FUNERAL OF MRS. ELLEN THURSTON

Wife of James Thurston Succumbs After
Illness of Three Months.

Mrs. Ellen Thurston, wife of James
Thurston, died at her home south of
Greenville Wednesday afternoon of last
week after an illness of three months.
Mrs. Thurston whose maiden name was
Hall, was born January 12, 1836, near
Collinsville in Madison County. She was
married to James Thurston in 1861 and he
with three sons James, William and Fred
survive. Three brothers, Winfield,
Harrison and Lincoln Hall also survive.
The funeral was held Friday at 2 p,m, at
Smith Grove Church, Rev. Oliver Hockett
officiating. The burial took place at Smith
Grove Cemetery. The pall bearers were L.
Rising, Ed Valentine, Wm. May, H. Bohle,
O. Colgny and J. Knebel.
Mrs. Thurston was a member of the
Baptist Church and was loved and
respected by all.
