Sister Susan

Now, when you have siblings you care for all of them pretty equal.  Sometimes though, no matter what the reasons or the circumstances, you seem to bond more with one more than the rest.  I guess in this case, it is with this sister.  I remember my dad taking my brother and I to the hospital to see her for the first time.  We could not go in, but Mom was by a window and showed us this beet red little screaming thing.  Yikes!!  It has to come home, to our house??  Yes, she did and we used to fight like cats and dogs.  She would always stuff her toys and clothes under MY bed and when Mom would come to check our bedroom and she ALWAYS looked under the bed, I would be in trouble.  Ok, so the fight was on. . .maybe for this reason she and I bonded more.  Whatever the reason, I love her dearly!!  Susan and I are only 4 1/2 years apart, maybe that is the reason.  I don't care.

These pictures are of my sister Susan and then a few with her and her granddaughter, Jillian.

This was taken in Oregon when we were all there for the mini reunion and she is trying to work her camera to take a picture.

This was taken in the backyard of her oldest daughter's house in Washington.  Those are all natural curls by the way.  I got none and she got them all.  Of course she has brown hair and mine is red.  Hey!  We both have blue eyes though.  We just don't even look alike.  She is almost a foot taller than I am.  That comes mostly from our Dad's side of the family, I am short, like my grandmother.

Susan in front of Castle in Edinburgh.jpg (74730 bytes)

This was taken last December.  My sister and her daughter Marissa went to England for Christmas and paid a visit to Scotland.  This was taken in front of the castle in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Hmm, snow on the ground and she looks cold.

This was also taken last December in Leavenworth, Washington.  I think it is so pretty when it snows.  Although it looks like they are getting quite a bit.  I remember one year my family went to Washington for Christmas so we could have snow.  What a trip, well there was no snow.  So, on the way home, in Oregon, it started snowing.  Well at that point we were not prepared for it so we drove like crazy people to keep ahead of the snow and the storm, and wouldn't you know it, when we got home it had snowed and was still on the ground.  Should have just stayed home, but enjoyed being in Washington at Christmas.  We got to go to Seattle and see the ballet, "The Nutcracker."  So pretty and then, on a couple of the street corners in Seattle they had brass bands playing Christmas songs.  So nice.  It really was a nice trip that year.  This is just my most favorite picture of my sister.  I wish I could have an 8 x 10 of it to hang on the wall.  She just looks so pretty (to me, anyway) and happy.

Here is miss Jillian.  She is two years old here.  Below is a picture of her smooching her grandma.  She sure looks like her mama did when she was little, except her mama had dark hair and Jillian has blonde hair like her daddy.   We call her "Jilly Bean."

Grandma and Jilly smooching.  Such a sweet picture.

This was taken when Jillian was just a baby.

This is one of my most favorite pictures of my sister and my great niece.  It is the reason for the music in the background; "Baby's got her Blue jeans on."  Silly, but when I saw that picture that is the song that came to my mind.

Evans Birthingday.jpg (74512 bytes)

This is a thumbnail and if you click on it, you will go to a bigger picture, but this is when my only great nephew was born.  Evan is his name and you can barely see the top of his head in my sisters arms.  The proud parents are Jeff on the left and Chloe' looking glad it is over.  Now I hear through the family "grapevine" that Chloe and Jeff are expectant parents again.    If this is a race with my sister to see if who can have the most grandchildren, she will win!

This was taken about 4 years ago.  From left to right:  Cousin my cousin, Merry Kay; my  Aunt Jewel Wales and my sister Susan.  I believe it was taken at the Butchart Gardens on Victoria Island in British Columbia, Canada.  My aunt and cousin were on vacation and my sister was giving them the grand tour.

I got to thinking that I sure hope I don't offend my other sisters.  I have two others, Debra and Elizabeth.  It is just that I grew up with Susan.  When we were little we got into trouble together and she is closer to my age that the other sisters.  She was around when my babies came along and helped me with them.  By that time she was in the midst of the "Hippie Era" and I was a working mom.  Our paths have grown ever wider as the years go by.  I would love to live closer so when we are old we can go to the park and sit on a bench and check out the Levi "Wranglers" that go by. . .hehehe.  We could be a couple of obnoxious "old biddies" too!!  So, Sisters dear, I love you all.
