1950, June 22: "Judge Rainbow, in the Worker's Compensation Courtyesterday, awarded by consent, L1,100 to Mrs. Marjorie Sorella (sic)Powell Hyslop, of Station Street, St. Mary's, as compensation for thedeath of her husband, John Alexander Hyslop, aged 58, linesman assistant,formerly employed by the penrith Municipal Council. On January 16, 1950,at St. Mary's, Hyslop was removing telephone poles from the ground usinga hand winch, requiring severe effort and strain, He collapsed, sufferinga coronary occlusion, and died eight days later.
