10. Patrick Of Abrach MACGREGOR 3rd Chieftan (Duncan MACGREGOR , Gregor MACGREGOR , Duncan MACGREGOR , Gregor Patrickson GREGOR , Patrick Mhor MACGREGOR , Gregor MACGREGOR , Iain Dubh MACGREGOR , Iain Cam MACGREGOR , Gregor ) was born about 1607 in Scotland. He died about 1661. Patrick was employed as 3rd Cheiftain Of The Children Of The Mist.

He was the 3rd chieftan of the Clan of the Children of the Mist (the sect that had been dispossessed of their lands and name). This has also been called the Ladassach line.

Patrick MacGregor of Ardchoille (called Aberach after his father), Chieftain of the Children of the Mist and is also said to have fought under Montrose at Kilsyth in 1645. He would, of course have been subordiante to the other Patrick who was his Chief. He married Marion MacDonald of Auchatrichatan in Glencoe member of the family of the MacDonalds of Glencoe and, perhaps, a distant relative of the MacDonalds of Sleat. By her, with other children, he had two sons---- Iain, his heir, and James who settled in Virginia and was your ancestor. I am directly descended from his elder brother, Iain, as a matter of interest. In the latter half of the 16th century, this branch of the Clan led such wild and hunted lives in the misty mountains that they became know as MacEagh or "Sons of the Mist." It may be that it is from this Gaelic patronym that James MacGregor took the name MacGehee (McGehee Descendants by E C W Grider quoting Sir Gregor MacGregor).

Patrick married Lady Marion MCDONALD ¹ about 1617 in Scotland. Marion was born about 1600 in Auchatrichatan, Glencoe, Scotland.

PARENTS: I had had James Mor McDonald of Sleat and Mary MacLeod as her parents. However, subsequent research has shown that that couple was too young to be her parents.
