Harry E. Biddick, youngest son of Richard and Ann Rundell Biddick, was born on a farm one mile southeast of Livingston, in the township of
Mifflin April 14, 1872. Here with nine brothers and sisters and many double
cousins living nearby, was spent a very happy chiildhood. He received his
education in the nearby rural school and in the schools of Livingston.
On October 16, 1895, he was married to Ida Iverson of Livingston at the Methodist Parsonage at Platteville by Rev. H. W. Troy.
The young couple took up the duties of farming and homemaking on the Biddick
homestead. Here seven children were born and here the family lived for 37
years. In 1933, Mr. and Mrs. Biddick retired to Platteville where Mr. Biddick
has taken an active part in the Methodist church and the Odd Fellows lodge. He
was a beloved member of the Rundell Biddick Picnic Association and had missed
but one meeting in 41 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Biddick celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1945, with
a family dinner and Open House for their friends. Their 55th anniversary was
quietly observed last October, at their home on Southworth Avenue.
Mr. Biddick, although 79 years of age, was active in many ways, active in the
last hour of his life. He passed away suddenly at his home Monday, April 30,
1951. He was a quiet man, but one who shall be greatly missed by his family,
his church, and his friends.
Besides his wife, Ida, he is mourned by four sons and three daughters: Roxy, Mrs. R. C. Jones of Madison; Williard of Livingston; Lloyd of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Lois, Mrs. M. D. Wheeler, Madison; Alden, Banten, Illinois; Jeanette, Mrs. Heggelund, Beloit; and Joris, Jennings, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, one brother, Adolphus of Livingston; several nephews and nieces and numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held at the Karrmann Funeral Home at 3:00 o'clock
Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Raymond Fleming officiating. Burial was in Rock
church cemetery, Livingston.
