Crittenden Christian cemetery is located at the end of Center and Sayers streets in
Crittenden, Ky. The cemetery has over 600 residents, 500+ are here on this list. I have used
the census 72 year method and removed anyone still living that was born in 1930 or later.
This survey was taken in January 2002 by me and represents every stone I could find. There are large
gaps in the older part of the cemetery where I am sure stones once stood. I unearthed a half a
dozen or so that were just under the surface when I could find them. No easy task. I compared
this list with a survey taken by Virgil Chandler Sr. and put out by the Grant Co. Historical Society.
(The Grant County Cemetery Papers
published in 1988 from surveys taken in 1970, 1984 and 1987) and there are 16 stones he has listed
that are no longer to be found. There are several piles of broken stones near some trees that
are most likely some of the 16. I suppose the others are in someone's garden somewhere, buried
or overtaken by lawn.
