James HYSLOP was the natural son of Andrew HYSLOP and Margaret McCOLM andborn James McCOLM. Changed his last name to HYSLOP. He was not raised byAndrew HYSLOP, but by the McCOLMs and James McCUBBIN, his step-father.

James Hyslop HERON (1906-) remembered a McCUBBIN woman who lived on JamesHYSLOP's 'Wellhouse' farm and it is believed that James HYSLOP's mother(Margaret McCOLM) eventually lived with him on his farm at 'Wellhouse'under her married name McCUBBIN.
