Died, at Fort Scott, Kansas, Monday,
February 15th, 1897, Mrs. Virginia D. Pearce, wife of W. A. Pearce, aged 36 years, 8 months, and 4 days. Both Mrs. Pearce and her husband were at one time students of Blackburn, and the friendship finally consummated in marriage, was begun in student days. Mrs. Pearce was the youngest sister of Dr. Lucinda H. Corr of this city. She removed to Fort Scott, from Carlinville last spring, the change being made for the benefit of her health. The deceased was afflicted with heart disease for ten years, and was finally stricken down in the prime of life, by that strange malady. A devoted husband, three little boys, and several brothers and sisters mourn her untimely end. The sorrowing ones may be assured of the sympathy of the BLACKBURNIAN in the loss of their relative and our former student.
The Blackburnian, March 1897, pg 107-108.
