THE GREAT PHILADELPHIA WAGON ROAD
| The map below shows the main travel route between Philadelphia and Roanoke Virginia where the road splits into the Wilderness Road and continues on to South Carolina. This is possible the route that our ancestors took to travel from the Pennsylvania area to the central part of North Carolina. The road parallels essentially Interstate Rt. 81 from Harrisburg, PA through Maryland and Virginia. The section from Roanoke South to South Carolina is close to Interstate 77 and Route 29 in North Carolina. |
