Welcome to our families genealogy site.  If you find you are a "cousin" and need additional info or have data you are willing to contribute, feel free to contact us.  I will be updating this site on a monthly basis or as new significant data is uncovered.   The focus of the research presented on this site is based on each grandparent and g-grandparents surname.  Those names are: Caudell, Coleman, Iverson, Hall, Holl, Hose, Johnson, Luper, Naihe, Olson, Saltmarsh, Schleidt, Sherman, Walker and Ward.

Family Sheets include the normal names, dates and locations.  The second part of each family sheet includes census records, birth and death records, marriage certificates and other documentation showing pertinent information on the family or individuals in the family.  Documentation is added as it becomes available. Be aware that most of the pictures are high resolution and therefore bandwidth intensive.  The Family sheets are primarily being constructed to document my families direct lines.

With the easy access to the internet, too much activity is geared toward taking family lines back as far as possible without making sure each link in the process is documented.  It has been estimated through sampling that about 40% of the family lines presented on the internet contain significant errors.  The Family Sheets are our effort to ensure the integrity of the direct lines in our family.  Families outside of our direct line may or may not have been checked so verify all data.

We currently have over 20,000 names in our database.  Should you find any errors in our data, please let us know so we may correct our database.  Please submit the error information and cite documentation supporting the needed change to John Hall.

HOLL is German in origin.  The meaning and origin within Germany is still on my research list of things to do.  Unfortunately the meanings and spelling have changed over time so the answer will not come easily.

Hall is found in Danish, German, English, Norwegian and Swedish origins.  It simply means "hall" and was given to one who either lived or worked in a hall( the house of a medieval noble).  The second Hall family found on this site is Irish in origin.  Research into this family has just started but have been lucky since they are local to my state and documentation and cemetery sites are local.  Forrest View Cemetery in Forrest Grove has most of the Hall and Coleman family.  The cemetery is currently being cataloged with pictures and will be available on the Washington county, Oregon GenWeb site shortly.

Coleman is English in origin and in this case is an occupational name, a coleman was a man who gathered charcoal (from Old English "col," coal and "mann," man).  The Coleman's on this site have been traced back to their immigration to America but at this point have not started research in England.

My brick wall is my Great Great Grandfather John Saltmarsh.  He was born in England in 1815.  Was a Green Grocer in London until the wars in the 1840's.  Immigrated to the United States in 1849.  Although I know all the data on John I have nothing on his parents.  His wifes parents I have.  So...I haven't found a way to go research the data in England and until I can this broken link in the family will remain broken.
