curtis Goins became an agent for Ameri-can National Insurance Company and lived at 1507 Cum-berland.  The 1928 city directory listed him as an agent for Washington Fidelity National Insurance Company residing at 3811 Bosque Boulevard.  In 1934 he was a clerk for his brother-in-law in the Ed. D. Dickson Drugstore.  In 1936 he was a salesman for L. B. Price Mercantile and lived at 320 Kane.

 

On July 27, 1937 William Curtis Goins and Kitty Goins deeded some property in Waco to Ada F. Goins Dickson, his sister, and apparently moved away from Waco.

 

On January 6, 1944 they deeded some property in McLenn-on County to A. E. McDaniels and Pearl McDaniels, ac-cording to McLennon County Deed Book 512, page 487.  On January 31, 1944 they received a release from the N. M. Gay estate, according to McLennon County Deed Book 514, page 351.

Bocks Going, was born June 23, 1914, at Texas City in Galveston County.  He enlisted May 27, 1942 in the U.S. Navy and served as an aviation ordnanceman first class in VSB Squadron 18, according to Wheeler County Discharge Book 2, page 55.  He was stationed at Vero Beach and Jacksonville, Florida and at Clinton, Oklahoma.  He showed his residence as Monroe City, Missouri in his marriage application with Wilma Fay Burcham of Sham-rock, Texas, according to Backnum County Marriage Book 23, page 559.

 

He was discharged from the Navy January 10, 1945.  Wilma Fay Burcham was born in Arkansas in 1922.  In 1946 and 1950 the couple lived at 1103 Choctaw in Shamrock where he owned a cafe.

 

Frank Elwood Going and Wilma Fay Burcham Going deeded some lots in Shamrock to Jasper M. Burcham April 14, 1956, according to Wheeler County Deed Book 143, page 596.  Later they gave a deed of trust to Fred Holmes May 27, 1958, according to Wheeler County Deed of Trust Book 33, page 201.  He gave a vendor's lein to H. S. Frank Elwood Going died in McLean Hospital, McLean, Texas, November 29, 1967, according to Gray County Death Certificate No. 5870.  He was a resident of Dixie Hotel in McLean and had lived in Gray County for eight years at the time of his death.  He died of uremia and polysystic kidney disease.  He was buried in Shamrock Cemetery.  At the time of his death he owned real estate in McLean and in Wheeler County Texas, valued at $30,000, according to Gray County Probate Book 76, page 103.

William Charles Gowing was born in Mississippi in 1857 of parents unknown, according to one source.  According to the birth record of his son, Archibald Beck Gowing, William Charles Gowing was born at Seguin, Texas in 1862.

 

He was married to Miss Sarah Augusta Markwardt August 26, 1884, according to Mason County, Texas Marriage Book 1, page 115 and 194.  Sarah Augusta Markwardt Gowing was born in 1863 at Fredericksburg, Texas.

 

A son was born to William Charles Gowing and Sarah Au-gusta Markwardt Gowing May 12, 1885 in Mason County, according to BVS File No. 8405.  William Charles Gowing, "constable of Mason County," was tried in Llano County Court in Case No. 70, styled "W. C. Gowing vs the State of Texas" for "failing to execute process."  He was found guilty and fined $1 and court costs, according to Llano County Court Minute Book A, page 222.

 

A son was born to William Charles Gowing and Sarah Augusta Markwardt Gowing October 8, 1887 in Mason County, according to BVS File No. 9403.  A third son was born to them January 10, 1890 in Mason County, according to BVS File No. 8404.

 

On June 6, 1893, William Charles Gowing purchased at auction three plots in the city of Mason from the James E. Ranck Estate for $796.50.  William Charles Gowing and Sarah Markwardt Gowing received a deed from the estate to Lot 19, Block A; Lot 24, Block A; Lot 28, Block A, according to Mason County Deed Book Q, page 540.  This land had been originally deeded to James E. Ranck through the Fisher and Miller Colony.

 

William Charles Gowing gave a lease to C. C. Smith Octo-ber 22, 1894 to "a house on the north side of the square, west of the saloon" for $26 per month, according to Mason County Deed Book 5, page 439.  William Charles Gowing received a warranty deed from Marshall Fulton February 28, 1894 to Lot 7, Block A for $600, according to Mason County Deed Book R, page 302.  This plot had also be-longed to the James E. Ranck estate.

 

He gave a warranty deed to P. C. Baird March 16, 1895 to Lot 28, Block A "at East Street and Ranck Avenue" for $300, according to Mason County Deed Book R, page 368.  On September 11, 1895, he gave a warranty deed to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South to two acres of land, Lot 24, Block A for $300, according to Mason County Deed Book T, page 127.

 

William Charles Gowing gave a warranty deed to C. C. Smith December 7, 1895 to Lot 7, Block A, "a lot on the public square, north side," according to Mason County Deed Book R, page 409.

 

It is believed that William Charles Gowing and Sarah Markwardt Gowing were divorced about this time.  William Charles Gowing was remarried to Fannie Chap-man Gowing.  William Charles Gowing and Fannie Chap-man Gowing "of Brown County, Texas" gave a warranty deed to A. H. Murchison and E. R. Murchison, dba as Mur-chison & Bro. in Menard, Texas, August 7, 1897, according to Menard County Deed Book M, page 132.  Fannie Chap-man Gowing had inherited the property "Lots 1, 2, 5 & 6 Block 40, city of Menardville" from Dr. B. D. George, de-ceased.

 

On August 9, 1897, Fannie Chapman Gowing received a deed from M.D. Trammel to Lot 16, Block 3, Hogan's Ad-dition, Brownwood, Texas for $500, according to Brown County Deed Book 51, page 135.

 

William Charles Gowing sued King and Smith for back rent on a saloon building, according to Mason County Court Minute Book 4, page 292 and 314. The court found in favor of the defendant and awarded him $46 back rent and $509 in court costs.            He also sued Henry Leifeste April 1, 1898 and recovered $300, according to Mason County Court Minute Book 5, page 575.

 

In 1898, William Charles Gowing, "cotton buyer," and Fan-nie Chapman Gowing were living on East Baker Street, Brownwood when their "fifth child" was born, according to Brown County Birth Book 17, page 45.  The record indi-cates that this was the fifth child of the mother, but might be in error.

 

William Charles Gowing received a deed from W. N. Ad-ams February 18, 1899 to a lot in Brownwood's Hurling Survey for $600, according to Brown County Deed Book 52, page 472.  On February 12, 1900 they sold the property to Mrs. S. J. Groom for $50, according to Brown County Deed Book 59, page 284.  At the same time they received a piece of property from Mrs. Groom for $50, according to Brown County Deed Book 55, page 205.

 

William Charles Gowing received a lease from Hill and McGhee December 13, 1900, according to Brown County Lease Book 36, page 393.  William Charles Gowing ap-peared in the 1902-03 city directory of Ft. Worth, Texas, as the proprietor of Crown Saloon, 715 Main Street, Ft. Worth, Texas.  He resided at 1305 Bessie with seven mem-bers of his family.

 

William Charles Gowing received a deed from W. N. Ad-ams June 1, 1904 to property in Huling Survey, according to Brown County Deed Book 60, page 30.  William Charles Gowing and Fannie Chapman Gowing "of Brown County" gave a deed to B. S. Boysen July 2, 1907 to lots 198 and 201, Huling Survey, according to Brown County Deed Book 101, page 67.  The signature of Fannie Chapman Gowing was notarized in Tarrant County, Texas, suggest-ing that she was a resident of Ft. Worth at that time.

 

In 1907, William Charles Gowing was "rooming at 507 Hemphill" according to the city directory of Ft. Worth.  In the 1909-10 edition, William Charles Gowing, Fannie Chapman Gowing and three other members of the family were living at 307 Taylor.

 

William Charles Gowing received a warranty deed from Alexander Rabyor August 16, 1907 to Lots 3 & 4, Block 5, Field-Welch Addition, Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 271, page 129.  He sold the property August 29, 1908 to Lee L. Russell for $4,500, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 207, page 29.

 

In 1911 Fannie Chapman Gowing operated a boarding house at 812 Bois d'Arc Avenue, according to the Ft. Worth city directory.  William Charles Gowing lived in Bethany, Oklahoma, October 18, 1939.

 

Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing, "widow of W. C. Gowing," was listed in the 1909 city directory of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, living at 804 West California.  In the 1911 edi-tion, her residence was shown as 604 West California.  From 1912 through 1923, she lived at 800 East Fifth street, according to the directory.  From 1925 through 1927, she lived at 704 East 9th Street.

 

Children born to William Charles Gowing and Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing were believed to include:

Glen Eugene Gowing, regarded as the first child of William Charles Gowing and Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing, was born in Mason County May 12, 1885, according to BVS File No. 8405.  He was listed in the 1907 edition of the city directory of Oklahoma City as night depot agent, Wells Fargo & Company, boarding at 34 East Grand.  He contin-ued his employment with Wells Fargo & Company through 1928 in capacities as clerk, cashier, route agent and chief clerk.  In the 1928 edition the company was listed as Amer-ican Railway Express Company.

 

Glenn Eugene Gowing was married November 24, 1910 to Ruth E. McRee, who was born in 1891, according to Okla-homa County Marriage Book 16, page 252.  In 1911 Glenn Eugene Gowing and Ruth E. McRee Gowing lived with his mother at 604 W. California, according to the city direct-ory.  In 1915 Glenn Eugene Gowing and Ruth E. McRee Gowing lived at 828 West 9th Street, and in 1920 they lived at 818 East 7th.  From 1920 through 1930 they lived at 724 East 12th Street, according to the city directory.

 

Glenn Eugene Gowing, who lived at 2757 NW 18th Street, Oklahoma City, died in 1970 at the age of 75.  His obituary stated that "he was survived by his widow, a brother, Arch-ibald Beck Gowing of Ardmore, Oklahoma, a brother, Rod-ney Gowing, and a son Bill Gowing, an insurance adjuster of Lawton, Oklahoma."

 

Children born to Glenn Eugene Gowing and Ruth E. Mc-Ree Gowing include:

 

          William "Bill" Gowing                          born about 1912.

 

William "Bill" Gowing, son of Glenn Eugene Gowing and Ruth E. McRee Gowing, was born about 1912 in Oklahoma City.  In 1970 he was an insurance adjuster at Lawton, Ok-lahoma.

 

Archilbald Beck Gowing, son of William Charles Gowing and Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing, was born in Mason County October 8, 1887, according to BVS File 9403.  In 1909, he and his wife Alta Gowing lived with his mother at 804 West California, Oklahoma City, according to the city directory.

 

He was listed as a clerk for Wells-Fargo & Company at that time.  He continued with this company, like his brother, in various capacities, agent, depot agent and assistant cashier through 1927.  From 1920 forward, the name of the com-pany was listed as American Railway Express Company.

 

In the 1911-12 edition of the directory, they continued to live with his mother at 604 West California.  They contin-ued to live with her at 800 East 5th Street until 1922.  In 1923, they were shown at 1011½ East 6th Street.  in the 1925 through 1927 editions of the Oklahoma City direct-ory, Archibald Beck Gowing was listed as assistant cashier for American Railway Express Company, and he and his wife lived at 711½ 9th Street.  In 1971, they lived in Ard-more, Oklahoma.

 

Rodney Charles Gowing, son of William Charles Gowing and his wife, Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing, was born in Mason County January 10, 1890.  In the 1911 and 1912 city directories of Oklahoma City, he was listed as a driver for American Express Company, living with his mother at 604 West California.  In 1912, he was listed as a clerk for the company living at 800 East 5th Street with his mother.  In 1915, he was listed as a clerk for Wells-Fargo & Com-pany, still living at home.

 

From 1920 through 1923, he was listed as a clerk for An-derson Clayton & Company, still living at 800 East 5th Street.  In 1925, he moved with his mother to 704 East 9th Street.  In 1926 he was a bookkeeper with Clay W. Han-cock & Company, continuing to live at 704 East 9th Street, according to the directory.  In 1927 and 1928 editions, he was listed as a salesman for Nix Real Estate.  In 1927 he lived at his mother's address and in 1928 he lived at 124 East 11th Street.  In 1929 and 1930, he was a clerk for Standard Sales Company and lived at 209 West 2nd.

 

William Charles Gowing, Jr, son of William Charles Gow-ing and Sarah A. Markwardt Gowing, was born about 1895.  In 1920, he lived at 810 West 9th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  On June 27, 1920, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Sanders at Wheeler, Texas, according to Wheeler County Marriage License 910.

 

In 1922, William Charles Gowing, Jr. and Elizabeth E. "Betty" Sanders Gowing roomed at 105 East 4th Street, according to the city directory of Oklahoma City.  In the editions covering 1923 to 1928, he was listed as a cotton broker.  In 1923, they lived at 105 East 4th Street.  In 1925, they were listed at 123 East 8th Street.  In 1926, they lived at 621 East 6th Street.  In 1927, they lived at 805 West Av-enue F, and in 1928, and 1929, they lived at 219 East 6th Street.  In 1930, they lived at 514 West 6th Street.

 

Elizabeth E. "Betty" Sanders Gowing, William Charles Gowing, Jr, et al, were the grantors in a sheriff's deed to Continental Supply Company  on 440 acres of land in Wheeler County, September 15, 1936, according to Wheel-er County Deed Book 92, page 304.  They also gave a deed of trust to Republic Insurance Company January 1, 1937, according to Wheeler County Deed Book 22, page 236 and 255.  Later they gave a quit claim deed on Lots 16 and 17, Block 8, Shamrock, Texas, according to Wheeler County Deed Book 103, page 352.  They were involved in other real estate transactions in 1942, 1943, and 1944, according to Wheeler County Deed Books 105, pages 212, 538, and 563 and Deed Book 109, page 13.

 

Fannie Edna Gowing, daughter of William Charles Gowing and Fannie Chapman Gowing, was born in 1898 on East Baker Street, Brownwood, Texas, according to Brown County Birth Book 17, page 45.  The birth was attested by Nina G. Nelson, Cochise County, Arizona, September 30, 1952 in a delayed birth registration.  Mertie B. Johnson, Imperial County, California, also attested to the birth Oc-tober 3, 1952.

 

He was married April 16, 1891 to Ella Brown, according to Fannin County Marriage Book G, page 327.  Christopher Columbus Goin, Ella Brown Goin and others received a deed from J. F. Blodgett to land in Fannin County, accord-ing to Fannin County Deed Book 50, page 315.  Chris-topher Columbus Goin was a farmer at Windom in 1893.

 

"C. C. Goin," received a deed to 160 acres in Fisher County, Texas, December 20, 1906 from James Henry and K. K. Leggett for $1,870, according to Fisher County Deed Book 20, page 546.

 

"C. C. Goin and Laura V. Goin of Fisher County" sold the 160 acres to J. F. Mitchell December 4, 1907, according to Fisher County Deed Book 24, page 287.  On the same date they sold to Mitchell Lots 19, 20, 21 Block 32, Sylvester, Texas for $550, according to Fisher County Deed Book 23, page 604.  Laura V. Goin is suggested as the second wife of Christopher Columbus Goin.

 

On September 21, 1909 C. C. Goin received a warranty deed from G. W. Jennings to Lots 19, 20, 21, Block 32, Sylvester, Texas for $500, according to Fisher County Deed Book 31, page 110.

 

Laura Vandaline Goin, possibly Laura V. Goin above, died in Dallas County, Texas July 4, 1954, according to BVS File 32475.

 

Children born to Christopher Columbus Goin and Ella Brown Goin include:

 

          Elza Vern Goin                                         born March 7, 1893

 

Elza Vern Goin, first child of Christopher Columbus Goin and Ella Brown Goin, was born at Windom March 7, 1893.  He was married to Jessie L. Moore September 18, 1913, according to Fannin County Marriage Book T, page 28.

 

Elza Vern Goin, Jessie L. Moore Goin and others deeded land to M. T. Parry, according to Fannin County Deed Book 136, page 264.  Elza Vern Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin deeded land to W. E. Carder, according to Fannin County Deed Book 139, page 448.  They deeded land to Myrtle Mathis, according to Fannin County Deed Book 146, page 579.  Elza Vern Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin deeded ad-ditional land to Myrtle Mathis June 13, 1914, according to Fannin County Deed Book 240, page 423.

 

Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin lived at 2512 Ryan Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas in 1949 where he was a store manager for Brigham Young Liquors, according to the city directory.  They continued to live at 2512 Ryan Avenue in 1951 and 1952.  In 1953 and 1954, he, a salesman, lived at 3120 Proctor, Ft. Worth.  In 1956 he was listed as a col-lector for Charlie Hillard Finance Company and lived at 3659 Reed, according to the city directory.

 

On January 17, 1957, Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin received a warranty deed from Don E. Stabough, to Lot 5, Block 4, Teal Place, Ft. Worth, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 3072, page 301.

 

Elza Verne Goin died July 25, 1958 in Howard County, Tex-as according to the BVS File No. 41503.  However his death certificate could not be located in the county clerk's office in Big Spring, Texas.

 

Jessie L. Moore Goin gave a warranty deed to the Teal Place property January 15, 1959 to C. W. White, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 3283, page 213.  In connection with this transaction she gave an affidavit stating "I am the surviving wife of Elza Verne Goin who died July 25, 1958.  Only one child, Deloyce M. Goin Baker, wife of Or-ville J. Baker, was born to us."

 

In 1959 and 1960 Jessie L. Moore Goin lived at 2000 Terbert Lane, Ft. Worth, according to the city directory.  In 1965 and 1968 she was living at 2837 Halbert Street, Ft. Worth.

 

Jessie L. Moore Goin died May 22, 1968 in Ft. Worth.  De-loyce M. Goin Baker Marshall stated to Tarrant County Pro-bate Court that "Jessie L. Moore Goin was married only once and to Elza Verne Goin and that I was the only child born to them," according to Probate File No. D4582, page 996.

 

The only child born to Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin was:

 

          Deloyce M. Goin                               born August 22, 1914.

 

Deloyce M. Goin, only child of Elza Verne Goin and Jessie L. Moore Goin, was born August 22, 1914, according to Fannin County Birth Book 12, page 897.  She was married prior to 1958 to Orville J. Baker.  Later Deloyce M. Goin Baker was remarried to Rufus M. Marshall.
