Durward John (Butch)⁸ Hegland (Anton⁷, Thor Mikkel⁶, Mikkel Torgerson Gastjonn⁵, Targei Mandt⁴ Gastjonn, Olav Mikkelson³ Mandt, Mikkel Larrison², Lauritz (Lars) Rasmusson¹) was born in McIntosh, MN August 4, 1921. Durward died December 20, 1994 in Fargo ND, at 73 years of age. His body was interred December 23, 1994 in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Ft Abraham Lincoln State Park, Mandan ND. He married twice. He married Kathryn Roberson on September 7, 1946.  She died June 11, 2003. He married Kay in November, 1968.

Durward John (Butch) Hegland and Kathryn Roberson had the following children:
