Other people are contacting me occasionally to add to the transcripts that I am putting up. I am more than happy to do this - please provide the paper name and the date if possible. Contact us on: [email protected]
I am constantly reviewing this web site and looking for ways to improve it - you will notice some navigation changes and some format changes.

These pages are very crudely formatted copies from newsgroup postings that are copied as they were sent, with minor changes, to the website.

The origin of this information can be found in emails from Bev Edmonds to the Rootsweb Aust + NZ mail list. or soc.genealogy.aust+nz on your friendly newsgroup reader.

I started out indexing the Qld newspapers but with the advances in web searching it has proven to be a pointless exercise as you can search the web just as easily as you can read an index.  I am not in a position to publish an index so will have to leave it up to the website to suffice.

  • Bev Edmonds: Bev has a shed full of old newspapers (late 1800's) that she drags up to the house, types up parts that may have an interest and puts the papers back in the shed. The papers are available in most state libraries on microfilm.
Bev has a better description of what she does in her introduction.
  • Chris Bryce: Chris has access to some papers from NSW in 1950's and is adding bits that may have an interest to people for family history.
  • Kathy Pearson - she is slowly typing up the Greville's Post Office Directories from 1872
  • Peter & Liz Pidgeon - are avid collector's of the Australian Women's Weekly and are collecting the current and recent "Where are they now?" columns from that publication

If you want to contribute to this website please type up the newspaper clipping you have, quoting the Newspaper name and date, and email it to me. Many thanks to Sylvia Rawlings who had collected every transcript recently sent to the Aust+NZ list and passed them to me. Thanks to the contributors who have given me permission to publish them. I am only putting up Australian Transcripts at the moment.
