Simon Taylor, married Mary ___, and died before 25 Jan 1796. His known children were James Taylor, William Taylor, and Unice Taylor.

In 1755, and in Vol. B (tightly bound, data hidden), page 434, 15 Apr. __, Simon Taylor, (Pitt ?) Co., planter to Martin Nelson Junr., same for L30, in Pitt Co. south side Tar River south side Beaver Dam Branch, 61 acres (patent 17 Feb. 1737 to ___ylor and by him to William Taylor 1737 and by William to Simon 5 Dec. 1755), signed Simon Taylor, wit. John Simps(?), Peter Nellson.

In 1763 Simon was mentionded as being in Pitt County. Vol B, page 497, 7 Jan. 1763, Granville to Simon Taylor, Pitt Co., planter, south side Tar River on south side ____ Creek, adj. said Taylor, ref. the cart road, adj. Isaac Buck (216) acres. William Taylor was a sworn chain carrier (SCC) on 7 Jan 1763 when Simon Taylor received a Granville grant of 216 acres on the south side of Tar River in Pitt County and on the South side of Chicod Creek, joining the sd Taylor, the side of a Cart road, Isaac Buck, and the side of the sd creek (Original: /s/ Simon Taylor); wit: Alex Stewart, Joshua Stafford (who signed with a mark) examined by: Tho Blount and W Churton surveyed 5 May 1762; sworn chain carriers: John Dixson, Wm Taylor; John Speir Jr Survy."

Simon is mentioned in 1769. 1768-1771, Vol. D, page 50, 7 March 1769, William Taylor, Junr. Pitt Co., planter, to William Taylor, son of Simon Taylor, a minor (the title of this deed is deed book is "William Taylor Junr. to Wm. Taylor of Simon (dec'd), 20 cash (sic) tract in Pitt Co. on SW side Creeping Swamp 200 acres (tract patented to said William Taylor, Junr. 24 oct. 1767), signed William Taylor, (mark appears to be W with right upright having a loop similar to a P), wit. John Simpson, Elizabeth Simpson

24 Jun 1777 - Winifred Wilson - Thomas Hodges, 272 A; £55. Wit.: Moses Hodges, Bk. F-504. Butted and Bounded on the So. By the Main Road, on the west by the Iron Mind, and No. by the Courses of sd. Patton as reference is had thereunto and on the Et. by Simon Taylors line.

Simon Taylor was granted 400 acres on 21st of Oct 1782; chain bearers: Sam Elks, William Elks; mentioned: Jacob Taylor, Joseph Boyd. Simon Taylor was granted 52 acres on 21 Oct 1782; chain bearers: Pollas Avery, Samuel Elks. Simon Taylor was granted 5 acres on the same date, 21 Oct 1782; chain bearer: Apollas Avery; mentioned: Col. John Simpson, William Dixon. Simon Taylor was granted 100 acres on 13 Oct 1783; chain bearers: Samuel Kite, Levi Noble.

On 8 June 1793, James Taylor sold 96 acres to John Buck for 100 pounds; former owner Simon Taylor. Simon Taylor sells on 15 Apr 1763? 61 acres (Deed 1755) for 30 pounds to Martin Nelson, Jr.; former owner was William Taylor (Pat. 1737); wit: John Simpson, Peter Nelson.

On 25 Jan 1796, Mary Taylor, widower, sold 77 acres for 50 pounds to Benjamin Paxton; former owner Simon Taylor, dec., former husband of Mary Taylor, grantor. Wit: Martin Nellson, Peggy Paxton.
