1801: a merchant in Ayr when his mother died.
Burns was also supposed to have been a friend of a William HERON (1769 -xxxx) of Newton Stewart, but I have found no evidence to support thisstatement and it is unlikely that he was, because Burns was at least 10years older than William.
Died aged 61 years old. On the same stone of his was the name WilliamMcKIE died 5 February 1857, aged 82 years.
