Andrew was the second and eldest surviving son of Patrick HERON who wasthe eldest surviving son of Andrew HERON. He studied for the medicalprofession at Bath, became a surgeon and went to the West Indies whereall trace of him was lost, and he was naturally supposed to be dead. After a lengthened absence, without any communication with his family orfriends at home, he at last returned, claimed and recovered the property(Bargaly), but not without trouble, as he had to go to law, and it isstated that witnesses were got up to prove that he was an imposter thereal Andrew HERON having died in Jamaica. He however sustained hisrights. He had sasine on Apr 8 1764 and August 4, 1764, but thesuccession was not settled until 1770 after a law suit with Patrick, hisuncle. We find Andrew HERON styled Doctor of Medicine in London. Dr.Heron soon tired of a life in Galloway and sold Bargaly to William HANNAYwho then sold the lands to James M'KIE who was in possession in 1799.James M'KIE died on February 29, 1816. It is believed that M'KIE was adescendent of the M'KIEs of Larg, and that a John M'KIE by MargaretMURRAY had issue James, who married Ann M'CAW and had issue John.(McKerlie).
Andrew was twice married and may have had three children.
