Isaac's brothers were in the Civil War (1 may have been named Harvey). Isaac refused because he was the youngest and was needed at home. His family lived near Ringtown. From E. Union Twp., Schuykill Co., at time of marriage to Susanna.

ISAAC NUNGESSOR DIED YESTERDAY
Family Only Remaining Settlers Between the Two Mountains

FUNERAL ON SATURDAY

At the age of 88 years, the death of Isaac Nungesser occurred yesterday at his home at Greenville in the valley between the Knob and Jonstown mountains.

Mrs. Nungesser aged 81 years, survives him and there are twelve children.

With most of his life spent near Red Rock, Mr. Nungesser moved 26 years ago to the small farm between the mountains. There was at one time a small settlement there, but It dwindled until Mr. and Mrs. Nungesser and their daughter, Rachel, were all that remained. The home has been a welcome site for many cold and tired hunters and the family had a reputation for hospitality to visitors to the section.

Disease incident to is age, was the cause of death at 4:20 o'clock yesterday morning

The twelve children surviving are:

Smith, of Hughesville; Mrs. Charles Travelpiece, ot Wapwallopen; Mrs. William Shultz of Berwick; Mrs. William Long, of Bloomsburg; William Nungesser, of Mingle Inn; Henry Nungesser, ot Hughesvllle; Mrs. Frank Getz. of Glen Spy, New York, Mrs. Frank Zimmerman, of Elysburg; Mrs. Charles Newman, ot Berwick: Rachel, at home, and, Mrs. John Setzer, Of Berwlck.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the home at at two o'clock and will be continued at Summer Hill Evangelical Church, . Rev. J. H. Ricker, of Columbia Circuit, will officiate and Interment will, be made in Summer Hill cemetery.

MRS. NUNGESSER DIES AT AGE OF 93 YEARS
Resident For Half Century At 'Greenville," Between Mountains and Jonestown Road - Active Until Few Weeks Age and Death Is Sudden.

After a long and active life, Mrs. Susan Hoffman Nungesser died last night at the age of 93 years in her home at Greenville, between the mountain on the Berwick-Jonestown road. Death was entirely unexpected and Mrs. Hoffman had been able to about her room until yesterday although she had been extremely feeble for the past three weeks. Survivors include seven children, 46 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A native of Nescopeck Borough, Mrs. Nungesser was born in the old Cooper homestead at the intersection of Cooper and Third streets, Nescopeck, on Oct. 16, 1844. Her maiden name was Susanna Hoffman, and she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hoffman, and resided in the old building until her first marriage.
Husband Killed in War
One month after she married Jacob Daubert, he became a soldier in the Civil War and a short time later while fighting in Maryland with the army of the Potomac, was wounded. He died a few days after suffering the serious wounds. His bride went to Maryland to claim the body and bring it back to this section, with burial in the Conyngham cemetery.
The widow later married Isaac Nungessor and the couple moved to Shepton and later to Unityville. Fifty-five years ago the moved to the Red Rock section and, after spending several years there, came to the home at Greenville. Mr. Nungessor succumbed nineyears ago but his wife continued to live in the home.
Did House And Garden Work
Although 84 years of age at the time of her husband's death, Mrs. Nungesser was active and until about two years ago did most of her own housework and cared for a good sized garden.
Sensible living, plenty of fresh air and wholesome food was given by Mrs. Nungessor as the prescription for a long and health life. At the age of 84 years she made a patchwork quilt and quilted it without aid. Loss of eyesight, although a great hardshipfor the formerly active woman, was cheerfully borne. Refusing offers by her children to live with them, Mrs. Nungessor desired to remain at her home where relatives lived with her.
Children surviving are: Mrs. C.W. Shultz at home with Mrs. Nungessor since 1936; Mrs. Elmer Smith, of Hughesville; Mrs. Charles Travelpiece of Hobbie; Mrs. W.M. Long, of Bloomsburg; Henry Nungessor, of Hughesville; Mrs. Frank Zimmerman of Elysburg; Mrs.Catherine Edwards, of Berwick; John Nungessor, of Bloomsburg, and Mrs. John Setzer, of Berwick.
Children who preceded Mrs. Nungesser in death were Harvey N. Nungesser, Mrs. Hannah Getz, William N. Nungesser.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with a brief service at the late home followed by services in the Summer Hill Evangelical Church. Rev. C.R. Ness will officiate and interment will be made in the Summer Hill cemetery

Mrs. Susan Hoffman Nungesser, formerly of Conyngham and Sheppton, aged 93 years, mourned by 143 descendants, died at her home on the Bewick-Jonestown road. She was the widow of Jacob Daubert, Conyngham soldier killed in a battle in the Civil War one monthafter their marriage. She went to the Maryland battlefield to claim the body and bring it back for burial in the Conyngham cemetery. Later she became the bride of Isaac Nungesser who was one of the founders of Sheppton but moved 55 years ago to Greenville where he died nine years ago. Although 84 years of age at the time of her husband's death, Mrs.Nungesser was active and until about two yeas ago did most of her own housework and cared for a good sized garden.
