Mr. D. S. Ferguson
Sir, I have the honor of submitting a list of hands beginning at Pine Grove School House and working West in the opening of the Willow Springs and Ava Road.

(Note:  number after each name is Days Worked.   I do not understand why persons with no days worked are listed, but felt list significant to establish residence in the area at the approximate time of the missing 1890 census.)

Notice from the Clerk of the County Court for Howell County,
West Plains, Mo February 13, 1894

Dear Sir,

You have been appointed Road Overseer by the County Court.  Find herewith Bond you will sign and get two good solvent securities to sign with you then bring the bond and come to my office and be sworn in and receive your commisson.
Respectfully,

Dear Dave,

I did not have any hand in appointing you and hope you will not blame me.  The Dist. has been cut down and will not require nearly so much time as you will have Twp. 27 R. 10 only.

This leaves us all well.

As ever, R. S. Hogan

(Note - David Sanford Ferguson and Robert "Rob" S. Hogan were first cousins.)
