He was anardent Democrat of the Jefferson School, and brought all his boys up wellgrouonded in the party faith.

Mary became depressed after her husband's death. On the evening of hersuicide, she entered the room where her children were sleeping, butcherknife and candle in hand. Whatever were her original intentions, sheended up only killing herself.
