'PortWilliam Soldier Killed'
A telegram was received in PortWilliam on Tuesday morning, stating thatPte. William Heron, only son of Mrs. Heron, high St., had been killed inaction in France about the end of last week. Previous to the outbreak ofwar, Pte. Heron was in the Glasgow Constabulary and joined the ScotsGuards at the beginning of the war. He was a young man of much promiseand much sympathy is felt for his widowed mother and sisters.
