His monument inscription reads "Erected to the memory of Alexander HERONlate in Newton Stewrat who died the 18th of April 1808 aged 75 years.Also of Margaret HERON his spouse who died 9th July 1826 aged 82 yrs.Also their son Peter HERON who died 2nd November 1852 aged 75 yrs. Alsotheir son James HERON who died at Newton Stewart on the 3rd of December1869 aged 84 yrs."
Monument inscription refers to her as Margaret HERON, which may have beenher maiden name! i.e. she may have married a cousin-germain, AlexanderHERON.
Died aged 82 years.
