Harvey Keith Ackerman, 83, of Somerton,
Ohio passed away Sunday, Feb. 22 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center. Keith was born May 22, 1931 to the late Sam and Josephine (Hagan)
Ackerman.
He was a 1949 graduate of Somerton High
School. Keith is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and is a Free
Mason.
Keith worked as a farmer and coal miner.
He also owned and operated A&L Construction with his brothers in law using
his talents to build homes for many years throughout Belmont and Monroe
counties. He was a successful antique dealer as an entrepreneur of the
Barnesville Antique Mall. He enjoyed going to antique shows selling the
furniture that he loved refinishing. Keith was an avid collector of pioneer
tools and traveled the country attending auctions to acquire them. He was proud
of the little town of Somerton and did his best to preserve it including
driving to Las Vegas to return the historic Somerton school bell to its
rightful home and spearheading much of the planning and design for the Somerton
Park.
In addition to his parents Keith was
preceded in death by his eldest son Lloyd K. Ackerman and his brother Myron
Ackerman.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife
Evelyn (Lucas) Ackerman, whom he married June 2, 1951. Three sons, Tim
Ackerman, Danny (Brenda) Ackerman and Kendall Ackerman. Seven grandchildren
Dawn Ackerman (Myriam Chaumeil), Sam Ackerman, Jennifer Ackerman, Karen (Jeff)
Munn, Adam (Alyssa) Ackerman, Jeffery (Jessica) Ackerman and Samantha Ackerman.
Four great-grandchildren Katherine and Aaron Munn and Owen and Avery Ackerman.
A brother Ken (Sue) Ackerman; a sister Wilda (Frank) Rector and several nieces
and nephews.
Arrangements pending at
Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville,
Ohio. Burial will follow in Somerton
Cemetery.
Donations

Jerry “Jug” Armann, 50 of Hannibal, OH,
died Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born January 25,
1965 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Dale and Betty Ramsay Armann. He was
a diesel mechanic at HLC Trucking; a member of the First Church of God, Duffy,
OH, and the Masonic Lodge #597 F & AM of Clarington, OH. He had a love for
farming and mowing grass. He also loved spending time with his children and
granchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years,
Angel Smittle Armann, of Hannibal; two daughters: Ashley (Chad Baker) Armann,
of Malaga, OH and Tiffany (Matt) Abbott of Clarington, OH; one son: Jerrett
Armann of the home; one brother: Terry (Dianna) Armann of Beallsville, OH; five
sisters: Barbara Hornyak of Washington, PA, Willie (Ronnie) Winkler of
Clarington, Jackie (John) Hamilton of Shadyside, OH, Chris (Tim) Mellott of
Clarington, Tammy (Donnie) Shriver of Beallsville; four grandchildren: Brayden
and Brantley Baker, Colt and Kylee Abbott, as well as several nieces and
nephews.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday
from 2-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St. New
Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am with
Pastor Cathy Harman officiating. Masonic services will be held on Wednesday at
7:30 pm at funeral home. Burial will follow in Harter Cemetery, Hannibal.

Gaynell Auten, age 92, of Woodsfield,
passed away April 3, 2015 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born in Martins Ferry on January 21,
1923, a daughter of the late Melvin and Blanche Dieterich Deitch.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking for her
family and taking care of her flowers.
She truly loved and served God.
She attended the Woodsfield Church of Christ.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Auten,
Jr., three brothers Ralph Deitch, Donald Deitch, and Gene Deitch, and
son-in-law Lewis Matz.
Surviving are two daughters, Eva
(Michael) Kopnski of Duck, North Carolina, and Shirley Matz of Woodsfield; two
brothers, Duane (Carol) Deitch of Clarington, Ohio and Robert (Ronda) Deitch of Caldwell, Ohio; one sister Mary
(Paul) Eddy of Woodsfield, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and
one great-great grandchild.
Friends were received April 7, at the
Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, where Funeral Services were held April 8,
2015 with Paul Eddy officiating. Burial
followed at the Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Kenneth L. Ayers, age 68, of Whipple,
Ohio, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in
Columbus, after suffering an extensive stroke. He was born March 29, 1947, in
Harrietsville, son of the late E. Burdette and Evelyn May Snider Ayers. He was
a 1965 graduate of Stafford High School, and he was a veteran of United States
Army’s First Cav.,serving in Vietnam, and earning numerous awards, including
the Vietnam Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the National Defense Medal,
Sharp Shooter Badge (rifle), and the Purple Heart. He retired following 28
years of service with GTE, and he had 15 years of service for Salem Township.
He was a member of the Lowell American Legion Post # 750, and he was a life
member of the Marietta VFW Post # 5108. He was also a member of the Disabled
American Veterans in Marietta. He was an avid tractor puller, using his four
big John Deere tractors, as well as several small garden pulling tractors.
Kenny was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is
preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kendra Ann Ayers.
Surviving is his wife of 25 years,
Patricia Ann Moberg Ayers; three daughters, and grandchildren from a previous
marriage; one step-son, Brandon (Staci) Unklesbay of Cambridge; one
stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jamy) Thompson of Marietta; one brother, Allen (Diane)
Ayers; one sister, Kathy (Daryl) Wolfe; three ornery grandchildren that he
thought the world of Justin, Jalen and Jackson Thompson; and several nieces and
nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday, September 16,
2015, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell,
where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, September 17th at 11AMwith
Evangelist John Wells officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at
Salem Township Cemetery in Lower Salem.

Ethel L. Bach, 93 of Graysville,
Ohio, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 3:45pm on December 24, 2015 from
the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio.
Ethel was born March 28, 1922 at
Rinard Mills, Ohio. A daughter of the late Russell and Ada (McVey) Griffin. She
was a member of the Graysville United Methodist Church, Graysville, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter
Donna (Larry) Ullman of Graysville, Ohio;a son Ronald (Helen) Gardner of
Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a stepdaughter Cheryl (Howard) Handschumacher of
Belpre, Ohio; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister
Margaret Ring of Louisville, Ohio, and one brother Heber (Twila) Griffin of
Shreve, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her
first husband Willard Gardner who died in 1989, and her second husband Lloyd
Bach who died in 2001. An infant daughter Bonita Gardner who died in 1944. Five
sisters Olive Hill, Wilma Fruend, Hattie Gardner, Audrie Hall, Ruby Turner; and
two brothers Earl and Cecil Griffin.

Betty Lou Baker, age 75, of Caldwell,
Ohio, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at her home. She was born July 2, 1939, in
Barnesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Earl and Edna Morris Huntsman.
She was a homemaker and a beloved mother.
She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, working puzzles, and watching birds.
In addition to her parents, she is
preceded in death by her husband, Harold Chandes Baker, who died July 5, 2005;
and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children, Debbie K.
(Aaron) Lambert of Dexter City, Brenda L. Ogden of Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina, William H. (Christy) Baker of Caldwell, Thomas E. Baker of Caldwell.

Bonnie Jean Baker, 63, a resident of REM
Group Home, Wheeling, West Virginia and formerly of Beallsville, Ohio died
Monday, June 1, 2015 in Wheeling Medical Park Hospital. She was born December
11, 1951 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clem and Bessie Pittman
Baker.
Bonnie was a member of the former Bolon
Ridge Chapel near Beallsville.
Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Bonnie Baker of
Camden, Ohio and Bobby and Linda Baker of Beallsville, Ohio; two nephews and
three nieces.
Graveside services will be conducted
Wednesday, June 3 at 2 PM in the Beallsville Cemetery with Pastor Max Robinson
officiating.

David Allen Baker, 47, of Beallsville,
died May 25, 2015 near his home as the result of a tree trimming accident. He was born May 24, 1968 in Barnesville, a
son of Mary Ann Miller Baker Bolon and the late Lowell “Bud” Baker.
He was a member of St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church, a self-employed tree trimmer, a farmer, and a US Navy
Veteran.
Surviving in addition to his mother,
Mary, of Woodsfield, are his daughters, Ann Marie and Laura Claire Baker; his
special friend, Carrie Kinsey, and her children, Courtney and Chad; his sister,
Brenda (Lyle) Barker of Paden City; two nephews, Nathan and Justin; many aunts,
uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, May 29 at the
Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, where a Christian Wake was held that evening.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday,
May 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church near Miltonsburg with Father
David Gaydosik officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with full
military honors by American Legion Post 768.

Edith Mae Ball, 80, of Barnesville died
Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home.
Heaven has gained a loving, strong, devoted mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She was born in Summerfield, Ohio on May 28, 1934 to the
late Everett E. and Tressie (Alexander) Carpenter.
Edith was a Methodist by faith and
attended the Main Street United Methodist Church. She had worked for the Jonathan Logan Company.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Cory L. Ball; and
five brothers: Guy, Ellsworth, Donald, Sylvan and Dale Carpenter.
Edith
is survived by her three children: Donna (Rudolph) Keaton of Kimbolton, Patrick
S. Ball of Warwood, WV and Lorrie (Harlen) Temple of Barnesville; five
grandchildren: Haley (Scott) Larrick, Clayton (Alyssa) Temple, Kenzie Temple,
Kyle (Kaitlyn) Temple and Cody Temple; sister, Ora D. Carpenter of St.
Clairsville; five great-grandchildren: Zoey, Lily, Sawyer, Corey and Jackson
Temple; step-grandson, Kevin (Mandy) Keaton; step-great-grandson, Brenden

Hannah Belle Baranich, age 89, of
Clarington, died February 28, 2015 in Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center, Woodsfield. She was born April 24, 1925, in Powhatan Point, a daughter
of the late William Henry and Mary Alice Robb Armann.
She was a bookkeeper in a jewelry store,
graduated in 1943 from Powhatan High School, a member of Chapel Hill United
Methodist Church, Clarington. She loved music and played the piano and organ
over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, John Baranich; two sons, John Robert and
William Andrew Baranich; and a granddaughter, Marsha Thompson.
Survivors include a son, James (Carrie)
Baranich of Clarington, OH, two daughters, Judy (Steve) Thompson of Hannibal,
OH and Mary Alice Bishop of St. Clairsville, OH; a sister, Lena Elizabeth (Ray)

Flushing, OH passed peacefully on May 16, 2015.He was born January 31, 1926 in
Holloway, OH the third son of Harold and Alice Bethel Barker.
Richard enjoyed and excelled in all
sports. He liked music and played the trumpet. Richard retired from B & O
Railroad in 1985. He was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church, the
Cadiz Country Club and St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159.
Richard is survived by his wife of 66
years, N. Jane Ballog Barker of Flushing; a son, James “Mick” Barker of
Malvern, OH; a daughter, Lois (Ken) Schroeder of Rapid City, SD; a
granddaughter, Lisa (Dr. Brent) Reich of Billings, MT; a great-granddaughter,
Liv Reich (11) of Billings, MT; a brother, Gene “Boone” Margene Barker of
Galloway, OH; four sisters, June Curtis of Greensboro, NC, Karen Helter of
Lebanon, OH, Sandra Vina of Burbank, CA and Beverly Hager of Newark, OH;

housekeeper at North American Coal #4 Mine and was a Methodist by faith.

preceded in death by her husband, Steve Barnes; a son, Michael Barnes; a
brother, Russell Goudy and a sister, Judith Brindley. Survivors include a son,
Steve “Jamie” Jr. (Denise) Barnes of Clarington; a brother, Martin Eugene
(Clair Hanley) Goudy of Blue Hill, ME; seven grandchildren, Connor Goddard,

Leona Palmer Janoski Brunner. She was a retired Nurse from Country Club
Retirement Center, Bellaire, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her step-father, Emerson Brunner and a brother, Leonard
Brunner. Survivors include: her husband of fifty years, Roy Bauer; two sons:
Christopher (Brenda) Bauer of Powhatan Point and Thomas Bauer of Jacobsburg,
OH; a daughter, Michelle (Rodwell Bennett) Bauer of Wheeling, WV; four sisters:

David Nathanael Beasley, 56, of Reed passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at
St. Anthony Lucy King Care Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Emmett and
Bessie Sue (Tackett) Beasley late in their life. He was raised in and has lived
in the community of Reed. David was a 1977 graduate of Henderson County High
School. David married the love of his life, Ginny, on Oct. 1, 1977, and they
have been married 37 years. During the last eight years, she not only had the
role of a mom and housewife, but a nurse extraordinaire.
They
were known for joking about David's medical situation, which helped David get
through the bad days. David and Ginny have two sons, Nathanael, in Commonwealth
Baptist Bible College in Lexington, and Aaron is still at home.
David
grew up in a Christian home and received the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of
12. He was a member of Greater Vision Baptist Church in Owensboro. He grew up in
a farming family, but his passion was trucking. He owned a small trucking
company, D.N. Beasley Trucking, from 1977 through 1991. For the last 23 years,
he owned Toy Trucks and More, building scale-model semi trucks. His passion was
collecting 1?64-scale trucks since childhood and he turned his passion into a
business. David often commented that his life has been so blessed by doing what
he loved.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson
Chapel. Brother Ken Jones, Pastor Tim Russ, Brother Ed Hembree and Pastor Eddie
Calloway are officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10
a.m. Saturday. Pallbearers are Frank Westerfield, Robert Collier, Jimmy
Beasley, Gary Beasley, John Esche and Don Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are
Moses Johnson, Gerald Burks and Chris Burnett.

Emmett Sylvester
Beasley, 103, of Reed passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at
Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree. He was born Sept. 19, 1912,
in Henderson County, son of the late William Ambrose and Susie Ann (Morris)
Beasley. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Sue (Tackett)
Beasley; a son, David Beasley; two sisters, Cornelia Hollis and Emma Cravens;
and brothers J.L., James, Carl and Ambrose Beasley.
He was
a farmer, truck driver and had owned a store in Beals. Emmett graduated from
Spottsville High School where he played basketball. He also attended Western
Kentucky University. He had attended New Hope Baptist Church.
He is

Raymond
Frank Berendzen, 84, of Randolph Twp., passed away January 14, 2015. He was one
of five children, born to the late Charles and Anna Berendzen on April 13, 1930
in Mary's Home, Missouri.
Papa
Ray worked for Modern Tool and Die in Valley City, Ohio for over 35 years. He
was an avid traveler and particularly loved going to Amish Country. Papa Ray
could often be found listening to country music on the radio and watching
baseball games.
He
loved his stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and his many close friends. In
addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.

He was
born in East Union, Ohio on February 5, 1934 a son of the late Elmer and Mabel

He was a
retired foreman for B & N Coal Company, Dexter City, Ohio, was a farmer,
and proud of his Angus cows. He was a
member of the Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Caldwell, Ohio where he served
as an elder for many years. He was a former 4-H advisor and enjoyed fishing.
In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona
Bettinger, and brother, Charles Bettinger.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years Eva Crum Bettinger, whom he married
on December 24, 1953; two daughters Cynthia (Michael) Daggett of Belpre, Ohio,
Heather (Michael) Bass of Caldwell, Ohio; three sons, Rodney (Darlene)
Bettinger of Caldwell, Ohio, Jeffery (Merna) Bettinger, of Woodsfield, Ohio,

L. (Willis) Betts, age 69, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in
Aultman Hospital. She was born in Alliance, a daughter of the late James and
Freeda (Foith) Willis, and had been a Waynesburg resident 40 years.
Sherry
was a 1964 graduate of Minerva High School. She had been employed at Geauga
Plastics and Catherine's in Canton. Sherry had served as clerk for the village
of Waynesburg for a number of years, and was a member of Sandy Valley American
Legion Post No. 432.
She is
survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Connie Willis of Minerva;
aunts, uncles and cousins; and her good friends, Don and Darlene Russ, Cheryl
Whitcomb and Rebecca Hammond.
Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.

Caledonia – Timothy David Bilger, 56, died Monday, December 28, 2015 in
Columbus. Born on October 7, 1959 in Valdosta, GA, he was the son of Emma
Gretchen Moore Bilger and the late Kenneth D. Bilger.
Mr.
Bilger attended Valdosta High School where he was a member of the Valdosta
Marching Band before moving to Columbus and graduating from Lee High School in
1977. He was a master mechanic and had received many certifications in the
mechanical field. He worked at Waters Truck and Tractor Sales Parts, was the
owner of Tim’s Amoco Service Station and was also a welder at Columbus Rubber
& Gasket until he became disabled. He was a member of First Christian
Church in Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr.
Bilger enjoyed rock music, especially The Eagles. His hobbies included water
skiing, boating, motor sports. He greatly enjoyed the time he was a high school
football referee.
His
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at First
Christian Church, Columbus with Rev. Ed Maurer and Bro. Don Harding
officiating. His Committal Service will be at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, in Haughton
Memorial Park, Amory. Pallbearers will be Randle Flippo, Rex Stokes, Brett
Johnson, Jr., Marcus Johnson, Rick Bilger, Terry Scott, and Parr Colvin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Stokes, Charles Scott Johnson, Paul Scott,
Jason Walace, Bob Taylor, Robert Humphrey and Little Kevin Reese.
He will
lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday from 11 AM until the service hour.

She loved

She gave generously to all her family and touched hearts at Forest Hill Nursing
Care Center where she resided for a few years.

Saturday April 4th. 2015 at Ohio State University Hospital. She was born October 21, 1958 in Tiffin,

Christine
was a former employee of Sycamore Tree Service, and Trillium in Columbus,
Ohio. Christine enjoyed fishing,
hunting, gardening, building models, spending time with her dogs and most of
all spending time with family, she was a loving and caring person to anyone she
met.

addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson; Wyatt Bloom.
She is survived

Don
Jose Boucher Beloved father, grandfather, teacher, football coach, and friend
died February 5, 2015 in Santa Rosa. Born September 17, 1926 in Oakland,
California, he and his mother moved to Ohio when he was 5. After high school he
joined the Army Air Corps to serve his Country during WWII. After the end of
the war he attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio and graduated in
1951 with a teaching degree in Physical Education. He married Molly Ann Becker
that same June. He remained in Springfield where he began his teaching career.
After a couple of years he moved to California and lived in Needles, Los
Angeles, Corte Madera, and finally settled in Lucas Valley. He lived there for
51 years before moving to Santa Rosa. He taught P.E. and coached football at
Redwood High School, Terra Linda High School, Petaluma High School, and Balboa
High School. He continued to coach football at Balboa for several years after
retiring from teaching. He had a passion for football, especially THE Ohio
State Buckeyes, the Oakland Raisers, and the San Francisco 49ers. His hobby was
assembling and painting model soldiers. He particularly enjoyed the Civil War
era and recreated battles with his models.
He was
preceded by his wife Molly Boucher and his son Victor Boucher. He is survived
by two daughters, Mary Crippen of San Jos‚ and Jennifer Schmicher of Las Vegas
NV; four grandchildren, Brandi Hannagan of Sacramento, Ron Schmicher of Santa
Rosa, Chris Schmicher of Rogers, Arkansas, and Megan Crippen of San Jos‚; his
brother Michael Mattimore of Springfield, OH and two nephews, Marc and Eric
Mattimore. His lady friend of 12 years, Barbara Wein also survives him.

Virginia
W. “Wave” Boyd, age 75, of Mount Vernon got her wings on Friday morning, March
20, 2015 at Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was born on September 5, 1939 in
Miltonsburg, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Howiler) Keylor.
Wave was a
1956 graduate of Woodsfield High School and moved to Mount Vernon in 1961 to
work for “Clippies” until its closure in 1970.
Then she drove school bus for the Mount Vernon City Schools for 20
years. After driving bus, Wave went to work for Wenco and retired in 2004. Wave was a member of the Colonial City
Moose Lodge #2555 and former president of the Fraternal Order Eagles #760 in Mount
Vernon.
Wave is
survived by her brothers, Paul (Pat) Keylor of Woodsfield, Marlin (Mary) Keylor
of Jupiter, TN and Bruce (Linda) Keylor of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces,
nephews, and cousins; and many, many friends.
In
addition to her parents, Wave was preceded in death by her husband, John Boyd;
and brother, Richard Keylor Sr.
The family
received friends from 11 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1 p.m.

Selma E. Brown
Age 94,
of Dover, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, in the New Dawn Retirement Community.
Born Feb. 8, 1921 in Sterling, Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late
William and Della (Blatter) Bauman. Selma graduated from high school and went
on to attend the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. She was wed to Overton W.
Brown on Oct. 10, 1952, in Inglewood, Calif. The Browns were missionaries with
the Mission Aviation Fellowship for over twenty years in southern Mexico and
Honduras. Additionally, they worked with the Bible Club Movement in Tuscarawas
County.
Selma
is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Bocnuk of Leesburg, Va.; and
her grandson, Nikolai. In addition to her parents, Selma was preceded in death
by her beloved Overton on Jan. 7, 2013.
Burial

R. Burger, 76, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 8,
2015 in his residence.
He was
born February 14, 1939, in Jasonville, Ind. to Herman Christopher Burger and
Mary Mae (Cooper) Burger.
Harold
married Mary Lee (Null) Burger on April 1, 1959,* and she passed away on July
10, 2011.
Survivors
include his son, John Burger of Jasonville, Ind.; sisters, Betty R. Goodman of
Jasonville, Ind., Barbara L. Null of Jasonville, Ind., Cathy
Burger-Johnson-Christman of Decatur, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Elmer Eugene Burger, Herman
Franklin Burger; sister, Joann Hadley; son, Terry E. Burger.
Harold
worked as a brick maker for different companies and had also worked at
Malleable and Manufacturing in Terre Haute, Ind. He was a member of Blessed
Hope Baptist Church. Harold loved fishing and hunting. He was the happiest when
he could be on a pond. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Sam
Burkhalter died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Atlanta GA. He was residing in
an assisted living facility near his niece since November 2008. He was 96 years
old; born, June 7, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Carl and Ida Fiscus
Burkhalter of Wheeling WV and Clarington, OH.
He was
pre-deceased by two siblings, Thomas Dean Burkhalter and Jane Burkhalter
Speidel and by a step daughter, Judith Lindenau.
He was a
graduate of Triadelphia High School, Wheeling, WV (1936) and the University of
Alabama (1940). He joined the Army for active duty on March 22, 1941 and served
for the duration of WWII, continuing with the Reserves until his retirement as
a full Colonel in 1978.
Sam
enjoyed a career as a mechanical engineer and continued to work as a consultant
after his retirement until 2000. He was a champion marksman; one of the President’s
100 Riflemen and he taught Army instructors for many years.
He was married to Patricia Eaton Burkhalter until her
death in 1970 and to Jean Wood Burkhalter until her death in 1997.

also survived by his stepson, Doug Wood of Moscow, ID and Judith Lindenau’s
children Jonathan and Sara Lindenau.
Sam will
be buried in the Burkhalter family plot in Clarington next to his first wife,
his parents and aunt.

Clarence was a retired farmer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by

Educational Nurse for WVNCC. She was a member of Sardis Church of Christ,
Sardis, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a
son, Barry B. Butler.

an extended illness.
Vaughn, the son of Donald and Margaret (Holloway) Campbell,
was born on November 7, 1939 in Ontario, California. He grew up in the area and
graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, California. He resided in
California for many years moving to Missouri in 1976. He was a member of the
Calvary Baptist Church in Republic, Mo. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic,
retiring from Peterbilt Trucking Company.
Vaughn and Ann Lowther were united in marriage on November
1, 1959. Together they were
privileged to share 56 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Campbell.
He is survived by his wife Ann; son, Paul Campbell, three
daughters: Vonda Brann Campbell, Sonya and husband Barry Trantham, Wanda and
husband Glenn Sees, all of Walnut Grove; 12 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; brother David Campbell of Hesperia, California; and
sister, Kim Finnan of Las Vegas, Nev.
Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00
a.m. in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Walnut Grove, MO with interment to follow in

He was born near
Woodsfield, Ohio on October 13, 1922 a son of the late Lewis P. and Ida Paulus
Christman.
Clayton was a retired farmer and oil field worker. He was
also owner of the former Christman Turkey Farm near Woodsfield, Ohio. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church
of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio. He enjoyed
playing euchre and in his early years playing the fiddle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kimpel Christman
on May 22, 1991; a son, David Christman; four brothers, Nova, Walter, Roy and
John Christman; and a sister, Freda Hamilton.
Surviving are three sons, Clayton Jr. (Mary) Christman of
Clarington, Ohio, Danny (Chris) Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio, Dean Christman
of Woodsfield, Ohio; two daughters, Susan Dick of Powhatan, Ohio, and Holly

Elifrede Christy, 100 of Richwood, died peacefully February
18, 2015 at her home. She was born July
25, 1914, in Graysville to the late James and Ella Mae (Cline) Harmon.
On September 2, 1939, she married Chancy L. Christy in
Woodsfield and moved to Richwood in 1954 where they resided ever since. He died March 16, 2004. They were married 64 years.
She was a very active member of the First United Methodist
Church in Richwood, serving in various capacities, serving on boards as well as
being custodian with her husband. She
was an active volunteer with the Union County Board of Elections. Elifrede loved to read and enjoyed cooking
and baking. She was a great mom and
grandma, and a good friend and neighbor.
She is survived by two sons: James R. (Sandra) Christy, Piqua;
Terry K. (Joyce) Christy, Covington; four grandchildren, Jill (Lee) Arent;
Keith (Lori) Christy; Andy Christy; Laina Christy; and four
great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by three brothers, Greal, Harold and Lloyd Harmon.
Funeral services were February 21, 2015 at the Stofcheck-Ballinger

Frank was owner and proprietor of bowling lanes in Bellaire,
Bridgeport, Moundsville, most noteable The Riviera Lanes in Bellaire, Ohio. He
was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio and a Shadyside
High School graduate, Class of 1938.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Mitchell Circosta on August 14, 2007; sisters, Rose
Santarelli and Mary Vallelonga and brothers, Larry, Nick, Joe and Louis
Circosta.

went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, on May 10, 2015, at
11 a.m., surrounded by her family. She was born in Wright City, Okla., on Dec.
6, 1948, the daughter of John Parker and Ethel Viola Jones Parker.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; two brothers, John C. Parker Jr. and Leonard C. Parker;
and a stepbrother, Roy Shane Moore.
Mary was a member of the Word of Life Church in Sullivan.
She worked at Owens Brockway, also the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. Her
love was her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer D. City; four sons,
Curtis Thompson, and Anthony Thompson (Michelle), all of Texas, Mark Thompson
(Stacy) of Terre Haute, and John Brooks of Virginia; one daughter, Marla
Gadberry of Florida; one stepbrother, Lester Moore of Oklahoma; one sister,

July 6, 2015, at his home. He was born January 10, 1929, in Middleburg, son of

He studied electronics at DeVry Institute in Chicago, and he
was a United States Air Force veteran. He retired in 1992 as a supervisor at
Central Ohio Coal Company following 36 years of service. Mr. Clark was a member
of the Reinersville United Methodist Church, a member of the Sharon Lodge #136,
F&AM, the Valley of Cambridge AASR, 32nd degree mason, the Aladdin Temple
Shrine in Columbus, and he was a member of the Dexter City American Legion Post
#418. He loved to golf and fish.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two
sons, Garry G. Clark and Dennis D. Clark, who died July 8, 2006; one grandson,
Christopher Clark; and three brothers, George Lee Clark, Arthur Leland “Buzz”
Clark, and Raymond Harry Clark.
Surviving are his wife, L. Jolene Long Clark, whom he married
June 18, 1950; his children, Larry L. (Linda) Clark of Reinersville, Randy R.

William C. Clark, age 70, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died
Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.
He was born November 12, 1944, in Noble County, son of the late Little Zedrick
and Rosa Belle Bates Clark.
He was a 1964 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and a
graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. He was a United States
Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Mr. Clark was employed as a village
police officer in Caldwell and as a deputy sheriff for the Noble County
Sheriff’s Department.
He retired in 2008 from the
former Mahle Corporation plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Belle Valley
American Legion Post #641, and the Noble County Cruzers Car Club.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one
son, Josey Lee Clark, who died July 13, 2014; two sisters, Opal Leasure and
Mary LuCinda Anderson; and two brothers, Delbert B. Clark and John Jacob Clark.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Bond Clark, whom he married

Beryl M. Claus, 93, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Tuesday,
May 5, 2015 at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield,
Ohio.
She was born near Calais, Ohio (Christman Ridge) on June
24, 1921 a daughter of the late George L. and Magdalena Matz Christman.
Beryl attended Fox Hollow School, graduated 8th grade
from Monroefield and graduated from Lewisville High School in 1939 as
valedictorian. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Church of
Christ, Lewisville, Ohio where she served as a piano player and Sunday School
teacher.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by
her husband, Wilbert Walter Claus, whom she married September 20, 1947 (60
years of marriage), four sisters; Esther Claus, Gertrude Kahrig, Alma Burkhart,
and Laura Kahrig, three brothers; Clarence, Arthur, and Paul Christman.
Surviving are three sons; Roger (Phyllis) Claus of
Lewisville, Ohio, Dale (Susie) Claus of Columbus, Ohio, and Ray (Debbie) Claus
of Avon, Indiana, six grandchildren; Pam (Jeff) Horner, Russell, Ryan, Ben,
Aaron, and Andrew Claus, four great grandchildren; Jeffrey and Liberti Horner,
Nicholas and Felicity Claus.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home,
37501 S. R. 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 8,
2015.

Clifford Dean Cobb, age 78, of Salesville, Ohio, died
Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was
born November 28, 1937, in Coal Run, son of the late Budd and Clara Mae Gates
Cobb. He was employed by Big Lots in Cambridge in its maintenance department,
and as a truck driver for Goodwill in Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,
being outdoors, doing mechanical work, and he loved old time country music.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one
daughter, Lucretia “Angel” McMasters; four brothers, Earl, Virgil, Ralph, and
Ivan Cobb; his former wife, Margaret Cobb; and his beloved Brittany spaniel,
Brittney.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ann Chonoski Cobb, whom he married
March 22, 1979; his children, Dean (Pam) Cobb of Sydney, Arlene (Richard) Reed,
Darlene (Kevin) Harris, and Linda Ewing, all of Columbus, Roy (Arin) McMasters
of Summerfield, John (Carol) McMasters of Cambridge, and Clarissa McMasters of
Senecaville; one brother, Walter (Shirley) Cobb of Belle Valley; many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins;
and his three beloved dogs, Bissie, Marley, and Duke.

ADA – Carol Jane Colbert passed from this life Sept. 5, 2015,
at the age of 56. Carol was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Ada to her parents, Bernard
Sr. and Bonnie Gray.
Carol has been a longtime resident of Ada. She attended Ada
High School and later graduated from Pontotoc County Vo-tech. Carol met her
late husband, Senator Colbert Jr., in 1984, and they married a few years later.
Carol enjoyed working in her yard and caring for animals.
She loved helping people and was known for a wonderful heart. Carol also
enjoyed in her spare time crafting and taking long walks.
She is survived by her two sons, Christian and Jesse
Colbert of Ada; three sisters, JoAnn and husband Paul DeaVille, Susan Bice,
Linda and husband Lester Albert; four brothers, Frank and Ronald Tarr, Robert and
wife LeQuitta Tarr, and Bill Gary; and a host of longtime friends, neighbors,
nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Gray
Sr. in 1968 and Bonnie Gray in 2000, and husband, Senator H. Colbert Jr. in
2004.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace
Christian Fellowship in Ada.

died Aug. 26, 2015, at age 62 at his home in Radcliff.
He was the son of the late Hattie Whalin* Cook and the late
C.W. Cook.
He is survived by the mother of his sons, Janet Cook; three
sons, David Cook, Jonathan Cook and Joshua Cook; sisters, Betty Hullett and
Marilyn Thompson (C.P.) of Rockfield; brothers, James C. Alford of Rockfield,
William Cook of Bowling Green and Charles Cook (Sherry) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.;
several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Leann Jennings of Bowling
Green.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby
& Son, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 2.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

He was a retired captain for the Monroe County Sheriff's
Department, Woodsfield, Ohio and was owner/operator of Cheyenne Farms,
Jerusalem, Ohio. Bruce was a U.S.
Marine veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 768, Beallsville,
Ohio.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emory and Lena Walters.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Haught Contos whom he
married on April 14, 1990; one daughter, Brandy Contos of Nashville, Tennessee;
one son, Dustin (Angel) Contos of Lenore, West Virginia; two sisters, Karen
(Joe) Stenger of Barnesville, Ohio, Cheryl Stephen of Barnesville, Ohio; two

Rose A. Cunningham (McAlister), 61, of La Porte, Indiana,
passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at IU Health La Porte
Hospital in La Porte.
Rose was born in La Porte on Oct. 17, 1953, to Henry and
Beatrice (Handy) McAlister. After high school, she married Gayle Cunningham,
and worked at American Home Foods in La Porte for about 10 years. After that,
she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Rose enjoyed
listening to country music (especially with her granddaughters), and playing
games with her family.
Rose is survived by her beloved children Jason Cunningham,
Nick Cunningham and Jody Phillips, and two granddaughters Alexandra and Chrissy
Cunningham, all of La Porte. Also surviving are her sisters Nancy Inman of
South Bend and Vickie Swanson of Union Mills; and brothers Henry McAlister and
John McAlister, both of La Porte, Mark McAlister of South Bend and Walter
McAlister of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Christopher
Cunningham; her parents; and her brother Robert McAlister.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday, April 16, 2015, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2456 E. Ind. 2,
Rolling Prairie, Indiana. A time of visitation will be held from 1 p.m.

He was a former employee of Longwell Excavation and
Timber, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Harry enjoyed fishing,
camping, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by
two brothers, Larry and Sonny Dalrymple, and one sister, Janice Matthews.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Rose Nalley Dalrymple,
whom he married on May 1, 1982, three daughters, Lesley (Joshua) Smith of Paden
City, West Virginia, Courtney Dalrymple and her fiancé' Christopher Smathers of

Gladys was a member of the Main Street United Methodist
Church, United Methodist Women and the Working Hearts Sunday School Class. She worked as a seamstress for many
years. She started at Hansy's Mills and
retired from Jonathan Logan. Gladys was
also a member of the Garment Worker's Union.
She was saved at an old fashioned revival service at the age
of 18, and baptized in Captine Creek.
She was a true Proverbs 31 woman to her Lord and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a
daughter, Sandra Kay Hendershot; and six sisters: Pearl Lallathin, Florence
Hossman, Helen Starr, Edith Basford, Doris Warrick and Mary McEndree.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband of 78 years, Virgil
Danford; son, Larry (Sandra) Danford of New Matamoras, Ohio; 7 grandchildren;
24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Robert
Hendershot.

Georgia Irene Dantic age 93, of
Owensboro, passed away October 7, 2015 while under the care of Hospice of
Western Kentucky, surrounded by family and friends. She was born to the late George and Irene Belle Cox April 19, 1922. Georgia was a lifelong member of Breckenridge
Street United Methodist Church and played the organ and piano for numerous
years. She retired from General
Electric after many years of service.
Georgia enjoyed singing, reading her Bible, and family activities.
Georgia was preceded in death by her
husband, Irvin Dantic, one son, Randal Dantic, and eight siblings. She is survived by sons, James (Myrna)
Dantic and Paul Thomas (Idelisa) Dantic; daughter-in-law, Jill Dantic, nine
grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; sister Doris (Rev. Charles)
Bennett, and several nieces and nephews.

the St. John’s Women’s Guild.

brother, Harry Roth, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Foy Turner. Survivors include
her husband of 69 years, Elmer Datkuliak; two sons, Ronald (Karen) Datkuliak of

was born on September 27, 1954 in New Martinsville, WV a son of the late James
Myles Daugherty and Virginia Lasure Daugherty who survives of Woodsfield, OH.
Sherrell was an employee of Sprouse Windows, New Martinsville;
loved to fish and attend flea markets.

wife, Katrina Janeen Grayam on November 5, 2009.

Patricia McSherry Del Paggio, 74, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on January 12, 2015. Born on November 14, 1940 in Parma,
Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William McSherry and Janet Brown and the
wife of the late David Del Paggio.
Pat had an infectious smile and outgoing personality that
always brightened everyone around her. She busied herself with community work
and was very active in her daughters' lives. Pat will be remembered as a
vivacious, energetic, and warm wife, mother, sister, and friend. She truly
brought a smile to every person she ever met.
She is survived by her daughters, Dia Roberts and husband
Hugh Roberts of Winston-Salem (grandchildren Maria and Meredith Roberts), Susan
Fletcher and husband John Fletcher of Candler (grandchildren Regan and Steven
Fletcher), and Cherie Johnson and husband Brian Johnson of Raleigh (Coleman Johnson).
Additionally, she is survived by many siblings: Janet Faye Novak, Roberta
Petznick, Laura DiLallo, Jo Ann Agostinelli, Dan Brown, Betsy Wise, Jim
McSherry, Bill McSherry, and Sali McSherry.
Pat's family greatly appreciates the continued love,
support, and care at Raleigh Rehabilitation Health Center, where she has
resided since 1990.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015
at 2PM at First Presbyterian Church, with family to receive friends following
the service.

Thelma “Sis” Denham, 70, of Brownsville, KY, passed away at
the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. The Edmonson County native was
born on December 14, 1944 to the late Clem and Loretta Hawks Elmore. She was
married to Clifford Denham who survives.
She was a loyal housewife and a member Wingfield United
Baptist Church.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Mike
Denham of Brownsville, KY, and Willie Denham (Anette) of Leitchfield, KY; one
brother H.B. Elmore (Clara Jean) of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Noah

Virginia M. Devore, 86, passed away May 19, 2015. She was a native of Woodsfield, OH and a
resident of Jacksonville for 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert
Edwin Devore, her parents, a sister and an infant brother.
Survivors include one son, three daughters, two sisters, five
grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

John G. Dick, 60, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Tuesday,
January 13, 2015 at his home.
He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on June 12, 1954 a son of
Freda Smithberger Dick who survives of Lewisville, Ohio and the late Clarence
Dick.
He was a mechanic and farmer. He was a member of the former
St. Joseph Catholic Church near Lewisville, Ohio.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters, Mary
(Rodney) Butler of Calais, Ohio, Judy (Troy) Russell of Lewisville, Ohio; six
brothers, Neil (Carolyn) Dick of Lewisville, Ohio, James Dick of Lewisville,
Ohio, Joe Dick of Lewisville, Ohio, Mike Dick of Graysville, Ohio, Louie Dick
of Lewisville, Ohio, Stephen Dick of Lewisville, Ohio; several nieces and
nephews, several great nieces and nephews.

Jane Lenora Dolan of Woodsfield, passed away July 11, 2015 at her
home. She was born in her home in Richmond, Indiana, a daughter of the late
John F. and Leah Watkins.
Jane attended both Barnesville and Woodsfield Church of the
Nazarene where she played piano for both churches. Jane was an ordained
minister for the Church of Christ in Christian Union for which she helped found
a church in Madison, Wisconsin. Jane also held a local preaching license with
different Nazarene churches that she attended over the years. She has written
over 50 gospel songs and published an album of 10 of these songs in 1999.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a
younger brother Charles D. Watkins and two sons-in-law. Jeffery Palfrey and
Patrick Schooley.

Scott of 21 years; four children, Rhonda (Mike) Raver of Carrol, Ohio, Nathan
Simons and life partner Frank of Grove City, Ohio, Carl (Beth) Simons of

Watkins Jr. of Imlay City, Michigan, Joseph W. Watkins of Noblesville, Indiana,

Wisconsin; one sister Leanne Miller of Terre Haute, Indiana, nine
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Richard M. Dollison, 80, of Quaker City, died Sunday, April
12, 2015 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born July 8, 1934 in Calais, Ohio, son of
the late Carl A. Dollison and Elizabeth Carpenter Dollison.
A loving husband and uncle, Richard worked as Purchasing Agent
for Rockwell International and Hamilton Beach and later years, retired from
farming. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Quaker City 0500, the Barnesville
Elks #1699, life time member of the NRA, and served 15 years on the Guernsey
Muskingum Electric Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
brother, Gary Dollison.
Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Dollison of
Quaker City; sister-in-law, Sharron Dollison; nephew, Dr. Carl R. (Lori)
Dollison of Quaker City; niece, Christine (John) Huffstutler; great nieces,
Victoria, Lauren, Caitlin; great nephew, Jack; and his good friend, John
Grissom.
Family and friends will be welcome to visit, Wednesday from 3

Colette A. Dotta, age 87, of Little Hocking, Ohio, formerly of
Clarington, OH, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Arcadia Valley Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, Coolville, OH.
She was born December 12, 1928 in Barnesville, OH, a daughter
of the late Victor and Mildred Keadle Bailey.
She was an owner/operator of Dotta’s IGA and a dental
assistant for Dr. Novak for 25 years, both in Clarington. She was a member of
Immanuel United Church of Christ, Clarington and attended Little Hocking United
Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Ray A. Dotta in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Gerald Slonaker) Lloyd
of Little Hocking, OH; a sister, Nanette Heskett of Fort Jones, CA; 3
grandchildren David Lloyd, Jeff Abney and Kellie Ricker; and 2 great grandchildren,
Jessica and Meghan.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at
1:00pm in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio with Pastor Dewayne Stutler,

Helen Aileen Drake, 102, of Marietta, passed away Jan. 25, 2015,
at Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born April 4, 1912, in Alliance, Ohio to
the late James F. and Ina Waife Cline McHugh.
Helen was a teacher for 43 years for Switzerland of Ohio Local
Schools. She was a member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church, Monroe and
Washington County Retired Teachers Association, Muskingum Garden Club and Reno
Garden Club.
Helen is survived by her daughter Bonnie Jane Forni (David) of
New Matamoras, Ohio, three step-daughters Cindy (Doug) Wittekind, Beverly
(John) Huffman, Nancy (Allan) Tubaugh; one step-son Dean Riley; grandchildren Kyle (Laura) Forni, Glenn
(Adrienne) Forni and Aleesia Forni (John);
seven step-grandchildren; Tommy Keylor, Missy Keylor, Allison (Shane)
Mincks, Yalanda (Rick) Mullen, Alexandra (Scott) Trew, Cassidy
(Kayleigh)Tubaugh and Braison Tubaugh: 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Beryl
Poulton, and Margie Olson; and several
nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her first husband Glenn Dye, second husband Carl Drake, two sisters, a brother,
a step-daughter, two nieces and a nephew.
Helen graduated from Salem High School and Kent State
University. She taught her entire 43 year career in Benton Township, Monroe
County - her first six years in one room schools, then 32 years at Brownsville
School teaching the four primary grades and the later years at Midway
Elementary teaching only 2nd grade. Helen loved teaching and was devoted to her
students.
Helen was widely known for her love of decorating (both her
home and herself), love of gardening, and her generosity. From her daughter,
grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and in-laws to former students,
neighbors and friends, Helen loved them all. She could always be counted on to
remember each one with cards, gifts or a note on their special days.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Hadley Funeral
Home Reno Chapel, Marietta, OH. with Pastor Darla Schnegg officiating. Burial
followed in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, Ohio. Visitation was held Friday,
Jan. 30 at the funeral home.

Teachers Association (WCRTA) Scholarship Fund c/o Becky Nolt, 107 Iroquois Dr.

John Drengacs III, 57, Powhatan Point, died February 3, 2015
at his home. John was born May 5, 1957 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late
John and Shirley Scott Drengacs Jr.
He was employed at Murray Energy’s #6 Mine, was a Protestant
by faith. He was an avid fisherman and bow hunter and a member of the Powhatan
Sportsman Club and the Powhatan Bass Club.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa Ady Drengacs, a daughter
Valerie (Josh) Lude of Rayland, OH and a son Jeremy (Jill) Drengacs of
Wheeling, WV, two grandchildren, Rylee Lude and Gabriel Lude.
Family and friends were received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer
Funeral Homes and Crematory, Powhatan Point, Ohio on Feb. 6, 2015 from 1 p.m. until
time of funeral service at 7 p.m. with Lorna Knight officiating.

Franklin S. Dye of New Matamoras died April 8, 2015. Franklin
was born December 24, 1916 to Forest Hunter Dye and Cora Alma Fox Dye at Dye
Ridge, Benton Township, Monroe County.
He married Mildred Barnhouse April 2, 1937 who predeceased him
on February 7, 2008.
Surviving are their children, a daughter, Norma Jean Antill
and a son, Roger Franklin (Darlene Cline) Dye; grandchildren: Janice (Terry) Pringle, Tammie Jean (Loren)
Rinard, Vickie Turner, Brenda (Mark) Mendenhall, Valerie McPeek, Franklin Dale
(Kim) Antill; great grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Lauer, Lauren (Roman)
Thompson, Marcie (Josh Rockwell) Turner, Tiffany (Tyler) Schumacher, Benjamin
(Megan Pape) Turner, Amy Jean (Chad) Kilburn, Quinton (Alissa) McPeek, Heidi

Deceased are a granddaughter, Rhonda Dye-1959; son-in-law, L.
Dale Antill-2014; siblings: an infant brother-1904; Ruthella Dye-1921; Martha
Rose Dye Winland Cline-2008; Lois Dye Graham-2010; Willis Dye-2012.
He was a husband, dad and grandpa called Bobby for a few years
by the Antill grandchildren. He graduated from Graysville High School and Ohio
University Athens. He was a schoolteacher at Bloomfield, Pine Knob, Fox,
Yankeeburg, Brownsville, Sardis and Hannibal; a general store keeper at Rinard
Mills and Brownsville; a dairy and beef farmer and also shared with his wife
the job of telephone central at Bloomfield. He was an agent and director of the
German Farmer’s Insurance Agency, a former member of Sons of Union Veterans-the
last remaining grandson of Civil War soldier Benjamin Franklin Dye and a member
of Monroe County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations. He
was interested in genealogy, had a memory for telling stories and was known to
quote Anna Bell Lee by Poe to Mildred on April 2, 1995 anniversary.
He was a member of New Matamoras United Methodist Church, Post
Office Box 549; a life member of the Matamoras Area Historical Society, Post
Office Box 1846; a member/organizer of the Jericho Cemetery and Perpetual Care
Association, Post Office Box 46 and a member of the Matamoras Area Senior
Citizens, Post Office Box 604. Donations may be given to any of the above
organizations at the New Matamoras OH 45767 Post Office Box listed.
Calling hours were Sunday, April 12 at Hadley Funeral Home,
Matamoras Chapel.
Service were held Monday, April 13, 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
Dennis Williams officiating. Burial followed in Matamoras Cemetery.
