Mrs. Herman Beyer, was Miss Frances Jane Gregory and was the only daughter of James and Martha Ellen Gregory. She was born in the town of Platteville April
2, 1874 and attended the Whig District school. She was married to Herman Beyer, December 24, 1889 and to this union ten children were born, five of whom
died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Beyer united with the First Congregational Church of Platteville
March 7, 1897 and she was a member of that church at the time of her death.
Mrs. Beyer had been in failing health for about two years, but none were
prepared for her sudden passing. She loved her home and her last services were
in it. Last Monday she did her washing and Tuesday ironed. She was taken sick
on Thursday and passed away Friday morning December 14, 1934, being 60 years,
eight months and 12 days old.
She leaves to mourn their loss her husband and five children: Mrs. Chas. Clifton of Vancover (sic), Washington, who could not come to her mother on
account of the sickness of her husband; George Beyer, of Rewey, Wis; Mrs. Clarence Cardy living west of Platteville; Douglas of Janesville, and Clarence living at home and attending High School. There are also five brothers, Georgeand James Gregory of the town of Harrison, and Jesse and John of Platteville;Walter of Rockford, Ill. And a number of nieces and nephews, also eleven
grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Concklin Chapel Sunday afternoon
conducted by the Rev. Robert F. Merritt of the Platteville Congregational
church, assisted by Captain F.J. Atterton of the Janesville Salvation Army
Corps. The remains were laid to rest in Greewood (sic) Cemetery.
