Patrick got Kirrouchtrie
The first reference to the HERONs of Kirrouchtrie having anything to dowith the West Indies is when he was 20 years old, Patrick had a bastardson. About 1662, Patrick HERON "in his rambling yeirs, he gott a boyupon a country girl". When old enough, this boy was sent to sea andmarried well in Liverpool. Out of that port he commanded a large ship.At last the young man settled in Bermuda. Wishing to revisit his nativeland, sailed home with his only child; but when a few leagues from theshore, the boat sank and the only survivor was a young negro boy.

Also Margaret HERON, Patrick HERON Sr.'s sister married a JamesLIDDERDALE whose son Thomas LIDDERDALE (b. 1690) went to the West Indiesand 'made a fortune'.

Also Patrick HERON Sr.'s grandson, (Alexander HERON b. 1707) joined theDutch army as a cadet, and served for two years in Flanders. He returned,and his father got him a lieutenancy in an independent regiment inBermuda. He married a brother officer's widow with two children. Thename is not given. No issue. (McKerlie)

Also Patrick HERON's brother, Andrew had a son Patrick HERON who became aCaptain of a ship (qv)

As for Patrick, himself, he succeeded (his brother John). "In fact, themanagement was left by their father to Patrick who at this time wasgreatly employed in managing the parks at Baldoon, parish of Kirkinnerand in taking large droves of cattle to the south of England."(TheBaldoon estate was owned at this time by Sir David DUNBAR). Patrickmarried Margaret, daughter of Provost Stewart of Wigtoun. She died earlywithout issue. (1697: at Baldoon)

When he succeeded his brother John, he left Baldoon a year afterwards andsettled at Kirrouchtrie.

In 1682, Patrick HERON of Littlepark had his life and property forfeitedfor not conforming to prelacy. A document "Bill of Forfeiture" dated1681-1682 by King Charles II names some McCLELLANDs along with an unknownHERON of Little Park having to forfeit their lands as a consequence oftheir 'treasonous' participation in the Battle of Bothwell Bridge in1679, a Covenanter's revolt. His father Andrew HERON of Kirrouchtrie wasdealt with and fined 5000 merks for harboring his second son Patrick whohad been a ring-leader at Bothwell Bridge.

March 1693, Patrick HERON of Kirouchtrie had sasine of the land andbarony of Larg, and Monnygaffe, etc., thus evidently absorbing all theprevious wadsets. Succeeded his father in 1696. March 3, 1704, PatrickHERON, elder had sasine of the land of St. Marie Isle and Jordiland,etc., and on the 13th July following, James LIDDERDALE of St. Mary Islehad sasine of the same. (McKerlie)
