| 1923 | 19 years. | Finished barn and Leonard hired me for $12.00 per month in March. In June
started for $3.50 per week. Had ring worm, went to Doctor for the first time
in my life. Had flue or grip this year or next in spring and took Indian herb
pills which contained iron. Took a quite a lot of strong medicine. Went after
cows and horses in the wet grass regular worked very, very hard at a lot of
places. Had to hurry lots at home to get to work at the other place. Worked
from 14 to 15 hrs. to 18 a day. Was scared by snake and lightning. |
| 1924 | 20 years. | I worked for Leonard up till the 17 of July. This was 16 months. Tried to
rest some and not work so hard and left him hire other children to work before
and after school about. I had a job in Jan. in town where I didn't have to
work to hard. Had to milk at home. I took iodine tablets or thought they were
from Treglown. Worked for Aunt Dona at Burton a month for 20 dollars in March.
Had lung trouble then. Worked very hard at this time and afer I came home was
very fleshy. Weighed 156 and hadn't weighed more than 120 or 128 before. Had
pains in shoulders and neck. |
