He was witness to the two martyrs WILSON and M'LAUGHLIN and left 70children and grandchildren alive and 30 dead, according to his
tombstone. The Penninghame MI transcript reads "A light colouredsandstone copperplate script. Here lies James Heron in Carsnestock whodied the 31 st October 1758 aged 94 years and Marion Shan (sic) hisspouse who died the 10th of March 1748 aged 70 years old. Also Mary, Jeanand Ann Herons their children. They left 70 children and Gr childr aliveand 30 dead. "Thes heros hwo were worthy of renoune Who fought the fightand now doth wear the crown."
