Notes

Judge Waite was Pres of Bank of the Valley from 1823 - 1845. He was Mayor from 1824 - 1831, and later." p 126, "Winchester, Va, and Its Beginnings," by Greene.

". . . In 1839 OBED WAITE was giving instruction in Hebrew, Spanish and Italian...The Shenandoah Valley Academy is the direct descendant of the old Winchester Academy." p 233, "The Story of Winchester in Va," Morton. Obed WAITE m 2nd SARAH STEWART, sister of CHARLES STEWART, mentioned in will of Obed WAITE.

Obed Waite, the owner at one time of both these properties was a lawyer and a prominent citizen of Winchester, he md Mary Ann Harrison, dau of Mary Wood Harrison, and grandau of Col James Wood.

Deed of sale by heirs of OBED and MARY ANN HARRISON WAITE, dated 3 March 1868: I have concluded the three daughters mentioned therein are: MARIA WAITE SINGLETON, m. W. G. SINGLETON; MARY ANN WAITE, m. lst HENRY ST. GEO. OFFUTT, 2nd ? BURTON; and MARIA VIRGINIA WAITE, m. JOSEPH I. BROWN.

HARRISON WAITE is listed as Executor of his father, OBED WAITE'S will,
