Wednesday at the Stark Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was a retired Republic Steel Co. employee
and a resident of the area for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Freda K. on Feb. 21, 1961. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eloise
Postlewaite of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. A
son, Paul of Punta Gorda, Florida. A
brother, Hila of Woodsfield, Ohio. Six
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Dudley Funeral Home,
1015 N. Dixie Highway, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park Mausoleum. Daytona Beach, Fla.

Ambrose J. Biedenbach, 73, of 304 Belford Street,
Caldwell, a retired farmer, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 1) at Good
Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient several days. He was born April
19, 1896, in Monroe County, a son of Joseph and Barbara Muth Biedenbach. He
resided on a farm on Lewisville Route 2 for many years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Biedenbach;
four daughters, Mrs. Dean (Anna Margaret) Maxwell of Malta, Mrs. Gilbert (Lucille)
Huffman of Lewisville Route 2, Mrs. Blair (Stella) Brown of Midway and Mrs.
Denver (Phyllis) Schell of Caldwell Route; a son, Paul Biedenbach of
Sarahsville; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Ehlermann of Caldwell, Mrs. Josephine
Bosold, Mrs. Anna Weisend, and Mrs. Mary Kuhn, all of Canton, and Mrs.
Christine Stiner of Yuma, Ariz; three brothers, Clarence of Oregon, Henry of
Cambridge and Edmund of Lewisville Route 1; 32 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. A daughter and two brothers are deceased.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. Friday at Brubach Funeral Home in Summerfield where the Rosary will be
recited at 8:30 p.m. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St.

Barnesville -- Anthony J. Biedenbach, 77, of 306 West
South Street, a retired farmer, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (July 1) at
Barnesville Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born May
13, 1892, in Monroe County, a son of Joseph and Barbara Muth Biedenbach. Mr.
Biedenbach was a member of the Church of the Assumption, the Holy Name Society,
and the Barnesville Post of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War
I.
Surviving are his widow, Ellen; a daughter, Mrs.
Bernard Dick of Woodsfield, five sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuhn, Mrs. Josephine Bosold
and Mrs. Anna Weisend, all of Canton, Mrs. Christine Steiner of Tucson Ariz.,
and Mrs. Helen Ehlerman of Caldwell; four brothers, Edmond of Lewisville,
Ambrose of Caldwell, Henry of Cambridge and Clarence of Grants Pass, Ore. A
brother, Casper, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held in East Liverpool, Ohio, for
Jonathan Brown, 63, Newbury Park, who died Monday night in a local hospital.
Mr. Brown lived at 3221 Hanover Court. He had been a resident of Ventura County for
five months, moving here from Glendale where he was a pottery manufacturer. He was born Oct. 10, 1905, in St. Marys, W.
Va.
Survivors include five sons: Robert A., Redwood City; James M., Salinas; Brooks H., and John
G., both of Wellsville, Ohio, and Richard, Chester, W. Va. One daughter, Mrs. Donald Wren,* Newbury Park,
and 17 grandchildren also survive.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Griffin
Brothers Funeral Chapel, Thousand Oaks.

Leroy Dale Brown - Cochise
County, Arizona – 1969 Cochise County Sheriff Deputy Leroy Dale Brown, of
Bowie, AZ died Saturday, December 9, 1969 in the line of duty. Mr. Brown served
in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a GM3 onboard the USS Collette.
He also was medically retired from the S&P Railroad where he worked as a
carpenter. He was born September 10, 1931 in Ordway, Colorado to James Elmer
Brown and Pearl Jones Brown.
Deputy Brown is survived by his wife, Clarene “Jackie”
Brown, Bowie; two sons: Jeff, 8; and Todd, 4; his father, J.E. Brown,
Westville, OK; and his mother, Mrs. Pearl Brown, Dos Cabezas. He is also
survived by sisters Jean, Joann, Sandra, and Janie. Deputy Brown was buried in
the Desert Rest Cemetery in Bowie, Arizona on December 12, 1969 with full
honors as family, friends, and many fellow law enforcement officers attended
the funeral.

Assailant Shoots Self
AZ Range News - Dec 11, 1969
Cochise County Deputy Sheriff Leroy Brown, 38, was
shot to death Saturday and his assailant later died of a self-inflicted gunshot
wound.
Sheriff Jim Willson said Brown was shot two or three
times by Andres Griego, 20 of Bowie, at a restaurant. Griego was taken to
Tucson Medical Center following the slaying, where he was pronounced dead from
a gunshot wound to the head. His body was found in a Bowie school yard.
Willson said Griego has threatened Brown and and two
other deputies following his arrest in August for disturbing the peace. Griego
spent 30 days in jail on the charge, and after being released, went to
Superior, AZ. Willson said Griego apparently did not return to Bowie until
Saturday.
The Sheriff said Griego entered a restaurant where Brown
was, apparently after seeing the deputy sheriff there.
After entering the restaurant, Willson said, Griego
ordered a cup of "hot, hot coffee," Griego went over to the table
where Brown and another man was seated and threw the coffee in the deputy's face.
As Brown got up, Willson said, Griego pulled a .25 caliber automatic from a
paper bag and shot the deputy in the face. Willson said Griego shot Brown at
least one more time, and may have fired a third shot.
Following the shooting, the Sheriff said Griego fled
the restaurant and ran some two blocks to the city's high school where he shot
himself.
A coroner's inquest held after the shooting confirmed
that the deputy had been shot and killed by Griego.
Deputy Brown is survived by his wife, Clarene “Jackie”
Brown, Bowie; two sons: Jeff, 8; and Todd, 4; his father, J.E. Brown,
Westville, OK; and his mother, Mrs. Pearl (Jones) Brown, Dos Cabezas. Also
survived by sisters Jean, Joann, Sandra, and Janie.

Mrs. Nomi [sic--NAOMI] Brown, 75, 113 Goodrich Ave.,
died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where
she had been a patient for three months.
She had been in failing health three years.
Services will be at the Murphy Mortuary at 2:00 p.m.
Monday, with the Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Burial in the Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2:00
p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Brown was born in Shelbyville Dec. 27, 1893, the
daughter of John and Effie M. (Land) Wicker.
Survivors are one son, John Monroe, at home; two daughters,
Miss Cynthia Monroe, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Viola Nash, Marietta; 11
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
QUAKER CITY – Funeral services for Guy D. Brownfield,
69, Quaker City, will be at 1:30 p. m. Saturday at Eberle Funeral Home with

will be in Friends Cemetery.

Chevrolet Co., he died at 8:30 p. m. Wednesday (Nov. 26, 1969) at Barnesville
Hospital following a long illness. He
was born July 4, 1900 at Calais, the son of Romulus and Julietta Wells
Brownfield.
Mr. Brownfield leaves two brothers, Stewart
Brownfield, Quaker City and Roy Brownfield, Columbus; two sisters, Rachel of
Columbus, and Nora of the home; several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and three brothers are
deceased.

SUMMERFIELD -- Mrs. Eugenia M. Campbell, 87, of
Lewisville Route 1 in the Burkhart community, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday (April 8)
at her home following a short illness. She was born April 11, 1882, in Monroe
County, a daughter of Louis and Mary Schehl Dick. She was first married to
George Burkhart, who died in 1918. She later married Walter Campbell, who died
in 1956. She lived for many years in Piqua [Miami Co., OH], returning to Monroe
County in 1968.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ida Baisley with
whom she made her home, and Mrs. Minnie Kuhn of Lewisville Route 1; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A brother and sister are deceased.
Friends may call at Brubach Funeral Home in Summerfield
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.,. Thursday. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Lona Campbell of
Hope Dies
Mrs. Lona Campbell, 81, died today at the Columbus
Convalescent center. A resident of Hope,
she had been seriously ill since March.
Mrs. Campbell was born May 11, 1888 in Shelby county, the
daughter of David and Harriett Lattea Pope.
Her husband, Bert A. Campbell, died July 16, 1965. She was the last of a family of 14 children.
Survivors include
seven children, Mrs. Gladys Cathers, Mrs. Virginia Hayes and Fred C. Campbell
of Columbus; Mrs. Hazel Hendrickson and Mrs. Mary Gruhl, both of Hope; Paul
Campbell of Tampa, Fla., and Charles Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio; 14 grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be conducted by the Rev. Everrett Hayes at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at
the Norman funeral home in Hope where persons may call after 3 p.m.
Saturday. Burial will be at Lewis Creek
Baptist cemetery.

William A. Candler son of William J. and Bertha Candler was
born in Linton, Indiana, October 26, 1915 and died July 14, 1969 at Wallace
Hospital, Lebanon. He was 53 years of
age.
On June 28, 1937 he was married to Audrey Brim. He served in the United States Army for a
while. He was a member of the Nebo Christian
Church, serving as Deacon of the church at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; four daughters, Audrey
E., Janie, Mary Ann and Billie Joan, all of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Laura
Leek of Terre Haute, Indiana, Mrs. Nellie Pagett [sic–Padgett] of
Linton, Indiana and Mrs. Janie [sic–Jannie] Templeton of Kansas City,
Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Paul Christman, 36, former Barnesville resdent,
died Oct. 9,* 1969 at his home in Columbus.
He was born at Woodsfield, June 19, 1933, a son of Irene Nalley
Christman and Paul Christman.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his father, Paul and step-mother, Mildred
Christman of Woodsfield; a daughter, Kathy Lynn of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. J.
D. Hupp of Canton; a step-sister, Mrs. William Weddle, Woodsfield.

here where services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery,

Claude C. Claybaugh, 90, lifelong resident of Toulon, died
at the Kewanee Public Hospital on Friday, January 17, where he had been a
patient since November.
Mr. Claybaugh was a painter and decorator.
He was the son of Edgar and Lavina Kindade [sic--Kinkade]
Claybaugh and was born, August 31, 1878 near Saxon. He was married to Minnie Westerfield, on June 23, 1904 in
Kewanee. He served as First Ward
Alderman in Toulon for many years.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Edgar of Los Angeles,
Calif., and Robert of Toulon; four daughters, Miss Eleanor Claybaugh of Galva, Miss Margaret Claybaugh, at home,
Sister Marie Kevin of Chicago, and Mrs. R. D. (Lois) Carroll of Wyoming; four
grandchildren, Lois and Teresa Carroll of Wyoming, Pfc. Robert P. Carroll
serving in Vietnam and Frederick Claybaugh of Peoria; a sister, Mrs. Edith
Kilby of Coal Valley and two half sisters, Mrs. Clara Goodwin of Toulon and
Mrs. Mary Hobbs of Galva.
He was
preceded in death by two sons.
Funeral
services were held Monday, January 20 at 10 a.m. at the Kidd Funeral Home,
Toulon, with the Rev. Eugene Anderson, pastor of the Toulon Baptist Church
officiating. Organ selections were
played by Miss Esther Claybaugh.
Pall bearers were, Paul Zeigler, Clyde Ham, Ray Bruning,
Carl McMullen, Ben Parker and Wilbur Blank.
Burial
was in the family plot in the Toulon Municipal Cemetery.

Hiram
W. Crouch, 62, 41-year employe [sic] of Reeves division of Reliance Electric
company, died Sunday at Bartholomew county hospital where he had been a patient
a week after suffering a heart attack.
He lived at 2401 Indiana avenue.
Rites
will be conducted at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at the East Columbus United Methodist
church by the Rev. Charles Taylor and the Rev. Gilbert Curry. Burial will be at Garland Brook
cemetery. Persons may call from 2 to 9
p.m. and until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Barkes and Inlow funeral home and after
11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Born in
Brown county Sept. 29, 1906, Mr. Crouch was the son of Daniel and Bertha Snyder
Crouch. He married the former Doris
Voland in 1932 and had lived in Columbus for 37 years. He was a member of the East Columbus United
Methodist church.
Surviving with his wife are a son, James J. Crouch of Taylorsville; a
brother, Charles Crouch of 221 Cleveland street; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Mobley
of Decatur, Neb., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, John, Dewey and
Courtney Crouch and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Reed, Mrs. Esta Holman, Mrs. Lena
Meyers and Mrs. Dorval Griner.

Mrs. Mary Francis* Dawson, 47, of Homestead Dr. was dead on
arrival at City Hospital, Friday at 8:40 p.m. after taking ill at the East
Liverpool High School basketball game.
She was a seventh-grade teacher at St. Aloysius School and
had been an instructor there since 1957.
Mrs. Dawson was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Sebring High School
and attended Youngstown State University.
She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in East Liverpool, a daughter
of the late Edward Runion and Alice Cronin Runion, and had resided here most of
her life.
Survivors include her husband, Harry N. Dawson, a daughter,
Mrs. Darrell (Judith Ann) Hall of Kent; three sisters, Mrs. John (Margaret)
Williams of Sebring, Mrs. Jack (Phyllis) Moderalli [sic--Modarelli] of
Struthers and Mrs. Jack (Pat) Copeland of Lorain.
Services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius
Catholic Church. Burial will be in
Riverview Cemetery.

-- Omer Franklin Denney, 53, of 505 1/2 High avenue west, died Wednesday night
at his home.
The son
of Thomas and Daisy Perkins Denney, he was born April 6, 1916, at Rose
Hill. A veteran of World War II, he was
a mechanic and arc welder.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas Denney and Daisy Denney, both of
Oskaloosa; two sons, Larry Denney of San Jose, Calif., and Charles Denney of
Dubuque; five daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Goemaat and Mrs. Barbara Williams, both
of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Karen Hols of Oskaloosa, and Diana and Janie Denney,
both of Dubuque; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Ring of Riceville and Mrs. Ethel

Mrs. Estella DeNoon, 88, of 1022 Lisbon St. died at
Geraldine's Nursing Home Tuesday at 10:50 p.m. after an illness of two
years. She had been a patient in the
home about six weeks.
She was born June 3, 1881, in Tyler County, West Va., a
daughter of the late Greenberry and Nancy Miller. She had resided in this area since 1907.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd DeNoon; a son, Homer
Wright of East Liverpool; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Freda) Conley and Mrs.
Lawrence (Laura) Johnson, both of East Liverpool; a sister, Mrs. Vinnie
Buchanan of St. Marys, W. Va.; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren. Her first
husband, Lancer Wright, died in 1928.
Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Martin
Funeral Home by the Rev. H. Dean McElroy of the Calvary United Methodist
Church. Burial will be in Calcutta United

Christ, the Eagles Auxiliary, the War Mothers, Gold Star Mothers, Navy Mothers,
VFW Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors Lodge of Wheeling.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; one son, Alvin, of
Robert's Ridge; two sons preceded her in death; one daughter, Mrs. Nalma Lou
South, RD 1, Moundsville; two brothers, Earl of Limestone, and Lawrence of
Moundsville; one sister, Mrs. Edith Carte, Waterford, Mich.; seven
grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
Family
will receive friends at the Lutes Funeral Home, Moundsville, Tuesday from 7-9
p.m. and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Services there Thursday at 3 p.m. with Brother Gene West, Hillview

Longtime Valley Resident,
Dies
Mrs.
Elizabeth M. Faber, 90, widow of the late Edward C. Faber, longtime Southern
Oregon merchant, died Monday at Central Point where she had made her home for
more than 60 years.
Prominent in numerous organizations of the town, Mrs. Faber also worked
in the family store, established in 1909, during her younger years. She came with her husband from Ohio with a
stopover in Hornick, Iowa, where Mr. Faber was in business with Chester
McDonald with whom he started the Central Point and other Southern Oregon
stores.
The
family settled on Old Stage Road in 1908 and then moved into Central Point with
establishment of the Faber-McDonald Store.
Mrs. Faber went to Merrill in 1915 when a store was established there,
but retained the home at Central Point to which she soon returned.
She was
a member and several times president of the Central Point Parent-Teacher
Association, of Eastern Star, the William Harrison chapter of the Women Relief
Corps, the Auxiliary of Myers Holland Post of the American Legion and the
Presbyterian Church of Central Point.
Her
son, Everett C. Faber, still operates the store in Central Point at the
location it has occupied since 1910.
Other
survivors are a son, Donald E. Faber, also of Central Point, a daughter, Mrs.
Frances Mitchell, Concord, Calif.; three grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren.
Funeral
services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Perl Funeral Home.

John H. Fishback, 86, 203 Fountain, was found dead at his
home at about 5 p.m. Saturday. The
death, which had occurred some 15 minutes earlier, was attributed to natural
causes. His wife, the former Ella
Moore, is a patient in Reid Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Fishback was born November 3, 1883, in Williamstown,
Ind. to William and Amanda Britton Fishback.
He moved to Connersville in 1928 and retired 15 years ago from McQuay-Norris
employment.
Besides his wife, to whom he was married in February,
1915,* in Greensburg, survivors are three stepchildren, Winfred Brunner of
Connersville, Mrs. Viola Davis of San Diego, Calif., and Winona Duvall of Antioch,
Calif.; a brother, Everett Fishback of Manilla; three sisters, Mrs. Lora Warman
of Holton, Mrs. Roxie Murphy of Milroy, and Mrs. Stella Richey of Rushville;
seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers
Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Myers officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

Fred M.
Fisher, 82, of Lewisville died around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning at his home. He was found dead in his bedroom seemingly
having suffered a heart attack or a stroke as he was dressing. He seemed in good health as he attended an
American Legion meeting in Woodsfield Monday evening.
He was
born Nov. 24, 1886, in Lewisville, son of the late Grant and Mary Paith
Fisher. He was a member of the Buchanan
Presbyterian Church, veteran of WWI and
member of American Legion. He was a
retired employee of Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield.
His
wife, Rosa Weber Fisher, preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1968. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Veterans services will be held at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home here
this evening at 8 o'clock where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon
at 2 o'clock with Rev. Boyd Burd officiating.
Burial will be in the Buchanan Cemetery.

Three Die,
2 Hurt
In Dade Accidents
Three persons, two of them teenagers, died and two others
lay in critical condition following four* separate accidents on Dade's streets
Monday.
The 1969 traffic death toll rose to 61 which compares to 78
deaths recorded at this same time last year.
An 18-year-old youth from Columbus, Ohio, was killed and
his friend, also 18 and from Columbus, was critically injured when a rented
Yamaha motor bike which they were driving collided with a truck which the
Florida Highway Patrol said failed to yield to a stop sign.
Dead at the scene was Dale E. Fuller who was a passenger on
the bike. Patrick Reed, who was
driving, was taken to Baptist Hospital where he was listed as critical.
THE ACCIDENT occurred at 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of
Krome Ave. and the Tamiami Trail. The
driver of the truck, Charles Powell Jr. of Tampa, was charged with failing to
yield. according to the Highway Patrol.

Kills 3
Three people are dead and two injured, one seriously, after
a two-car head-on collision on Ohio 16 east of Newark.
Killed about two yesterday afternoon were passengers: Rose Ann Givens, 20, of 403 1/2 Maple Ave.,
her daughter, Sheryl,* two months, and the driver of the other vehicle,
Margaret Nichols, 43, of Coshocton.
There were no passengers in the Nichols' auto.
Listed in poor condition at Licking County Memorial
Hospital is O'Neil Hersman, 43, of Rt. 2, Warsaw, while Leon Givens, 28,
husband of the dead woman, is in fair condition.
The two women and baby girl were the county's first three
traffic fatalities of 1969.
The accident occurred about six miles east of Newark, just
west of the corporate limits of Hanover.
The highway patrol reported that the car driven by Hersman
was going east, and in attempting to pass a vehicle, hit the Nichols' auto
head-on.
Harold McDonald of Rt. 1, Newark, was driving in back of
the Hersman auto at the time of the accident.
He said at the scene that he didn't see the collision, but
only heard "something which sounded like an explosion."
All four persons in the Hersman car were thrown from the
vehicle, according to reports. The
Nichols' woman was pinned inside.
The highway patrol said that both vehicles were equipped
with seat belts, but that no one in either car was wearing them.
Sections of the front hood of the Hersman auto were strewn
down an embankment on the south side of the road, and the Nichols' vehicle had
its front license plate torn off from the force of the impact.
The accident caused east and westbound traffic to be jammed
up for two miles, and the highway patrol reported that the last officer did not
leave the scene until about 5:10 p.m.*
The patrol said the accident is still under investigation.
Services for Mrs. Givens and her daughter, Sheryl* Lynn,
will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Morrow-Crouse Funeral Home, Granville, with burial
in Wilson Cemetery. The Rev. A. Gary
Angleberger will officiate.
Mrs. Givens was born May 30, 1948, in Granville, the
daughter of Ralph E. and Mammie Dixon Collins Jr.
She attended Granville High School and married Leon Oliver
Givens in Heath, Sept. 30,1956.***
She is survived by her husband and parents, one sister,
Mrs. John Givens of Newark; two brothers, Ralph and Grant of Granville, and her
grandmother, Mrs. Ralph E. Collins Sr. of Granville.
Sheryl Lynn Givens, born Nov. 21, 1968, in Licking County
Memorial Hospital, is survived by her paternal grandparents, Mr. Clarence
Barcus and Frances Givens, both of Newark.

-- Edwin W. Goodballet, 62, of 635 W. Washington St., died at 11:05 a.m. Monday
in Salem City Hospital where he was admitted Friday. He had been in failing health several years.
He was
born Oct. 12, 1906, in East Liverpool, a son of Lyman and Margaret Ward
Goodballet.
Mr.
Goodballet was associated with Stark Memorial, Inc. of Salem until 1946, worked
for Homan Dairy of Lisbon until 1951 and was employed at the Henry Funeral Home
here until retiring in 1965.
He was
a member of First Presbyterian Church, Perry Lodge, F&AM of Salem, R.A.M.
Chapter of Salem, Salem Commandery, Omega Council of Salem, Salem Chapter of
the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past patron of OES, past high priest
(R.A.M.) and past, super excellent master (Omega Council). He was also a member of the Past Matrons and
Patrons Association of Lisbon O.E.S., and the Lisbon Kiwanis Club.
He
leaves his wife, the former Helen Trunick, whom he married Oct. 10, 1941, and
his father who made his home with them.

service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Henry Funeral Home with the Rev.

St., Lisbon, formerly of Salem, died at the Hutton Nursing Home here at 3 a.m.
today following an extended illness.
Born
Sept. 20, 1878, in Archers Fork, he was the son of Henry and Eveline Pryor
Goodballet. He was a retired local
manager of the Freedom Oil Co. He had
lived the past five years in Lisbon.
The previous 50 years he had resided in Salem. He served one term in City Council back in the Thirties.
His
wife, Margaret, preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1964. His son, Edwin, died last Feb. 3.
The
only survivor is Mrs. Edwin Goodballet, a daughter-in-law.
He was
a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Salem and the First Presbyterian Church of
Lisbon.

James Frank Hidenrite, 69, a former resident of 14 McDonald
for eight years, died at 5:45 p.m. yesterday (March 10, 1969) in the Vermilion
Nursing Home where he had been a patient since last April 24.
Born July 28, 1899, in Evansville, Ind., he was a son of
Frank and Nannie Betford Hidenrite. His
schooling was in Evansville.
He operated a meat market in Evansville before coming to
Danville in 1936. He was employed here
by the Kroger Grocery Co. for five years, the Grab-It-Here stores for five
years, and the East Side Market for 15 years before retiring in 1967. He was a meat cutter.
He was married in 1919 to Freda Demmit, who preceded him in
death.
Surviving from this marriage are a son, Frank M. Hidenrite
of Evansville, and a daughter, Margurita Hidenrite of Evansville.
He was married in 1938 to Blanche May Casteel, who preceded
him in death April 17, 1959.
Surviving from this marriage are two stepdaughters, Mrs.
Harry (Barbara Ellen) Lenhart of Georgetown and Mrs. Howard (Betty Jo) Arant,

In 1928 he was united in marriage with Manola Bramhall, to
this union was born one son Robert Lee.
His wife preceded him in death in January of 1934.
March 3, 1935 he was united in marriage with Ruby Manes, to
this union were born two children, David and Nancy.
At the time of his death he was employed by the Department
of Revenue, State of Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; two sons,
Robert Hough, Lebanon and David Hough, Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy
Rensena [sic--Rensema], Lebanon; one brother, Tom Hough, Lebanon; two
sisters, Mrs. Lee Crain, Springfield and Mrs. Bill Clemons, Denver Colorado;
two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

resided her adult life in East Liverpool, and attended the Wellsville
church. Her husband died in 1961.

Kent of Lowellville, Carl Kent of Haywood, Calif., and Billy Kent, at home;
three daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Baker of East Liverpool, Mrs. Alva
(Mary) Thornhill of Lisbon and Mrs. Lillian McDole of Orangeburg, S. C.; two
brothers, Howard Leroy Brewer of Columbus and Orville Brewer of East Liverpool,
27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

St., who died Thursday at West Tenth St. Veterans Hospital, will be at 10:00

Mr. Kinney, ill several years, was admitted to the hospital
July 8. He lived in Shelbyville 16
years and formerly was a horse groom at the local fairground. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian
Church near Nineveh, the local Legion post and Eagles Lodge, and was an Army
Veteran of World War II.
Born in New Castle Oct. 17, 1909, he was the son of
Benjamin H. and Georgia (Lloyd) Kinney.
On May 17, 1953, he married Dorothy Hudson who survives.
Other survivors are his mother in Connersville; four

Rev. Paul V. Kirkman, 40, of Dugger, pastor of the Gospel
Tabernacle church, located between Dugger and Linton, was pronounced dead on
arrival at the Freeman-Greene County hospital after suffering an apparent heart
attack at 9 p.m. Thursday at his home.
Rev. Kirkman was born in Sullivan County July 29, 1928, the
son of Sherman and Lessie Beal Kirkman.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Beatrice Miller Kirkman; a
daughter, Mrs. Rosemarie Jarman of Linton; the mother, Mrs. Lessie Kirkman of
Dugger; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Pierce of Bloomfield and Mrs. Mary Bennett of

James Edward Morgenstern, 45, of 231 Franklin St. died
about 2 a.m. today following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 21, 1923, in Moss Run, a son of Edward
Christopher and Lula Grace Snodgrass Morgenstern.
Mr. Morgenstern had been engaged in construction work. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II
and was a member of American Legion.
Two daughters survive, Mrs. Donna Ritchie of Marietta and
Miss Joyce Morgenstern of Cincinnati, with three grandchildren. His mother, Mrs. Lula Morgenstern, resides
in Marietta, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Neader, lives in Cincinnati. His father and one sister Frances, preceded
him in death.

Saturday following an apparent heart attack at her home.

and the VFW Auxiliary.

24, 1954.

CONNEAUT (RP) --
William J. Pratt, 80, formerly of 422 State St., died this morning in
Char-Lotte Rest Home, Rock Creek.
Born in Jefferson Township, Pleasant [sic--Pleasants] County,
W. Va., Aug. 13, 1888, he was the son of Samuel W. and Anne (Cronin) Pratt.
He resided in Conneaut since 1924 and prior to that lived in
Buffalo and Conneaut. He had been
employed as a locomotive engineer for the former Nickel Plate Railroad. He retired Feb. 13, 1957, after 50 years of
service.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. F. B. (Ardys) Coe,
Clyde, Mrs. Richard (Ann) Grant, Conneaut, Mrs. Jane Laughlin,
Geneva-on-the-Lake, and Mrs. Edgar (Betty) Carroll, Conneaut; a son, Richard,
Conneaut; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eunice White, Eagleville, and
Mrs. Mae Uttterback, Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida May, in 1961, a
son, John, in 1921, a granddaughter, Mary Ann Pratt, in 1945, a grandson, Lt.
Thomas B. Grant killed in combat in Vietnam, Jan. 28, 1966, a brother, Phillip
C. and two sisters, Millie Birkeimer [sic--Birkhimer] and Fannie Ellis.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's
Church.
Burial
will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Funeral services for U.S. Army Sgt. Donald R. Rhodes, 26, of
RR 8 Schlensker Rd., who was killed in action in Vietnam Feb.26, will be at 2
p.m. Monday at Miller and Miller Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Livermore will officiate. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Sgt. Rhodes, a member of Company A, First Infantry
Division, died of wounds and burns received in combat. He was in his fifth year of military
service, and he had been in Vietnam 22 months.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; a daughter, Juanita Pearl, at home; his
parents; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Rhodes of St. Wendell, Ind.; four brothers,
Michael of Evansville, Billy, Gary and Gilbert, all of St. Wendell; a sister,
Mrs. Judy Allen of Evansville; his grandmother, Mrs. Eva Cooper of Evansville;
and his stepgrandfather, Andy Cooper of Evansville.

Woodsfield -- John A. Schumacher, 83, of Woodsfield, a
retired farmer and house painter, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday (July 1) following
a six-month illness. Born near Woodsfield Aug. 9 1885, he was a son of George
and Mary Weisend Schumacher. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church
and its Holy Name and Purgatorial societies.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred of Woodsfield and John
of Pittsburgh, Pa; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Meyers of Potosi, Mo., Mrs.
Esther Foskill of Hartford, Conn, and Mrs. Grace Lynch of Pittsburgh, Pa; 12
grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Mary Glesenkamp
Schumacher, died in 1940.

Harry D. Smith, 64, of 320 Carroll St. died Samaritan
Hospital this morning after a six- month illness.
Born in Monroe County Jan. 17, 1905, he was the son of
Riley and Dora (Drake) Smith and had lived in Ashland for the past 58 Years.
Mr. Smith was employed by the State Highway Department
for the past 15 years.
In 1939, he was married to Goldie Clark.
Survivors include his widow ; one daughter, Mrs.
Marian McLaughlin of Mansfield; two granddaughters; two brothers, Ellsworth and
Grover, both of Ashland; one sister, Mrs. Ida Paxton of Ashland; and several
nieces and nephews.
His parents, two-sisters and one brother preceded him
in death.
Mr. Smith was a member of Church of Christ, Steele
Avenue.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at
Heyl and Robbins Funeral Home with Rev. J. A. Gladwell officiating. Burial will
be in Ashland County Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mary Ann Coen Stine, 81, of 10 Washington St., Newell,
a retired potter, died this morning at 12:35 at City Hospital after a long
illness. She had been a patient three
days.
She was born in St. Mary's, W. Va., April 21, 1887, a
daughter of the late William H. Coen and Hulda Cronin Coen. She had resided in the Newell area about 60
years. She had been employed in he
decorating shop of the former Edwin M. Knowles China Co. She was a charter member of the Newell First
United Methodist Church.
She leaves a son, Clayton Stine of Newell, eight
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church by the

Malcolm C. Sutton, 65, of 4113 Kingsmoor Dr., died Friday
in Mercy Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Sutton, born in Grover Hill, O., lived in Toledo most
of his life. He was the owner of
Shriver Rubber Products Co. for the last 12 years, and altogether was employed
by the company 30 years.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the Long Beach Yacht Club
Association, Oak Harbor.
Surviving are his wife, Marie M.; daughters, Mrs. Marilyn
J. Teaderman, of Toledo, and Mrs. Madilyn* Leake of Montvale, N.J.; son,
Marshall, of Pacifica, Calif.; brothers Maxwell of Toledo, and Marion of

PAULDING -- Mrs. Mary A. Sutton,
71, 746 N. Walnut St., died about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, in
the Paulding County Hospital, where she was a patient two and a half months.
She was
born July 11, 1898, in Grover Hill, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Brenner,
and was the widow of Lloyd Sutton who died in 1944. Mrs. Sutton was a caseworker for the Division of Aid for the
Aged, Paulding office, retiring about 10 years ago.
She was
a member of First Christian Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Lloyd (Dude), Payne, and William R., Paulding;
three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Kathryn) Lewis, Toledo; Mrs. Glenn (Gloria) Condon
and Mrs. Jim (Dorothy) Thompson, Paulding; a brother, Daniel Brenner, Toledo,

She was born September 22, 1885, at Fly, a daughter of Henry and Lucinda
Hendershot Belford. Mrs. Tenley was a member of the Locust Grove

TEUFEL, Theresa Burkhart, 73, a resident of 301
Jefferson Avenue, Clator, died in the Wheeling Hospital Friday. She was
born August 25, 1896, in Ohio, a daughter of the late Andrew and Rose
Burkhart. She had been a resident of Wheeling most of her life. She
was a member of St. Michael's Ctholic Church and the Christian Mothers Society.

Harrison Street, Bellaire, Ohio, died Sunday afternoon, April 6, 1969, at

She was born on August 29,1912, near Graysville, the daughter of the
late Alexander Hamilton and Minnie Lucas Highman. Mrs. Travnicek was a member of The First United Presbyterian
Church of Bellaire.

Forrest Turner, 94, former West Salem mayor and one of the oldest West Salem
residents, died Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Grace Richert of RD, Polk.
The son
of Henry and Mary Ellen (Nalley) Turner, he was born Aug. 6, 1875, in Monroe
County.
Mr.
Turner had been mayor of West Salem for three terms from 1950-56.
In
Monroe County, he taught school and worked in the oil fields. He was a former member of the Woodsfield
Masonic Lodge and Odd Fellows Lodge.
Mr.
Turner also had been employed at Schott Poultry Co. in West Salem, Spencer Axle
Mfg. Co. in Spencer and the F.E. Myers
& Bro. Co. in Ashland.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence of Shreve and Guy of Coshocton; two
daughters, Mrs. Reah Leibfarth of Ashland and Mrs. Richert; one brother, Asher
Turner of Crystal, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Latimer of Woodsfield and
Mrs. Ethel Fisher of Seminole, Okla.; five grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
His
wife, Anna, preceded him in death in 1951.
Two daughters, one son, two grandchildren, seven brothers and two
sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral
service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Matteson Funeral Home, West Salem,
with Rev. LaRoy Ruble officiating.
Burial will be in Woodsfield where graveside service will be held at
1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Vice, 61,
Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Olive Vice, 61, of the Ritz Apartments, died early
this morning at Major Hospital where she had been admitted Tuesday
evening. She had been in failing health
for several years.
Mrs. Vice had been an employe of the Admiral Corp. until
her retirement and previously had been employed at the KCL corp. She was a member of the Lewis Creek Baptist
Church.
Born in Shelby County on Sept. 2, 1908, Mrs. Vice was the
daughter of Ernest and Bertha (McCarty) Pope.
In September, 1934,* she was married to Esta Vice, who died Sept. 21,
1939. A brother also preceded in death.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Doris) Courtney of
Shelbyville and Mrs. Raymond (Eva) Cherry of Shelby Township.
Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy
Mortuary, with the Rev. James H. Horner officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m. Thursday.

Harry
Voland, 42, of R. 3, Nashville, died at his home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. He had apparently suffered a heart attack.
A
native of Brown County, he was born June 12, 1926, the son of Eddie and Hazel
(Allender) Voland. He had been employed
by Cummins Engine Co., Columbus, for the last 16 years.
He had
graduated from Nashville High School, was a member of the Brown County Country
club, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is
survived by his wife, the former Peggy Jones, who he married on Sept. 30, 1944
in Nashville.
Also
surviving are two sons and three daughters, Bill, Timothy Allen, Susan, Karen,
and Peggy Ann, all at home; three brothers, Lloyd Voland of Nashville, Paul
Voland, of Indianapolis, and Richard Voland, of Morgantown; and two sisters,
Mrs. Dorval McDonald of Nashville and Mrs. Pauline Rogers, of rural Bloomington.

services were Tuesday at the Bond Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Howard
Small officiating. Burial was in

55, Dies in
Indianapolis
Martin Ward, 55, of Route 5, died today at Veterans
hospital in Indianapolis. He had been
in failing health for two years and hospitalized for four weeks.
Funeral services
will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reed funeral home by the Rev.
Garland Johnson. Persons may call after
1 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Ward was born in Bartholomew county on Feb.14,* 1914,
the son of Walter and Mary Rambo Ward.
He spent his entire life in Bartholomew county. He was a veteran of the second world war and
a member of the South Bethany Christian church.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Margaret; his mother,
Mrs. Mary Ward of Kennedy trailer court; four sons, Carl Ward of Greensburg,
Arthur and Larry Ward of Route 5 and Billy, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn
Dill of Jewell Village; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil Ward of
Kennedy trailer court, Earl Ward of Waymansville and Robert Ward of Lowell
addition; two sisters, Muriel Ritchey of Columbus and Fern Artis of
Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by twin sons in 1961**, his father
in 1955 and a brother.

Funeral
services for Mrs. Clara Weber, 86, Lewisville Rt. 1, were held Tuesday
afternoon at the Buchanan United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Boyd Burd officiated and burial was in the church

Mrs.
Weber died Feb. 22, 1969, at the Barnesville Hospital following a long illness.
She was

Wehr, Donald
G. Wehr
Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated,
Sgt.
Donald Gene Wehr, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wehr, who reside on Route 148,
south of Barnesville, Ohio was one of the 124 United States servicemen killed
November 1st in Vietnam by U.S. artillery fire.
According
to information given his parents, the Army sergent was participating in
operations in the Queng Nagi Valley when he suffered the fatal wounds.
A 1967
graduate of Barnesville High School, Sgt. Wehr entered the service
He was
based at ChuLei with Company C. 3rd Battalion, 1st
Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade.
Sgt. Wehr
was to go to Australia in two weeks for a rest and rehabilition leave and would
have finished his tour in Vietnam in May, 1970.
The oldest
of eight children, he was born
While a
Barnesville High School student, Sgt. Wehr was employed at Binns Market and at
the M-K Supermarket on North Chestnut St. Following his graduation, he worked
at the National Cash Register plant at Cambridge.
Last
summer, he became engaged to Robin Ritchie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard
Ritchie, of Barnesville. They planned to be married next Fall.
Surviving
are his parents; three brothers, Thomas, James Jr., and Ronnie, all of the
home; four sisters, Phyllis, Linda, Brenda and Patricia, also of the home; and
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Bintz, of Lewisville, Ohio, Route 1.

Wiley, Corinne S Wiley [24 Mar 1904 – 26 Oct 1969]

Mrs Corinne S Wiley, 65, of 409 N Fourth St, died at
7:45 am Sunday following an extended illness.
She was born in Cowen, WVa, March 24, 1904, a daughter
of the late Morgan A and Nancy Ellen Hamrick Morris.
Mrs Wiley was preceded in death by her husband,
William Wiley.
Surviving are two brothers, Roy M Morris, 303 W Pike
St and Daniel Kessler Morris of Gore; and one sister, Mrs Harold (Leeora)
Roush, 261 Clay St. Two nieces and two
nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mrs Wiley was a Protestant by faith.

Mamie Willgus, nee Simpson

Mrs. Mamie Willgus, 75, of Tell City, died at 11:45 p.m.
Friday, May 30 at Perry County Memorial Hospital apparently of a stroke,
shortly after being admitted.
A native of Perry County, she was born April 19, 1894 the
daughter of the late Hiram and Cyrina Morris Simpson.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Olive Kleeman,
Tell City, Mrs. Audrey Hess, Richmond, Ill., and Mrs. Lillian Conner, Spring
Grove, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Branch, Schoolcraft, Mich., and Mrs. Ida
McMahan, Tell City; a brother, Ernest Simpson of Birdseye; 15 grandchildren and
27 great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Finch Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs.
Elsie Wilson, resident of 423 N. 8th St., Martins Ferry, died Tuesday at 8:30
p.m. in Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling, where she had been a patient
the past several days. She was born in
Martins Ferry, March 8, 1896.
She was
a member of the Martins Ferry First United Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Wilson, Sept. 21, 1966, she is
survived by three daughters, Mrs. William (Kathleen) DuJardin, Martins Ferry
and Misses Grace and Gloria Wilson, both of the home; three brothers, John
and Wilbur Geis, both of Martins Ferry and Herman of Bakersfield, Calif.; four
sisters, Mrs. Albert Withers, Martins Ferry, Mrs. Owen Myers, Brookside, Mrs.
Kellie Conway, Bridgeport and Mrs. Warren Wright, Wheeling; three grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Friends
will be received at the Heslop Funeral home, Martins Ferry, after 7 p.m.
Thursday. Services will be held
Saturday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home with Dr. Niles Southwick
officiating. Burial will be in
Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

J.
Albert Wilson, 525 Ralston Ave., Martins Ferry, died this morning at 7 a.m. at
his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Tyler County, W. Va., July 5 1892.*
He was
a member of the Martins Ferry First Baptist Church and a retired employe of the
Martins Ferry plant of Wheeling - Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
Surviving are his widow,
Hazel Stead Wilson; five daughters, Mrs. Lester (Alberta) Thornton, Pinelles
Park, Fla., Mrs. Charles (Betty) Dowdell and Mrs. Irvin (Bernice) Speidel, both
of Martins Ferry, Mrs. Audra Miller of Sylmar, Calif. and Debra Wilson, at
home; two sons Charles Albert of Massillon and James of Norfolk, Va., one
brother, Raymond of Martins Ferry; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Marsh of Wheeling,
Mrs. Nancy Hartenstein of Warren and Mrs. Audra Teare of Martins Ferry; 29
grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Friends
will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Martins Ferry, after 7 p.m.
Tuesday. Arrangements are incomplete.

Edna Windland, nee Talbott

Mrs. Edna Talbott Windland, 46, of 265 E. Pennsylvania
Ave., Sebring, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Alliance City Hospital at
7:30 a.m. yesterday following a lingering illness.
She is survived by her husband, Karl, and a son, Earl of
the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Talbott Sr. of Whittier,
Calif.; brother, William Talbott Jr.,
of Whittier; and a sister, Mrs. Sally Lewis, of Arlington, Tex. She was preceded in death by three
daughters, Karene, Karen and Karla.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Vogt-Gednetz
Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. C. O. Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral
home.
Zwick, Isadore
Alexander Zwick
Isadore Alexander Zwick was born on 31 Jul 1889 in
Stafford, Monroe Co., OH.. He died on 11 Oct 1969 in Louisville, Stark Co.,
OH.)
Isadore Zwick, age 80, of 215 North Chapel St.,
Louisville, passed away Saturday Oct. 11, [1969] in St. Joseph’s Hospice after
a short illness. Born in Monroe County, he worked in the Canton area for 45
years. He was a World War I veteran and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church,
Louisville American Legion Post No. 548 and Louisville Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by a brother, Clement G. Zwick of
Louisville, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Reischman of Miltonsburg.
Services were held in St. Louis Church on Tuesday with
interment in the church cemetery. Paquelet Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
