No. 57 is Fort Witten, near Tazewell, in southwest Virginia. This fort marks the first settlement in this section of Clinch Valley. It was built in 1767 by Thomas Witten and has been reconstructed. See "American Forts Yesterday and Today" by Bruce Grant FHL 973 H2gb
