Sammet, John H. Sammet

        John H. Sammet, age 81, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010. John had worked over 20 years at Columbus Showcase. Preceded in death by parents Conrad F. Sr. and Frances M. Sammet, sisters Anna Staley and Mary Slane. Survived by sisters and brother, Arlene (Earl) Wall, Louise (Hubert) Wallace, Conrad F. Sammet Jr., and Linda Bryan; step-children, Judy and Mike; brother-in-law, James Slane; many nieces and nephews and friends.

        Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 255 E. State St., where funeral service will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jay Schlenker officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.

 

 Schafer, Stanley “Sonny” Schafer

     Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, Ohio, April 26, 2010

     Stanley "Sonny" Schafer, 61, of Alledonia, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his home.  

     He was born April 23, 1949 near Alledonia, a son of the late Herman and Inez Wheeler Schafer.  

     Sonny was a member of the Church of Christ, a retired employee of Ohio Valley Coal #6 Mine near Beallsville, a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and a member of American Legion Post #768.  

     Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Shirley Yost Schafer; two sons, Frank Schafer of Bellaire and Trenton (Rachel) Schafer of Beallsville; a daughter, Crystal Schafer of Alledonia; four grandchildren, Tyler and Garrett Schafer and Elaina and Klay St. John.  

     In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sarah.

     Friends and family may call Tuesday, April 27 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28 at 11 AM with Kim McFarland officiating.

     Interment follows in Belmont Ridge Cemetery near Beallsville with full military honors.

 

Schillinger, Thelma L. Schillinger, nee Millsap

        MOLINE - Thelma L. Schillinger, 82, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Ill. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Rev. Russ Frye will officiate. Burial will be in the Colbert Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Thelma will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Memorials may be left to Alzheimer's Disease Research.

        Thelma was born on February 1, 1928, in a rural farm house near Powersville, Mo., the daughter of John Dow and Ora (Smith) Millsap. She was the second of two children. Thelma was a graduate of Powersville High School. She had a teacher's certificate from Kirksville College and taught one year at St. John's country school. In 1947 she began her career with John Deere and continued for 40 years, becoming executive secretary at the home office of John Deere in Moline. Thelma belonged to the Moline Gospel Temple and the Christ Church of the Quad-Cities for 36 years. She was blessed with the opportunity to travel twice to the Holy Land, Europe, and Africa. Her travel climaxed with a missionary trip to Russia distributing Bibles. She regularly visited prisons and ministered to inmates. Thelma sponsored a Bible study in her home for many years with a membership of 40 people. On August 8, 1976, she married John Schillinger, and became the stepmother of five children. Her Christian influence weighed heavily on the children and their mother as with all who knew her.

        She is survived by her husband, John D. Schillinger; five stepchildren, Randy D. (Vicki) Schillinger, Mark D. Schillinger, Renae L. Griffith, Shawn D. (Melissa) Schillinger, and Shane A. (Jenny) Schillinger; one niece, Beverly J. (Dale) Fleming; three nephews, Tom E. (Loretta) Phillips, William D. Phillips, and Dan L. (Lois) Phillips; nine grandchildren; mother-in-law, Grace V. Schillinger Case; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Margo) Schillinger, Rich (Diane) Schillinger, Carol (Bob) Reese, Sharon (Lawrence) Pirkl, and Sunny (Jim) Moorhusen.

        She was preceded in death by her parents, John Dow Millsap and Ora Smith Millsap, and her sister, Lucille Phillips

Schneider, Thelma V. Schneider, nee Schneider

        Thelma V. Schneider, age 89, of Merrill, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Thelma was born March 21, 1920, in Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Katherine (Smith) Schneider. She married Quintin A. Schneider on August 23, 1941, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1994. Thelma was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer in the Town of Pine River. Thelma also enjoyed tree farming and traveling to Florida. For fifteen years, Thelma was a resident at Maplewood Nursing Home in Bloomer, during her son’s ministry in the area.

        Thelma is survived by one son, The Rev. Philip (Catherine) Schneider, of Wausau; two grandsons: Jeremy (Crystal Sanders) Schneider of Merrill, and Nicholas (Shannon Kuehmichel) Schneider of Oshkosh; three step-grandchildren: Nicholas (Jocelyn) Koehler of Bloomer, Christina (Ben) Secraw of New Auburn, and Tyler Koehler of Bloomer; four step-great-grandchildren: Brandon, Justin, Andrew and Tyson; and one brother, Cedric (Ruth) Schneider of Merrill.

Thelma was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Culver and Perthena Culver; and one brother, George Schneider.

        The funeral service was at 11 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Hawker officiated. Burial took place at Merrill Memorial Park. The family received friends beginning at 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

Schreiber, Richard Lee Schreiber

     Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, Ohio, June 14, 2010 

     Richard Lee Schreiber, 58, Beallsville, OH, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home. He was born in Chicago, IL, October 24, 1951 son of the late Robert and Betty Petersen Schreiber.

     He worked as a heavy equipment loader for Titan America, served in the Navy and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

     He is survived by his wife - Theresa Carter; 2 stepsons - Julius Carter of Barnesville and Kenneth Carter of Beallsville; 2 brothers - Donald Schreiber of Michigan and Craig Schreiber of Florida and 1 step grandson - Chase Carter.

Scott, James D. “Jimmy” Scott

     James D. “Jimmy” Scott, 68, of 29682 S.R. 78, Lewisville, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on August 9, 1941 a son of the late Harmon G. and Thelma Kuhn Scott.

     Jimmy was a retired coal miner for the Ohio Valley Coal Company #6 Mine, Alledonia, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Lewisville, Ohio. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan and most of all loved his grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Scott and Mike Scott; one sister: Bonnie Scott.

     Surviving are his wife, Mary Vensil Scott whom he married on November 11, 1971; two sons: Duane Scott and his fiancé Stacey Pletcher of Woodsfield, Ohio and Samuel (Brandie) Scott of Nashport, Ohio; three daughters: Sara (Mike) Yonak of Woodsfield, Ohio, Pam (Jon) Knowlton of Woodsfield, Ohio and Ruth (Terry) Valkovic of Lewisville, Ohio; four brothers: Franklin Scott of Westerville, Ohio, Richard Scott of Columbus, Ohio, Gene (Imelda) Scott of Lewisville, Ohio and Philip Scott of Lewisville, Ohio; four sisters: Charlene Lenser of Rocky River, Ohio, Janet Johnson of Croton, Ohio, Debbie Scott of Johnstown, Ohio and Nancy (Bob) Williams of Ostrander, Ohio; 14 grandchildren with another to be born in March; several nieces and nephews.

     Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010.

     Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery near Lewisville, Ohio with military services.

     Helen Selmon, age 95, of New Matamoras, Ohio went to be with the lord January 27, 2010 at Selby Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. Helen resided in the Monroe County Care Center since October 2009. She was born in Washington County Ohio September 27, 1914 a daughter of the late George & Grace Lovett Barker.

     Preceded in death by her husband: Jess V. Selmon – November 1968, 1 son: Robert Selmon – November 2009, 1 sister: Ruth Steele, and 2 granddaughters.

Shackleford, Sylvia Pauline Shackleford, nee Lattea

Sylvia Pauline Shackleford

        Age 82, of 624 Lynn Avenue, Weston, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness.

        She was born June 16, 1928* in Baldwin, Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Archie H. Lattea and Ocie Starcher Lattea.

        In April* of 1947 she married William P. Lunsford, who preceded her in death in December of 1984; she then married Lee Shackleford in February of 1986, who preceded her in death in October 2004.

        In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two infant sons; one grandson, Robbie Lee Lunsford; and four brothers, Paul, John, Joe and Leon Lattea.

        She is survived by seven children, Charles Ray Lunsford and wife Carolyn of Weston, Michael Lunsford and wife Barbara of Camden, Donnie Joe Lunsford and wife Nikia of Troy, David John Lunsford and wife Sheila of Weston, Stephen Lunsford and wife Sonya of Weston, Beverly Ann Lunsford of Hinton, William Lunsford and wife Cameron of Weston; two step-sons, Bernard Shackleford and wife Teresa of Hundred, and Thomas Shackleford and wife Debbie of Weston; two brothers, Archie Eugene Lattea and wife Nellie of Weston and Robert Lattea and wife Judith of Weston; one sister, Mary Lunsford of Salem; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

        Mrs. Shackleford was a homemaker and Methodist by faith.

        Friends were received Friday, July 23, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Friday, July 23, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment followed in the Rock Grove Cemetery, Linn.

*Submitter's Note:  The marriage record posted on the West Virginia Culture web site gives her birthday as 25 Jan 1926, Alum Bridge, and the marriage date as 28 Mar 1947.   Perhaps "1926" was given on the marriage record to make her age 21?

        Billie D. (Bill) Shannon, Weatherford, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 after an extended illness. His remains will be cremated and placed in a niche along side of his wife’s ashes in Annetta Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel will make all arrangements.

        Life is a brief journey here on earth down a path of a combination of our choice, God’s guidance and by chance and should be lived to the fullest since it only occurs once.  Bill’s belief was that life is all about attitude and that a positive attitude, belief and trust in our Lord, Meeting adversity head on, accepting what we can not change and changing that which we can, would lead to positive outcomes.

        Some of the many positives in Bill’s life were two fantastic parents, a loving wife, a wonderful family and two a superb and enjoyable careers (USAF 2 August 1963 – 1 November 1983; General Dynamics/Lockheed/Lockheed Martin 30 November 1983 – 1 May 2004).  Bill was a Vietnam veteran serving at two major Air Command Headquarters during his career with overseas assignments. In Thailand, Vietnam and Germany; he specialized in helping define F-16 Support Equipment requirements for Foreign Military Sales countries for his final years with Lockheed Martin, 1991 – 2005.

        Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years in 2002 and his mother and father, Blanche and Earl Shannon.

        Survivors include, sons, Raymond and Reynold, daughter, Rhonda,* grandchildren and other family.

Shipp, Harold G. Shipp

     Harold G. Shipp, 70, of 108 Olin Drive, Woodsfield, Ohio died Monday, December 6, 2010 at his home. He was born in Morgantown, W.Va. on August 18, 1940 a son on the late Harold Shipp and Georgia Smith Plummer.

     Harold was a retired supervisor at the Ormet Corp., Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the Presbyterian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran, where he served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division; a member of the V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Woodsfield, Ohio; Loyal Order of Moose, Woodsfield, Ohio; and the American Legion.

     Surviving is his wife, Marcia Cline Shipp whom he married on September 4, 1969; three sons: Darryl (Melanie) Shipp of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Edward (Sherry) Shipp of Woodsfield, Ohio, Michael (Beverly) Shipp of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; one step-daughter, Tammy Clark of Quaker City, Ohio; one step-son, Troy (Susan) Pfeffer of Morrow, Ohio; two sisters: Patricia (Howard) Lewis of Woodsfield, Ohio and Jodie (Butch)Wedderien of Stewartstown, PA; one brother, Richard (Jackie) Shipp of Moundsville, W.Va; two grandchildren: Alicia and Jakob Shipp; three step-grandchildren: Melanie, Cole, and Blake.

     There will be no visitation. Private memorial and military services will be held at the convenience of the family at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio. Inurnment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

Shreves, Bert Raymond (Junior) Shreves

     Grisell Funeral Home, Sardis, Ohio, April 17, 2010

     Shreves, Bert Raymond (Junior), age 73 of Fly, Ohio passed away April 16, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family after a battle with lung cancer.
For seven months of his life he took part in a test study for lung cancer to help future patients.

     He was born in Sistersville, WVa, the son of the late Bert R., Sr. and Emma Bowers Shreves.

     Junior was a member of the Methodist Church and served in the US Army where he spent two years in Germany. He retired with 30 years of service from Ormet Corporation and a member of USWA Local #5724.

     He enjoyed working on his farm with the animals and was a huge fan of West Virginia football and basketball. He loved listening to country gospel music.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Bob and Jim; and a sister, Violia.

     Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley Wagner Shreves of Fly, Oh; two daughters, Debbie (Frank) Curtiss of Hannibal, Oh and Candy (Stacey) Fisher of St. Mary’s, WVa.; a son, Curtis Shreves of Fly; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Stacey, Joshua, Jamie, Brian, Julie and Jackie; eight great grandchildren, Brett, Hunter, Andrew, Parker, Jeffrey, Gunner, Lynn, and Blake; two brothers, Norman Shreves of Chester, WVa and Laymon Shreves of Hopewell, VA; a half sister, Loretta Gibson of Parkersburg, WVa; and several nieces and nephews.

     Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00pm with Rev. Frank Conley officiating.
     Interment will be held at Mehrley Cemetery, Fly, Ohio where the American Legion Post # 760 will conduct military graveside services.

 

Shugars, Charlotte Virginia Shugars

        Charlotte Virginia Shugars, 51, of Shinnston, WV passed away at her residence on March 22, 2010. She was born October 12, 1958 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of Boyd and Lucille Lattea. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Lattea and her husband Vernon Shugars.

        Surviving are one son, Freddie Lee Shugars of Clarksburg, WV; one daughter, Kristie Borgeiinck and her husband Andrew of Clarksburg, WV; three grandchildren, Dustin, Zachery and Megan Borgheiinck of Clarksburg, WV.

        Charlotte loved joy riding with her husband, meeting new people and chatting on the web. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service, Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike Street, Shinnston.

        HAWESVILLE - Dorothy E. Simpson, 81, of Lewisport passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born in Hancock County on April 11, 1929, to the late Maxwell and Thelma Rhodes Couty.She was a member of Central Baptist Church and retired as a custodian from the Hancock County school system. Dorothy enjoyed going out to eat, soap operas, westerns, holidays with family, yard sales, canning and playing the piano.She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Thomas Simpson; a son, Jimmy Simpson; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Bolin and JohnMichael Walker Lindsey; and two brothers, Cletus Couty and Maxwell Couty Jr.

        Survivors include her 10 children, Terry (Janice) Simpson of Hartford, Donna Simpson of Lewisport, Charlotte Bolin of Cloverport, Violet (Mike) Little of Hawesville, Patricia (Michael) Staples of Lewisport, Stacy (Mitchell) Adkins of Cave City, Theresa (Vondal) Henry of Flagherty, Judy (Donnie) Snyder of Hawesville, Randy (Sonda) Simpson of Hawesville and Richard Simpson of Tell City; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Kathy Brown of Charlotte, N.C., Connie Forrest of Louisville and Starr Rocky of Louisville; her brother, Bobby Couty of Hawesville; and many nieces and nephews.

Sivard, Garnet Sivard nee Gardner

     Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio, November 4, 2010

     Garnet Sivard, 87, of 36409 Cline Lane, Graysville, Ohio went home to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield, Ohio.

     She was born near Rinard Mills, Ohio on October 14, 1923 a daughter of the late Mervin and Hattie Holland Gardner.

     She was a homemaker and a member of the Graysville United Methodist Church, Graysville, Ohio where she was a member of the Ladies Aide Society. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Graysville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Extension Homemakers Club.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Wick, Willard, Hillard, Glenn, and Gail Gardner; two sisters: Opal Moore and Beryl Messenheimer.

     Clarence J. “Smitty” Smith, 87, of 33196 Main St., Lewisville, Ohio died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.

     He was born at Lewisville, Ohio on December 31, 1922, a son of the late Henry and Belle Winland Smith.

     He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and operator; a member of the Salem Hall United Methodist Church, New Matamoras, Ohio; a former member and fire chief of the Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department; founding member of the Mountaineer C.B. Radio Club; a former Lewisville Village Council member and a 50 year member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, Akron, Ohio.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Roberts Smith on January 4, 1998; one brother, George “Pete” Smith and an infant sister, Wilameena Smith.

     Surviving are four daughters: Theresa (Dennis) Yost of Savannah, Georgia, Marjorie (Mike) Yoss of Woodsfield, Ohio, Susan (Mike) Jones of Beallsville, Ohio, Joyce (Tom) Polatty of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one son: Jim (Rita) Smith of Columbus, Ohio; one sister: Grace Christman of Bucyrus, Ohio; his companion, Jessie Haught of New Matamoras, Ohio; five grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

     He was retired from Ormet Corp. Hannibal, Ohio in the maintenance dept. and was employed in the maintenance dept. at the Cabala’s Distribution Center.

     Delbert was also an U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.

     Preceded in death by 1 sister: Andrea Smithberger.

        George Donald Smolarek, 42, of Fripp Island, S.C., died Monday, October 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Gerald Lynn and Gerry Harris Smolarek. He attended Macomb Community College in Michigan and Technical College of the Lowcountry. His 27 year career as a senior computer aided draftsman for Civil Engineering and Architectural renderings includes associations with various firms in Detroit and Anderson Engineering in Beaufort, S.C.

        Known as Geo Smo, by his friends and Georgie by his family. He loved the low country, high-tech computers, trucks, Harley Davidson motorcycles, snowmobiles and classic cars. Most of all, he loved his friends and family in both the low country and Michigan. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

        Surviving in addition to his parents of Fripp Island are his grandmother, Stephanie Smolarek of Fripp Island, S.C.; brother, Lawrence Smolarek, uncle and aunt Karl and Diane Koellman; uncle, Larry Harris and aunt, Judy Mercurio.

        A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, October 21, 1010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Fripp Island Community Center. Copeland Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

     She was born in Lewisville, Ohio on March 24, 1915 a daughter of the late William F. Weber and Sara Ann Pickens Weber Thornberry.

     She was a 1934 graduate of Lewisville High School, Lewisville, Ohio, a homemaker, and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ near Lewisville, Ohio.

     She enjoyed doing crafts, making gifts for other people and flower gardening.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Spence in February of 1999; a brother, Robert F. Weber; a sister, Virginia L. Pennell; and a brother-in-law, Cyril E. Pennell.

     Surviving are two nieces, Lois Pennell of Clarington, Ohio and Rheba (Joseph) Dupras of Fairbanks, Alaska.

     There will be no visitation.

        Kenneth "Kenny" Sprong, 78, Morgantown, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his residence.

        He was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Shelbyville, the son of Addison and Hazel (Murphy) Sprong.

        He married Yvonne Helms on Aug. 2, 2009. She survives.

        He was a factory worker for Ford Motor Co. of Indianapolis for 25 years. He had also worked as a deputy sheriff for Shelby County for three years.

        Kenny graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1950. Korean War veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, as a corporal.

        He was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbus.

        Kenny loved woodworking and making furniture, and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts on TV. He was very proud of his Marine service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson Devon.

        Survivors also include a daughter, Teresa Heffner of Shelbyville; three stepsons, Mark Alldredge of Nashville, Chris (Jamie) Alldredge of Columbus and Tim (Nannie) Alldredge of Fort Hood, Texas; two stepdaughters, Margo (Bryan) Hash and Tammy Tillman, both of Nashville; 13 grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Sprong; several brothers; and one sister.

        The funeral was conducted Friday, July 2, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home. Visitation was Thursday, July 1 at the funeral home. A graveside military service was conducted by local veterans in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

        Memorials can be made to Community Hospital Hospice in care of the funeral home.

        Joseph D. St. Dennis passed away at his home in Havre of natural causes after a long and valiant fight with an illness on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010.

        Joseph was born in Kalispell, Mont., on July 9, 1962, where he lived for seven years before moving to Alaska and Washington. In Alaska, he met his future wife, Glenda Thelander. During his time in those places, he spent several years as a commercial fisherman and in the logging industry.

        He did return to Montana for a few years of his life, but in 1992 he found his way back to Montana where he lived since. Glenda and Joe were married in Montana. He spent some time as a ruff neck on the oil riggs in Montana. After the death of his wife in 2004, Joe found a new love with Dagmar Johnson, his long-time partner and love.

        Joe was a man who was easygoing and friendly with a kind heart and eager to help anyone out. He was a very wise man who enjoyed history, reading, fishing, camping, hunting, drums, music, friends, family and his dogs, Max and Butch.

        Joe was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Rose E. Keck and Florence St. Dennis; grandfathers, William Shupe and William Keck; wife. Glenda St. Dennis; and brother, Rusty St. Dennis.

        Joe is survived by his mother, Essie St. Dennis of Havre, Mont. ; father, Russell St. Dennis of Montana; sister, Jaime St. Dennis of Havre, Mont. ; nieces Jessica (Eric) Schweigert and Shannon St. Dennis, all of Havre, Mont. ; aunts, Toni (Scott) Sward of Bakersfield, Calif., Judy Hendricks, Yvonne St. Dennis, Roxanne Boyer and Mona Pruitt, all of Missoula, Mont., Gaye Taylor of Bellingham, Wash.; life partner, Dagmar Johnson and her daughters: Jenna and Sammy, all of Havre, Mont. ; half-brother, Donny Stokes of Reno, Nev., and Marvin Smith of Montana; uncles, Scooter Brown and Wayne Brown, both of Washington; Ronnie Smith and Dennis Smith, both of Montana, Norene and Connie both of Montana; one great-niece and several great-nephews and cousins.

Juanita was a farm wife who enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and raising calves. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Sardis.
     Juanita was the best mother six farm kids could have hoped for. She supported all of their endeavors and whims, and taught them much.
     She was preceded in death by her parents: Margaret and Lewis Young; one brother: Donald Young and her great-granddaughter: Isabella Stalder.
     Survivors include her husband, of 61 years, Glen Stalder; three sons: Glen (Brenda) Stalder, Jr. of Beallsville, Nelson (Flora Jean) Stalder of Woodsfield and David (Sherrie) Stalder of Sardis; three daughters: Connie (Joe) Frye of Hannibal, OH, Cindy (Dave) Jamison of Kansas City, MO and Sandy (Bruce) Frey of Phillipsburg, NJ; one brother: Robert (Eleanor) Young of Graysville, OH; one sister: Sue (Mark) Martinka of Pickerington, OH; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

        Mary M. Starcher, 77, of 211 Issacs Fork Road, Camden, passed away on June 12, 2010 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on January 6, 1933 in Freemansburg: daughter of the late Patrick Rowan and Ann (Grogg) Rowan. On December 9, 1972 she married Rupert Starcher who survives.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons Larry Starcher and wife Sandra of Walkersville and Terry Starcher and wife Shawnee of Alum Bridge. In addition to her children she is survived by three grandchildren Jason Starcher, Mark Starcher, and Becky Cline. Also surviving are three brothers James Rowan and wife Maggie of Sassafras, John Rowan and wife Betty of Freemansburg, and Joe Rowan and wife Ann of Churchville, and two sisters Pearl Lattea of Alum Bridge and Betty Heath and husband Joe of Orlando. Mrs. Starcher was preceded in death by one brother Wayne Rowan.

        Mrs. Starcher was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church. She was a glassworker for the WV Glass Specialty Company of Weston. Mary enjoyed working outside in the garden or yard, and she enjoyed to cook for family and friends.

     She was a homemaker who loved to quilt and garden. She was a member of the former Seneca Valley Church of Christ.

     Helen was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Starr, on December 22, 1989 ; five brothers, Gilbert, Howard, Herbert, Lee, and infant brother Lester; two sisters Esta Burkhart and Mary Hayes, plus many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

     Surviving are one son Kenneth (Kathryn) Starr, of Pataskala; one daughter, Darla Starr of Gahanna; one sister Cleo Carpenter, and one sister-in-law Margaret Christman; five grandchildren, Deborah (Steve) Green, Karen McCall, Diana Farley, Beth Martino (friend Robert Poe), Troy Starr; six great-grandchildren Ryan and Alex Green, Ashley McCall, Jennifer Farley, Jarrod and Jonathan (Amanda) Martino; one great-great grandchild Zackary Martino plus several nieces and nephews.

     NEW MATAMORAS - William Howard Steinhoff, 82, of New Matamoras, Ohio, died Wednesday (April 14, 2010) at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.

     He was born on Aug. 17, 1927, at New Matamoras, Ohio, the son of Christian and Eunice Tice Steinhoff.

     He was a carpenter and employed by Hammett Builders before his retirement. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No. 263 and had been a township trustee of Ludlow Township.

     He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Kathleen Morris. Also surviving are one daughter, Dianna Springer (Adam) of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, William Springer (Miranda), Samatha McMillion (Robert), Megan and Halee Springer; one great-grandson, Collin Kidd; and one sister, Mary Almeda Morris.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harry Steinhoff; and one sister, Wretha Jones.

     Mildred E. "Millie" Stephen, 69, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Beallsville, died Monday, March 15, 2010 in "Liza's Place" Valley Hospice Care Center, Wheeling.  She was born August 5, 1940 in Massillon, Ohio a daughter of the late Stanley and Hattie Taylor Phillips. 

     She was a member of the Beallsville Church of Christ. 

     Millie had been employed by the former LGAM and Jonathan Logan Sewing Factories and she was also a baby sitter for many years.  She enjoyed watching birds but the most important thing in Millie’s life was her love for her family and friends. 

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Allen Stephen. 

     She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bobby Allen Stephen; five children, Cindy Lynn of Barnesville, Robert (Aleta) Stephen of Uniontown, PA, Brenda Keevert of Uniontown, PA, Sherry (Ralph) West of Baltimore, Ohio, and Rusty (Diana) Stephen of Beallsville; a sister, Bonnie (Dick) Giehl of North Carolina and a brother, Lee (Becky) Phillips of Beallsville; ten grandchildren, Chris and Tim Lynn, Zackery and Ryan Stephen, Westen and Amanda Keevert, David and Jessica West, Ashley and Brett Stephen; seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Gracie, Hailey, Isaiah, Logan, Tearyn, and Mya; a host of nieces and nephews; also her extended family, the Burkes. 

     Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 18 from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Friday, March 19 at 1 PM with Johnny Burke officiating.

     Interment will follow in Somerton Southern Cemetery.

     Stewart, Dale Leroy, Sr., age 75, of Sardis, OH, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home.He was born March 5, 1935 in Sardis, the son of the late Harry E. and Mary L. Stewart.

     Dale was a retired crane operator from Ormet Corporation and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, New Martinsville, WV.

     In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Louise Stewart; a sister, Betty Kannard; two brothers, Sterling and Leonard Stewart; and a granddaughter, Angela Renee Stewart.

     Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Stewart of Sardis and Candy (Willie) Maynard of Toronto, OH; three sons, Dale (Barbara) Stewart Jr. of Shadyside, Rick (Patricia Lyons) Stewart, and Larry (Susie) Stewart all of Sardis; one brother, Richard Stewart of Sardis; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

     Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound Street, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am with Pastor Bruce Taylor officiating.

     Helen E. Stewart, 89, of Carrollton passed away peacefully in her sleep Nov. 26, 2010, at Carroll Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 24, 1921, in Belmont County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Lucy (Bumgardner) Lendon.

     She spent most of her life in Carroll County.  She worked 42 years at the former Scio Pottery and then five years as a foster grandparent at St. John's Villa in Carrollton.  She was a member of Carrollton Baptist Temple and Carrollton Eagles.

     She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia (Jerry) Crum of Carrollton; a granddaughter, Ashley Crum; a grandson, Jason Crum; a great granddaughter, Haley Crum; three brothers, James (Barb) Lendon of Canfield, Wilbur Lendon of Dresden and George (Candy) Lendon of Bethesda; three sisters, Martha Lendon of Bethesda, Jessie Smyth of Corpus Christie, TX, and Dorothy (Stanley) Zupan of Middleburg Heights; three sisters-in-law, Jennie (Stewart) Knight, Eva Lendon and Barb (Stevens) Stewart; and two brothers-in-law, Otho (Phyllis) Miller and Jesse Stewart.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Stewart, whom she married Jan. 29, 1942, and who passed away Dec. 10, 1994; four sisters, Marie and Gertrude Lendon, Lela Rossie and Della (Otha) Miller; two brothers, Earl and Leslie Lendon and her stepmother, Elizabeth Lendon.

     At her request,cremation has taken place and a memorial service will at a future date.

        ASHTABULA -- Charles Stickle, age 60, a resident of Ashtabula, died Saturday morning, April 24, 2010, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

        Born Sept. 1, 1949, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Charles and Carmel (Guerini) Stickle. Chuck graduated from St. John High School, class of 1967. On June 17, 1972, he married the former Christine Dragon, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

        Mr. Stickle was a retired police officer with the Ashtabula Police Dept. and was currently employed as a bailiff with the Ashtabula County Juvenile Court.

        Charles was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he was a volunteer for the church Bingo. He was also a member of the Elks, Moose , F.O.P. and Knights of Columbus Council 360.

        His hobbies included going to the produce auction and antique auctions, watching the news, sports and Jeopardy on television

        Survivors include his wife, Christine Stickle of Ashtabula; daughter, Carrie Lynn Stickle of Ashtabula; sons, Corey Stickle of Ashtabula and Chad Stickle of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a granddaughter, Mollie Anderson of Ashtabula.

        He was preceded in death by his parents.

        Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 28th, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

        Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., TODAY, April 27th, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

        Jerry Lee Stiles, 52, husband of Janet Hatfield Stiles, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

        Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was a son of Carole White Stiles and the late Homer Stiles. Mr. Stiles was employed by Eaton Electric. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.

        Survivors include his wife of Sumter; mother of North Kingsville, Ohio; two sons, Jerry Stiles (Jessica) and Jeremy Stiles, both of Sumter; a sister, Sandra Nichols of Newington, Ga.; and two brothers, Ed Stiles of Geneva, Ohio, and Dennis Stiles (Lisa) of North Kingsville.

        Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Atkinson officiating.

     He was born near Sarahsville, Ohio on December 14, 1929 a son of the late Ray and Sadie Baker Stottsberry.

     He was a retired employee of Dana Corp., Caldwell, Ohio with forty-two years of service; a former school bus driver for the Noble Local School District with twenty-one years of service; a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of the American Legion post 415, Summerfield, Ohio; a member of the N.F.O. and the N.R.A.

     He enjoyed farming, his John Deere tractors, and especially his family, grandkids and friends.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Stottsberry and one great granddaughter, Hannah Rose Mitchell.

     Surviving are his wife, Pearl Warner Stottsberry whom he married on August 12, 1949, three daughters: Crystal (Gene) Duckworth of Mineral Wells, West Virginia, Jenny (Forrest) Thomas of Sarahsville, Ohio, Kelly Christmas of Summerfield, Ohio; one son: Scott (Faye) Stottsberry of Sarahsville, Ohio; six brothers: Wayne Stottsberry of Byesville, Ohio, John Stottsberry of Caldwell, Ohio, Arthur Stottsberry of Caldwell, Ohio, Charles Stottsberry of Caldwell, Ohio, Larry Stottsberry of Warsaw, Ohio, Mike Stottsberry of Cambridge, Ohio; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two aunts and one uncle, and several nieces and nephews.

     He was born in Caldwell, Ohio on June 28, 1949, a son of Mary Poulton Strode who survives of Caldwell, Ohio and the late Delmer Strode.

     He was a retired long distance truck driver. He enjoyed collecting pig figurines and loved being surrounded by his family and friends and also his dog, Peeps.

     Surviving are four sons: Walter Gene (Jana) Strode, Todd David Strode, Mickey Lee (Angela) Strode, Daniel Allen Strode; all of Arkansas, eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

        Larry Wray Stucker, 71, longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. He was born in Shelby County, Ind., Dec. 9, 1938, to Cortez and Fern Stucker, and was a 28-year resident of Nevada. He attended Indiana University and then the School of Radiologic Technology W.S. Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Ind., where he received his diploma and ARRT. Larry worked for over 50 years as a radiological technologist. As a chief clinical instructor and chief technologist, he was able to act as a leader and mentor to many young students. Larry was a loving father, helped raise his grandchildren and recently became a great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed. There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Nancy Ann Stucker, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, after a long and painful struggle with Hepatitis C. Born in Erie, Pa., May 19, 1942, to Celo and Regina Boderocco, she studied radiologic technology at Hamot Hospital in Erie. Nancy worked as a radiological technologist for over 48 years in California and later in Nevada. She is survived by her loving husband, of 38 years, Larry Stucker; and their devoted daughter, Cynthia Jones, RN, of North Las Vegas.      She was born on September 5, 1924 in Barnesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert Clarence and Mary Helen Hunkler Lynn.

     She was a former matron at the Monroe County Jail for over thirty years where her husband served as Monroe County Sheriff. She was a Catholic by faith.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. “Tinker” Sulsberger on December 2, 2008; and one sister, Mary Regina Hunter.

     Surviving are two sons: Tom (Jane) Sulsberger of Cambridge, Ohio, and Richard “Dick” (Karen) Sulsberger of Woodsfield, Ohio; two daughters: Susan (Mike) Murray of Grove City, Ohio, and Margie Hannahs of Barnesville, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Justin and Megan Sulsberger, Abby (Bill) Roen, Ryan and Louie Sulsberger, and Mike (Grace) Strahl, and Louie Hannahs; and two great grandchildren: Donovan Roen and Philip Strahl.

        Bill passed away on April 21, 2010 in Edmonds, WA. He was born on November 14, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Bill went to work for the Allstate Insurance Company; finally retiring from there after 23 years.

        Bill enjoyed the time he spent at the Tulalip Casino. He was also a member of the Puget Sound Traditional Dixieland Jazz Society.

        Bill is survived by his daughter, Shari Swearingen (Jerome Evanson); son, William (Judi) Swearingen; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; his companion, Therese Berg; as well as his three half sisters and two half brothers.

        He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1997.

     She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on July 24, 1926 a daughter of the late Paul and Hilda Adams Horton.

     She was a former secretary and a former co-owner of Swick’s General Store in Carlisle, Ohio.

     She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church, Carlisle, Ohio where she sang in the choir for over fifty years. She was a member of the BPW in Zanesville, Ohio and was also instrumental in the organization of the Samaritan House, Caldwell, Ohio.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick Horton and Charles Horton.

     Surviving are her husband, Lewis F. Swick whom she married on January 4, 1951; one son, Greg (Elsie) Swick of Canal Fulton, Ohio; one daughter, Lorna (Jeff) Hannahs of Sarahsville, Ohio; two sisters: Dorothea Upshaw of Richmond, Virginia, Loretta Joe Adams of Willoughby, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

     There will be no visitation.

     A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Carlisle, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Thomas Hamm as the celebrate.

     He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 28, 1941 a son of the late Allison F., Sr. and Euella Yater Swoboda.

     He was a retired employee of Ormet Corporation Hannibal, Ohio and was also a retired truck driver. He had attended the Praise Pentecostal Church, Woodsfield, Ohio and formerly attended the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

     He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 0768, Beallsville, Ohio.

     He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Allison Swoboda, Jr. and Richard Swoboda; an infant sister, Louisa; and a grandson, Daniel L. Swoboda.

     Surviving are his wife Carol Gerdau Swoboda whom he married on June 4, 1961; one daughter: Angela Burkhart of Belle Valley, Ohio; three sons: Howard F. (Rachel) Swoboda of Johnson City, Tennessee, Merle (Nancy) Swoboda, Jr. of Somerton, Ohio, and Daniel Lee Swoboda and his fiancé Pam of Woodsfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three nieces.

        WOOSTER: Thor Daniel Tenley, 24, of Wooster, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Akron City Hospital.

        He was born August 14, 1986 in Orrville the son of Joe and Ronda Altvatar Tenley. He was a 2004 graduate of Hillsdale High School and had been a U.S. Marine. Thor worked for Davey Tree service and was a member of the Jerome Post 749 and Amvets 1969.

        He is survived by his mother, Ronda Huff of Wooster; two sisters, Jana Tenley and Shae Huff both of Smithville; a brother, Ridge Huff of the home; his maternal grandfather, Pete Altvatar of Wooster; and a nephew, Kaydyn Tenley.

        He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Tenley; and maternal grandmother, Janice Altvatar.

     Carles was a retired aluminum worker at the Conalco Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio and was a former employee of Pure Oil Company, Charleston, West Virginia. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #5760, Clarington, Ohio and was a Methodist by faith.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Erma A. Thomas on January 17, 2010; three brothers, John, Charles and James Thomas; one sister, Laura Durbin.

     Surviving are two daughters: Deloris Thomas of Woodsfield, Ohio and Joan (Shan) Michener of Woodsfield, Ohio; one son: J.R. (Tina) Thomas of Woodsfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

     Erma was a homemaker and was a Methodist by faith. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

        VERSAILLES, Ill. -- Everette Garland Thomas, 96, of Versailles, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 9, 2010) in the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling, Illinois.

        Born Aug. 5, 1913, in Gilbirdsport, a son of Garland and Hettie Davis Thomas, he married Emma Corrine Keylor on Dec. 20, 1932, in Mount Sterling; she died Jan. 28, 2009.

        Everette was a farmer, had attended Council School in Brown County and was a member of a non-denominational religion.

        He was preceded in death by his parents.

        Survivors include four children: Eugene Thomas of Perry, Illinois; Lyle Thomas of Meridianville, Alabama; Lozelle Thomas of Alabaster, Alabama; Irene Plunkett of Derby, Kansas.  Two sisters:  Loretta Hall of Mount Sterling, Illinois; Janie Hanks of Versailles, Illinois.  Eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive

     She was born near Jerusalem, Ohio on December 11, 1911 a daughter of the late George and Laura Shaw Riser.

     Mae was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. She enjoyed farming and was an avid quilter.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royden Thomas in 1969; two brothers, Everett and James Riser; two sisters, Dessie Cronin and Dorothy Hoff; a nephew, Paul Cronin and a brother-in-law, Roger Thomas.

     Surviving are seven nephews: Larry Riser and Gene Riser both of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Ronald Riser, George Riser and Randy Riser all of Jerusalem, Ohio, Donald Riser of Beallsville, Ohio and Harold Cronin of Pennsylvania; four nieces: Malinda Henthorn of Woodsfield, Ohio, Elsie Phillips of Illinois, Becky Hubbard of Youngstown, Ohio and Wanda Clark of Woodsfield, Ohio; 11 great nieces; 14 great nephews.

        TERRE  HAUTE - John Woodrow Torpy Jr., passed away April 30, 2010, in Union Hospital. He was born on July 8, 1945, in Terre Haute, to John and Helen Torpy. John served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a mechanic for US Air.

        He was a man of many talents and could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He loved fishing and his dog, Duchess.

        He is survived by his mother, Helen Torpy; sisters, Bernice Walker and Debbie McGill; brother, James Torpy; daughters and their spouses, Christi and Joshua Thorpe, Jeana Gron and Patrick Kolp, and Lisa and Paul Sammann; son and spouse, Justin Gron and Samantha O'connor; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John Woodrow Torpy Sr.; and a sister, Darlene Gore.

     He was a former coal miner and was presently a self-employed truck driver. He was a protestant by faith and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

     In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons: Tony Truax, Tracy (Missy) Truax, and Trevor Saffle, all of Woodsfield, Ohio; one sister, Jeannie (Doug) Yontz of Woodsfield, Ohio, eight grandchildren: Todd, Jesse, Tabby, Tamara, and Kelsey Truax, Vanessa, Hannah, Wyatt; and one niece, Carley Yontz.

        She was born Sept. 12, 1913, a daughter of the late Whitzell Ray and Daisy Dell (Copas) Taylor. She married Raymond Turner on Nov. 8, 1930, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1987.

        She was also preceded in death by her four children: Raymond Turner Jr, Janet Clark, Charles Turner and Terry Turner.

        Opal is survived by 14 grandchildren: Susie, Becky, Phillip, Donny, Diane, Brenda, Jean, David, Flora, Daphne, Maria, Loria, Lisa and Chad; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister Margaret Ann Boyd; and brother Robert (Betty) Taylor.

        In addition to her parents, husband and children she was preceded in death by two infant granddaughters, and 12 siblings. Opal was a homemaker who loved to sew, make quilts and hat pin cushions.

        Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 noon in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with the Rev. Philip Chilcote of the First Christian Church of Sidney presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

     Phoebe Jayne Block Turning, 84, of Beallsville died Monday, April 5, 2010 in the New Martinsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

     She was born February 16, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Marcel and Elizabeth Gregory Block. 

     A 40 year resident of New Haven, Connecticut, she moved to her home on Wilson Lake in 1990. While in New Haven Jayne had been an assistant buyer for 23 years at the Edward Mally Company. 

     She was dedicated animal lover, a supporter of the Monroe County Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of America. She enjoyed her garden and watching the many birds that made their homes around Wilson Lake. 

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Turning in 1990. 

     Surviving are two brothers, Kennett L. (Patricia) Block of New Martinsville and Duncan G. (Shirley) Block of Baxter, Tennessee; also several nieces and nephews. 

     A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, April 10 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Harper Funeral Home, Bealsville. 

     Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe County animal shelter.

        Aaron was drafted into the U. S. Army on July 8, 1957, where he served his country for two years. He retired from Michelin Tire on August 1, 1991, after 21 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family and friends. He spent 10 years swimming with the YMCA Aerobics program.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy Joe Underwood and Johnny Gene Underwood; and one sister, Wynell Stewart.

        Aaron is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home; daughters, Jackie Eubanks and husband, Ricky of Ardmore and Toni Patterson and husband, Mike of Oklahoma City; son, Danny Underwood of Ardmore; grandsons, Dirk Eubanks and wife, Katie, Justin Eubanks and wife, Jacey all of Ardmore, Michael Patterson and Jake Patterson of Oklahoma City, and Tanner Underwood of Ardmore; great-grandsons, River Eubanks, Parker Eubanks and Dalton Eubanks all of Ardmore; sisters, Gloria Underwood of Marietta, Tiny Belle Paul of Ardmore and Emma Lou Elkins of Houston, Texas; and one aunt, Rosa Freeman of Healdton.

     Millie was born December 12, 1914, in Shadyside, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert Ross and Mary Meek Weekley.

     After graduating from High School, she worked at the former Marx Toy Factory in Glen Dale, W.Va., before becoming a full time homemaker.

     She attended the Shadyside Church of the Nazarene.

     Preceding her in death was her husband John Vincent Jr. in 1983, two sisters, Edna D. Rodgers and Ruth Nevil.

     Surviving is her daughter Joyce Conley and her husband Gene of Jacobsburg, Ohio, two brothers, Edward (Mae) Weekley of Senecaville, Ohio, and Richard (Mary) Weekley of Bellaire, Ohio, two sisters, Dorothy Valkovic of Beallsville, Ohio, and Peggy (Bob) Massey of Alexandria, Ohio, several nieces and nephews.

     Family and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Dennis Hancock and Rev. Michael Adkins officiating.

        He was born on July 8, 1921 to the late Oral and Florence (Bradley) Voland in Brown County, Indiana. He was a retired Engineer with Cummins for 35 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran of WWII.

        His memberships include: Masonic Lodge #135 in Nashville, Scottish Rite (32nd Degree) Greenlawn Cemetery Board, Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, he was a Realtor, also a member of the Roaming Buffalo Camping Club.

        He is survived by one Daughter and Her Husband: Donna and Larry Borders of Nashville,one sister and husband: Mable and Richard Frye of Columbus, Indiana,four Grandchildren: Jennifer Bailey of Nashville, Todd Merideth of Hilton Head S.C., Lisa & Todd McNealy of Columbus, Indiana and Christy and Joe Schadenfroh of Nashville, Indiana.         Frederick H. Wackerhagen just said no to self-service gas pumps at his Fred's Friendly Service station, 2901 Leavenworth St.

        "It was always full service; it's still full service," daughter Sue Ann Goodman of Omaha said. "He always said he would never have self-service because his customers deserved to have the full service. They checked the oil, cleaned your windshield and checked the air pressure on your tires. There were mechanics on staff. He had lots of accounts with local businesses."

        Wackerhagen died of Alzheimer's disease Sunday at Josie Harper Hospice House. He was 77.

        Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann Dworak-Cutler Chapel, 7805 West Center Road.

        Wackerhagen was born in Bellevue and attended Omaha's Technical High School, where he played football.

        Wackerhagen started his business in 1961. When he retired in 1999, sons Robert and Ronald, who had worked there for many years, took over the service station.

        "He was called ‘Friendly Fred' because he was very personable," his daughter said.

        He was active in Downtown Omaha Inc., organized cleanup campaigns in downtown for about 10 years and once ran for City Council.

        Keep Omaha Beautiful recognized Wackerhagen in 1999 for organizing the annual cleanups in downtown Omaha with volunteers from Downtown Omaha Inc. and Central High School. He would make the cleanups pleasant, encourage families to involve their children and provide volunteers with refreshments and rides on Ollie the Trolley.

        Wackerhagen was an active member of the Tangier Shrine Temple in Omaha and was elected potentate of the 5,000-member organization in 1986.

     Wallace, Robert E. "Bob" 72, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at Trinity West, Steubenville, OH. He was born in Hollidays Cove, WV on Nov. 27, 1937, the son of the late John Wallace and Pauline Huggins Wallace.

     He was a member of Weirton Heights Baptist Church. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a Roller in the Hot Mill of Weirton Steel Company, and was a member of the 25-year club, Weirton Steel Corporation. He was a member of the Osiris Shriners, the Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, and Weirton Lodge No. 171 A.F. & A.M.

     Robert is survived by a daughter, Latricia Alboszta and husband Roy of Spring Hill, FL; son, Robert E. Wallace, II of Washington, PA; five grandchildren, Nathan, Nichole "Niki", Whitney, and Gabrriella Alboszta and Paige Wallace.

     The family will receive friends at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Reverend William Stout officiating.

        Terry Lee Warden, 61, of Marietta, passed away Friday (Aug. 20, 2010) at his residence after a long battle with cancer.

        He was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Marietta to Robert E. and Martha Eleanor Mallett Warden.

        He was a member of the Marietta High School Class of 1967, where he was a standout athlete, especially in basketball.  Terry enjoyed playing sports and spending time with friends and family.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 64, B.P.O. Elks 477, Masterton Lodge 429 F.&A.M. and Aladdin Shriners of Columbus.  Terry was employed in road construction for 21 years and last employed by West Virginia Paving.

        Terry is survived by his father, Robert E. Warden; three sons, Matthew Warden, Michael (Mandy) Warden and Marc (Katie) Warden; two grandsons, Andrew Ryan and Owen Gene Warden, all of Marietta; two brothers, Robert H. "Bob" (Anita) Warden of Florida and William E. "Bill" Warden of Belpre and their families; special friend and companion, Ann Mayer; and the mother of his children, Linda Neely Mullen.

        He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Mallett Warden, and a grandson, Ryan Mitchell Warden.

        At his request, there will be no service.  Hadley Funeral Home is handling arrangements for his cremation.

     She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne J. Warner; a son, Lyle Martin Warner; brothers, Derain, George, Woodrow, and Guy Postlewaite; and a sister, Alegra "Midge" Gallaher.

     Survivors include two sons, Dale Wayne Warner of Hilliard, Ohio, and Mark Alan Warner of Loganville, Ga.; two daughters, Darlene Brauchler of Jefferson Hills, Pa., and Debora Reed of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russian Federation; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Hines; one sister, Marsha Lynn Baker.      Genevieve M. Watson, 84, of Ashland, died Thursday evening, December 17, 2009 at Samaritan Regional Health System. She was born in Antioch, Ohio on February 3, 1925 to the late Lawrence and Bertha Carpenter Jackson. She has been a resident of the Ashland area since 1943. She was a former Baker at Archway Cookies and had even appeared as the cookie lady in one of the Archway commercials years ago. She was also a loving homemaker.
     She was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ and the Bears Ministry at the church, where they make stuffed bears to be given to the children at the emergency room of Samaritan Hospital. She was also an avid quilter.
     She was married to Leroy (Pete) Watson on July 21, 1944 who preceded her in death on August 17, 1995. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Darrell) Arnold of Polk; 5 sons, Anthony (Shirley) Watson of Ashland; Alfred Watson of Mansfield; David Watson of GA; Clifford (Sandra) Watson of New London; Wayne Watson of Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Geneva Miller of Canton; Olive Straquadine of Columbus; Dorcas Campbell of Byesville; and 4 brothers, Richard Jackson of Ashland; Clarence Jackson of Greenwich; Lawrence Jackson of Cambridge and Walter Jackson of Newcomerstown, OH. .

        Katie Wattenbarger, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on October 3, 2010.  Katie was a longtime resident and farm wife in the Glade Community in the Horse Heaven Hills of Southern Washington.  She was a life time faithful member of the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church, having served as a choir member, financial secretary, and kitchen coordinator for many years.

        She was famous for her baking skills, especially butterhorns and cinnamon rolls.  She was an avid Mariners fan who loved to watch their games on TV.  She was a dedicated supporter of fund raising efforts for the American Cancer Society and the ALS Association.  One of her true virtures was being a loyal friend.

        Katie was born October 16, 1922 in Outlook to Frank and Mary (Van Patter) Kinkade.  On January 26, 1946 in Sunnyside, she married Francis J. Wattenbarger of Mabton.  To this union were born two sons, Larry and Kirk.  She tragically lost her son Kirk to ALS in 2004.

        Survivors include her husband Francis, son Larry (Dena) Wattenbarger of Bourbon, In., daughter-in-law Kay of Sunnyside, grandchildren Alissa (Wes) Pugh of Bourbon, In., Ryan Wattenbarger of Sunnyside, Emily (Thaine) Tribalski of Etna Green, In., Chad Wattenbarger of Sunnyside, great grandchildren, Kacie and Kyle Pugh of Bourbon, In., sisters Ellen Dahl of Sunnyside, Sylvia Dobrauc of Yakima, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her son Kirk, parents Frank and Mary Kinkade, stepmother Victoria Fields-Kinkade, brothers Alva Kinkade and Harry Kinkade, and sisters Mabel McDaniels, Nancy Hatch, and Elizabeth Ann Kinkade.

     Carl R. Wayt, age 94 of Laings, Ohio died Monday September 27, 2010 at Wheeling Hospital C.C.C. He was born April 11, 1916 in Jefferson County Ohio a son of the late Edward & Mary Barcus Wayt.

     He was a member of the Laings Presbyterian Church, member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America for over 50 years, and a life long member of the Democratic Party and served as a Monroe County Democratic Committeeman.

     He is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

     He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on October 28, 1948 a son of Sara Petty Weddle Cleveland who survives of Harrod, Ohio and the late Samuel Emerson Weddle.

     He was a self-employed timber cutter and farmer; a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War; a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Woodsfield, Ohio.

     He enjoyed hunting, archery, 4-wheeling and the outdoors.

     Surviving are his step-father, Floyd Cleveland of Lima, Ohio; three daughters: Jennifer Weddle of Woodsfield, Ohio, Jodi (Joseph) Arnold of Bedford, Virginia, Angela Weddle of Woodsfield, Ohio; one son, David E. Weddle of Bedford, Virginia; three sisters: Marilyn (James) Williams of Harrod, Ohio, Beverly (David) Contris of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Leesa Robb of Dearborn, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

     Ethel A. Weisend age 76 of Carlisle, formerly of Newark, OH passed away Friday January 15th, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. She was born February 19, 1933 in Noble County, Ohio a daughter of the late M.Z. and Grace Warner Kirkbride.

     Ethel had resided at the Summit Acres Nursing and Rehab for the last two years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Summerfield, OH and also attended the Church of Christ in Newark. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends as well as crocheting and listening to music.

     In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her First Husband Ed Feldner who passed away March 22, 1967, Second Husband Francis Weisend who passed away January 7, 1990 and Stepdaughter Darlene Kilburn.

     WELLS, Bonnie Ruth, 77, of Centerville, Ohio died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Shadyside Care Center.

     She was born January 18, 1933 in Jacobsburg, Ohio, daughter of Harry and Luanna Albertine Crum Tomlinson.

     Bonnie retired from the Family Market in Centerville and was a former employee of the Times Leader in Martins Ferry.

     She was a member of the Centerville Christian Church and the Smith Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Pollock and Erma Perkins; four brothers, Joe, Donald, Edison and Clinton Tomlinson.

     Surviving are her husband, Donald L. Wells; three children, Kitty Jo (Mike) Lloyd of Hannibal, Ohio, Susan Lynn (Rodney) Britton of Catlettsburg, Kentucky and Robert H. Wells of Centerville; a sister, Helen Planey of West Bellaire, Ohio; two grandchildren, Trevor and Wesley Lloyd; several nieces and nephews.

     Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m., where services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Harry Humes officiating.

     Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery, Armstrongs Mills.

     She was born November 6, 1947 in New Martinsville, a daughter of the late Phillip and Betty Potts Longwell.
     Rosie was a member of the Church of the Nazarene; and the Eagles Auxiliary in Paden City, WV.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Westbrook.

     WHITE, Karen E. Hinig, 70, of Bethesda, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Sunday July 25, 2010 at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy, courageous battle with illness. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and caring demeanor.

     Karen was born October 6, 1939 in Dover, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Dora Anderson Hinig.

     She was a homemaker and later worked with Cherry Tree Toys, and the Bethesda Market, a member of the Dover Lutheran Church.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her dear husband Alan White on May 2, 1996, a granddaughter Terra Decker, brother in laws Mac McCreery and Harry Wallace, a sister in law Rowena Bennett.

        She was born July 30, 1929, in McIntire, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Cecil A. and Iza Blanche White Cheuvront.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Powers in 1999; a grandson, Todd Callaway in 2004; four brothers and four sisters.

        Betty was a retired Home Health Aide and attended Bell Chapel United Methodist church.  She enjoyed her family, taking care of people, flea markets and bingo.

        Surviving are three sons, Gary (Carolyn) Powers of Steubenville, William (Julie) Powers of Mingo and Greg (Lin) Powers of Mingo; four daughters, Patricia (the late Robert) Goodrich of Mingo, Tammy Ewing of East Liverpool, Ohio, Melissa (Scott) Cosgrove of Mingo and Betty (Mike) Ledyard of Steubenville; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

     Arnold was a member of the First Christian Church, Beallsville and a retired construction worker and coal miner. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Wiles. 

     Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Georgia Reese Wiles; five children, Mark (Twila) Wiles of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, David (Barbara) Wiles of Beallsville, Ohio, Carol (Jay) Simon of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Samra Wiles of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michelle Meadows of St. Louis, Missouri; a sister, Dora J.         Mary B. McRady Williams, 74, of Midlothian, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 after a long illness.

        Mary was a devoted member and greeter of West End Assembly of God (WEAG), especially her "Back Five Small Group." She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived in Lewisburg and worked as a nurse for several years.

        She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, George E. McRady of Lewisburg, and her mother, Elizabeth L. Beasley.

        Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Carl E. Williams; her father, James L. Beasley; her brother, Lonnie F. Beasley of Charlottesville; son, Jimmy McRady and his wife, Ginger, and their son, Caleb McRady; daughter, Teresa M. Fletcher and her husband, Perry, and their daughters, Brooke Haddon, Meaghann Fletcher and Mary Lindsay Fletcher, all of Chesterfield; stepson, Carl E. Williams Jr. and his wife, Emma, and their children, Jimmy Serrac, Khristina Williams and Christopher Williams, and a great-grandson, Kal, of Kingsport, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Lisa William Bastek and her husband, Bob, and their children, Carley and Cassidy of Glen Allen; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family, including her beloved Maltese, Little Willie.

     Vietta M. Williams, 89, of the Arbors Nursing Home of Marrietta (sic*Marietta), Ohio (formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio) passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at the nursing home. She was born near Harriettsville, Ohio on October 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Clark and Bessie C. Morrison Love.

     She was a homemaker most of her life and in later years worked as a cook at the Marietta Convalescent Center and the Women’s Home, Marietta, Ohio, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Nelson Williams on October 1, 1987; two brothers, James and Maywood Love, and a sister, Myrtle Hardesty.

Wilson, Helen Theo Wilson, nee Maas

        Helen Theo (Maas) Wilson, 98, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Billings on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.

        A graveside service will be held in Harlem at the Harlem Cemetery , at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6. A memorial service will follow at the Harlem Senior Services Center.

        Helen Maas was born on Oct. 19, 1911, in Pretty Rock, N.D., to Henry and Julia (Fink) Maas. Helen was one of 17 children.

        When her family moved to Montana, Helen met Gerald Wilson in Harlem and they were wed in Blaine County on Dec. 7, 1935. Gerald built a family home in Harlem and they lived there for almost all of the next 61 years, interrupted only briefly by residence in Turner, Mont., and Tacoma, Wash.

        She is survived by her three children, Ronald of Dallas and Richard of Seattle, and daughter Ardys (Wilson) Murphy, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Oscar Maas, and three sisters, Vernette (Maas) Guinn, Frances (Maas) Land and Alice (Maas) Hawkes. Her husband, Gerald F. Wilson, preceded her in July of 2009, after 73 years of marriage.

        Helen had many talents, but the greatest was her sense of humor. She had a knack for bringing a smile to the face of anyone who crossed her path, regardless of circumstances, age or condition. Few were able to resist this challenge for long. Her friendships were beyond counting and her love of people was unlimited. Her home was filled with music, conversation, laughter, and always with love. She spent her life in service to others, whether family, friends or strangers in need. No task was too great or time-consuming, as long as it brought comfort, pleasure or hope to someone else. Age neither changed her attitude nor altered her boundless enthusiasm. Even to the end, she was still making friends and bringing joy to others. The world will be a poorer place without her.

     Joe E. Wilt, 83, of Ashland, died Thursday morning, January 21, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland. He was born in Hannibal, Ohio on November 25, 1926 to the late Guy and Mary Frances (Turley) Wilt.

     He has been a resident of Ashland since moving from Monroe County in 1963.

     As a young man, Joe worked on the Tug Boats that ran on the Ohio River. He later learned the plumbing trade and had worked as a plumber for Welsh Plumbing and Heating when he moved to Ashland. Later he and Harry Barr started American Air Plumbing and Heating in Ashland and he worked with the company for 5 years. He retired from Robinson Plumbing and Heating in Wooster, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He enjoyed Bowling, Hunting, playing Yatzee and spending time with his family.

     On September 14, 1947 he was married to Jean Mallett who preceded him in death on August 10, 2007.

     He is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Roger) Roberts of WI; Billie Jo (Robert) Haudenschild of Danville, OH; three sons, Michael Wilt and Patrick (Robin) Wilt both of Ashland; Rocky (Sue) Warren of WV; 14 grandchildren, Joe Ray Glover, Matthew Roberts, Bridget Wilt, Shane Haudenschild, Morgan Haudenschild, Jodi Pryor, Bobbie Pryor, Jeff Pryor, Melissa Wilt, Ashley Porter, Lindsey Wilt, Kris Thomas, Angel Eulett, Amy Mercer, Rachelle Bennett, Kris Warren; 27 great grandchildren a daughter-in-law, Sherry Wilt of Ashland, a son-in-law, Robert L. Pryor of Ashland and his special friends Harry and Midge Barr.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean Wilt, one daughter Susan Marie Pryor on January 12, 2010; one granddaughter Cassie Jo Roberts and one great granddaughter, Carlee Pryor; three sisters, Martha Matilda Henry, Pauline Rawe and Mary Ann Potts and one brother, Bud Wilt.

        She was born June 12, 1935 in Troy, WV, the daughter of the late Okey Glenn Lunsford and Beulah Pearl Lattea Lunsford.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Brady Wine on March 11,* 1986; and one brother-in-law, Dewey Wine.

       She is survived by one brother-in-law, Dixie Wine and wife Wilma of Jane Lew; one sister-in-law, Mabel Wine of Weston, WV; several nieces and nephews; and her friend and caregiver, Margaret Billanti and husband Richard of Jane Lew.

        Wilma retired as a cook from the West Virginia University 4-H camp in Jackson's Mill.

She was a member of Valley View Church Of The Nazarene, past team leader of the prayer request line and helped with dinners at the church. Wilma never drove and was so thankful for her church friends that always made sure she had a ride.

     She was the owner/operator of Nellie’s Diner in Stafford, Ohio, and had worked for 15 year for RJF International in Marietta. She loved cooking, shopping and travel, but her greatest joy was being a grandma.

     Jack E. Winland, 79, of the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio) died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the center. He was born in Lewisville, Ohio on October 30, 1930 a son of the late Bearl E. and Rosa Bell Feiber Winland.  

     Jack was a retired Postal Clerk and Real Estate agent in Akron, Ohio; a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Lewisville United Methodist Church, Lewisville, Ohio. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Jean McKelvey and Martha Kiser.

     Surviving are one sister: Darlene Carpenter of Lewisville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. 

     There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio. Arrangements by Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.

     Ruth E. Winland, 88, of Marietta, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday (April 6, 2010) at Heartland of Marietta.

     She was born Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1921, in Lewisville, Ohio, to the late Forrest H. and Opal McBride Miracle.

     She was a member of 6th and Washington Streets Church of Christ, and worked as a cosmetologist instructor at Ohio Valley Beauty College.

     Ruth is survived by her husband, Paul E. Winland of Marietta; daughter, Paulette Hall Sweet (Doug) of Lowell, Ohio; son, Douglas Winland (Jackie) of Circleville, Ohio; grandchildren, Jason Hall, Justin Winland, Nikki Rake (John) and Heather Schmidt (Jerry); and six great-grandchildren, Tanner Rake, Katlyn Rake, Taylor Rake, Andrew Schmidt, Noah Schmidt and Coleton Winland; one sister-in-law, Helen Miracle of Jeromesville, Ohio; and a sister, Norma Hughes (Robert) of Stafford, Ohio.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Arnold Miracle.Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (April 9, 2010) at 6th and Washington Streets Church of Christ with Roger A. Rush officiating.

     Burial to follow at Stafford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m today at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, and one hour prior to services at the church.

     WISE, William W. Bill, 79, of Belmont, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab, Barnesville, Ohio.

     He was born July 22, 1930 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Weston Wise and Dora McFadden Wise.

     Bill was a lifelong dairy farmer, a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, he served over 27 years on the Belmont County Fair Board, a member of the Belmont County Farm Bureau (Woolers and Pullers). Bill loved to call square dances, and he was the state plow champion winning several divisions in 1992. Bill could make something out of nothing creating very unique barnyard art.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Wise, great-grandchildren Angel and Mason Phillips, and a step grandson, Staff Sgt. Jessie Ault.

     Surviving are his wife, Eileen Hoff Wise, a daughter Debi (Ron) Ault, son, David (Ann) Wise, all of Belmont, Ohio; son, Daniel (Teri) Wise of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Dorothy Coe of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren, Crystal (Dave) Phillips, four stepgrandchildren, and six step great-grandchildren.

     Friends are invited to visitation Saturday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Kelly-Kemp- Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, OH where services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Theresea Bobot and Rev. James Hoff officiating. Burial in Belmont Cemetery.

Thicket   Court

        Richard Eugene Wood, 63, of Thicket Court, died at 10:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

        Richard was a Christian and was affiliated with the Hope House of Prayer.  He graduated from Hope High School, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the maintenance department at Cummins Engine Company in 2006 after 31 years of service.

        Richard was very proud that he helped raise three families.  He loved dancing and going to the casino and was an avid colts fan.

        Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with military rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.  Calling will be from1 p.m. until service time Friday.

        There will be no burial.  Cremation is planned.

        Memorial contributions may me [sic--be] made to Turning Point Domestic Violence Services or the American Cancer Society.

        Born in Bartholomew County Aug. 26, 1947, Mr. Wood was the son of Milo S. and Elsie Pope Wood.  He married Dianne Bennett Oct. 31, 2009.  She survives.

        Also surviving are sons Michael Castetter and Jeffrey Castetter, both of North Vernon, Christopher Castetter of Greenfield, Shannon Wood of Indianapolis, Matthew Winter of North Vernon, Richard Andrew Wood of Columbus and Travis Dickey of Columbus; daughters, Sonya Mae Fennimore of New York and Cathy Dickey of Columbus; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Roscoe Wood of Columbus; and a sister, Florence Boyd of Columbus.

        He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Loren F. Wood.

     Yoho, Betty Lee Burley, age 85 of State Route 7, Sardis, OH died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at home. She was born July 3, 1925 in Moundsville, WV the daughter of the late George and Trixie Rine Burley.

     She was retired from Conalco, Hannibal; a member of Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9930, American Legion Post #760 Auxiliary, Order of Ohio Eastern Star, Belpre, OH; and a Protestant by faith.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L.V. Yoho; and a grandson, Jeffery Potts.

     Survivors include two sons, Richard Yoho of Powhatan Point, OH, and Gary Yoho of Sardis; a daughter, Sharon Potts of Hannibal, OH; a step-brother, Robert R. Spear of Clarington; three step-sisters, Marjorie Riggenbach of Woodsfield, Dorothy Lloyd of Lenoir, NC, and Esther Hirschman of Belton, TX; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

     YOHO, David G., 77, of Paden City, W.Va. died Wednesday January 6, 2010 at his daughter's home surrounded by his family.

     David was born November 14, 1932 on Slider Run in Tyler County, W.Va. the son of the late Lloyd and Blanche Heslep Yoho.

     He was current Commander and former Sergeant of Arms for American Legion Post 86 in Paden City, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 2281 in Paden City, Tyler County Shrine club, B.O.P.E. Sistersville Elks No. 333, Wetzel Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M., lifetime member of Sistersville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6327, Shriners of North America, Order of Moose Lodge # 931, member of St. Mary's Golf Club, former EMT, served on the Honor Guard assisting with several military funerals, U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War, retired security guard for Ormet and member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

     In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette I. Hizer Yoho in 2002.

     Surviving are two sons, David Mark Yoho and his wife, Stephanie of Reno, Ohio and Daniel Grant Yoho and his wife, Beth of Middlebourne, W.Va.; two daughters, Stephanie Jean Thomas and her husband, Ray of New Martinsville, W.Va. and Veronica Jill McKelvey and her husband, Randy of Clarington, Ohio; brother, Lloyd B.      Alvaretta (Freddie) Young 82 of Barnesville, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born July 12, 1928 at Key, OH a daughter of the late William and Iva Groves Dawson.

     Freddie was a graduate of Bellaire High School, and worked with several sewing factories in the Barnesville and Woodsfield area, a member of the Barnesville First Christian Church.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Richard “Dick” Young, a brother Carl Dawson.

     Surviving are sisters Thelma Palmer of Senecaville, OH, and Evelyn (Jean) Davis of Shadyside, OH a brother William Dawson of Cortland, OH, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Bailey.

     He was a retired employee for the Ohio State Dept. of Liquor Control, Woodsfield, Ohio and former owner/operator of Robert E. Young Memorials, Woodsfield, Ohio and was a former employee of Dailey Monuments, Akron, Ohio. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed farming and the outdoors.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Ann Workman Young in 1979; one brother, Donald Young; and one sister, Juanita Stalder.

     Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Taylor Young whom he married on February 22, 1988; two sons: David (Loretta) Heath of Congress, Ohio, Michael Young of Woodsfield, Ohio; two daughters: Kim (Tony) Presti of Lowell, Ohio, Terri Young of Columbus, Ohio; one step-daughter, Trina Cecil of Columbus, Ohio; one step-son, Aaron (Kelly) Cecil of Middlebourne, West Virginia, one sister: Sue (Mark) Martinka of Columbus, Ohio, four grandsons, one great granddaughter, one step granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

William    Young,    77

        TROY – William T. "Bill" Young, 77, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at 12:25 a.m. at his home. He was born March 6, 1933, in Perry County to the late William Earl and Thelda (Kirk) Young. He is also preceded in death by sisters, Flo Ella and Margie Young.

        Bill was united in marriage July 2, 1955, to Regina Kleeman, who survives. He retired from Tell City Chair Company after 33 years and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and enjoyed going gambling.

        Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Regina "Jean" Young of Troy; his children, Mick Young and his wife. Rita, of Rocky Point, Sandy King and her husband, Mike, of Tell City, Roger Young and his wife, Joy, of Havana, Fla., and Debbie Froehlich and her husband, Donnie, of Tell City; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Young and his wife, Norma, of Chandler; grandchildren Michelle and Brett King, Nicki and Michael Young, Zach and Dylan Froehlich, Garrett and Kyle Young, Vanessa Ford and Travis and Lauren Fischer and his great-grandchildren, Brailyn, Landon and Cambron Froehlich and Reese and Brody Ford.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy. The Rev. Barnabas Gillespie OSB will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

        Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

        Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, Owensboro, Ky., and Visiting Nurse Association (Hospice) of Tell City.
