[Note: Internet, 13 July 2003, E-mail to ASH: Ken Striker of Dayton, OH: "This is a family monument. There are a number of small stones in the plot area for their children. I don't see anything there for the parents. I have an article from a Dayton [Montgomery Co., OH] Newspaper June 12, 1981 which talked about a realignment in the family's construction business. They were a big operation. I recall seeing their orange vehicles, which operated I believe from their Shroyer Rd. business."

WARD B.7 CREAGER, son of William Otterbein6 CREAGER(Wm. Henry5, Peter I4, Adam3 Creager, Johann Casper2Krieger/Creager, Hans Ernst1 Krieger) and Sarah I. WILLIAM CREAGER (aka George William Creager) was son of Frederick CREAGER (1780-????) & Margaretha Anna Mary SCHRUPP, who apparently lived and died in Maryland. He was born 20 March 1807 in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland. William married 1 November 1829 Frederick County, Maryland to Elizabeth MILLER. Perhaps he was the William Creager who purchased land in Hocking County, Ohio in 1841 while living in Pickaway County, Ohio.

WILLIAM H.6 CREAGER, son of Henry5 CREAGER (Christian4, Adam3, Johann Casper2 Krieger/Creager, Hans Ernst1Krieger) & Elizabeth PRUGH, is said to have been born 1844. WILLIAM OTTERBEIN CREAGER, son of William Henry5 CREAGER (Peter4 I, Adam3 Creager, Johann Casper2 Krieger/Creager, Hans Ernst1 Krieger) and Mary Ann RIDGELY, was born 28 January 1844 Montgomery County, Ohio. In 1850 he was enumerated as being 6 years of age and living with his parents in Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. According to his wife's obituary, William was a Civil War Veteran who served in the 35th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and the 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery. He married 7 March 1872 to Sarah I. (probably Isabelle) "Belle" BASORE; died 2 August 1920 probably Montgomery County, Ohio. In 1880, he and Belle were enumerated as living in the village of Farmersville, Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio; his occupation being that of a traveling salesman. In 1900, they continued to live in Farmersville, and he was working as a salesman. In 1910, they continued in residence at Farmersville, where William evidently was "merchant" who owned a store; and by 1920 they appear in the same place as apparently retired. Belle, daughter of Levi K. BASORE & Christine HAUSER, was born 10 September 1851 Ohio and died 24 July 1924 Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio at the home of her son. William and "Belle" were the parents of three known sons: Charles Edward, Leroy Otterbein (aka as Roy and Otterbein); and Ward B. CREAGER.

WILLIAM T.7 CREAGER, s/o Esias6 CREAGER (Thomas5, Johann Heinrich4 Creager, Conrad3, Johann Casper2 Krieger/Creager, Hans Ernst1 Krieger) and Susan DUNCAN, was born 1844 in Ohio; married 25 February 1864 in Darke County, Ohio to his cousin, Sarah "Sallie" Jane7 CREAGER; and evidently died months or years after 14 July 1873 when he last wrote to his father, who died 31 July 1873. Did the letter (given below) arrive in time for his father to read it? Perhaps it arrived after his father's decease, as the letter was part of his father's estate record. Sarah6, dau/o Michael5 Creager (Christian4, Adam3 Creager, Johann Casper2 Krieger/Creager, Hans Ernst1 Krieger) & Mary Hosier, was born Abt. 29 November 1843. Evidently, William's whereabouts became unknown and he was never heard from again. Sarah filed for divorce in Darke County, Ohio in 1876 (DIVORCE Case #7416). Sarah remarried 21 December 1876 to John G. BROWN.

"Letter written by William T. CREAGER to his father, Esaias Creager, on 14 July 1873 from New Orleans, LA. It was included is Esaiass will package. William T. Creager was never heard from again, and Sallie divorced him on or about 25 Feb 1864. Reference for the marriage is found in Marriage Records of Darke Co., OH, Vol. 1, 1817-1865, p. 74, compiled by Fort Greenville Chapter of the DAR. Reference for the divorce which occurred about 1876 was Case #7416 in Darke Co, OH. It would appear from the letter that he was not too trustworthy. I could find a record of a claim in Montana. The Dan he refers to I think is his Uncle Daniel Creager, brother of Esaias."

Dear father, I presume you will be some what supprised to hear of my being here but when you cannot do as you like do as you can. I arrived in Montana in due time and have my claim all safe but did not effect a sale as on of the parties that was to buy died the first of June and that played the sale out for a while. Then I thought wrote me to New Orleans but I did not received the letter before I went home and as I did not get but little money up there I thought I would come here so I arrived here this morning and I did not find the man here that has my note but he has received it but he has gone to New York- I also received a letter here from Capt Canura and he is at Havana and I will go to him immediately will go tomorrow and go by the way of Galveston Texas and on my arrival at Havana I will send you some money it will be but a couple of weeks I was sory I could not send you any from the west but you shall have it soon. So think all to be right and it surely will be- The reason the captain is at Havana he broke some of there machines and had to run in port for repairs. I presume I will go with him to the east India Islands and will be gone about nine months but will not fail to send you money enough from Havana to make all right and when I get back if I have good luck I will be a rich man again. Well Dear Father if your folks that live in the house moved away have Sallie to come down and keep house for you and I will not let you want for anything You can use you pleasure about showing this letter but I believe I would not tell Dan any thing about as I will soon send the money and then they can not say any thing. Write to me and address Havana Cuba and I in all probability will received it before I leave there and hoping this to find you well and me to have good luck this trip- I am getting better now but am not well yet by any means. Well Dear Father my last words are believe me true and if I live all will be wright. So good by and I am your affeclinde Son.
