Third son of Andrew HERON of Kirrochtrie. His father gave Bargally tohim.
For three years after his marriage, he lived with his parents atKirrochtrie. He left on taking a tack (tenancy) of the Mains of Largfarm when McKIE of Larg died. Seven years later after a dispute with theLargs moved with his family to Bargally 15 May 1691.
In May 15, 1691, Andrew HERON had sasine of the two merk land ofGlenmure, otherwise Bargalie and pertinents (i.e. moved to Bargaly). Hewas the youngest surviving son of Andrew Heron of Kirrouchtree. The landwas left to him by his father and besides Bargaly, comprised Barhoise andDallash-Cairns.
Married firstly, Mary GRAHAME of Floristown, daughter of William GRAHAMEof Floristown. For three years after his marriage he lived with hisparents at Kirrouchtree. He left on taking a tack of the mains of Largfarm, etc.
October 7, 1684: Andrew HERRON of Larg and others were accused of beingsympathetic with the local covenanters and was ordered to appear beforeJohn GRAHAM of Claverhouse at Kirkcudburgh tolbooth for questioning.(Register of the Privy Council of Scotland, 1684)
1684 October 15: in Larg, Barony of Larg and town of Minnigaff,Minnigaff, Wigtownshire.
In 1693, the orchard dyke entry and gate were built and in 1694 fruittrees were planted. Andrew "was a botanist of such repute that Loudon,the author of 'Arboretum et Fruiticetum Britannicum' devotes many pagesto him in that well-known work, and is at pains to give an outline of hisfamily history"
In Apr 1695, on succeeding his father Andrew HERON, he built a residencein the Holme, the stones being from a quarry at the east side of theorchard. A pigeon house, etc. were built in 1697 and 1700. His twoyoungest children were born at Bargaly.

In Feb 1706, Mary GRAHAME his first wife died. Finding as stated "aninconvenience of keeping house in the state of a widower, and manydamages arising to him yearly, after two full years single" he remarriedon April 1, 1708, Margaret McKIE relict (widow) of John McKIE of Larg,his cousin-german.
June 21, 1720 mortgaged Bargaly to his nephew Patrick HERON
1726 Andrew HERON quarrelled with his eldest son Andrew 'who had marrieda young lady of his own choice' and resolved to disinherit him and tosettle his estates upon Captain Patrick HERON, his second son. In theevent of Capt. Patrick's death, the estate was to go to the Captain's sonDr. Andrew HERON
At the death of Andrew HERON, senior, all his sons having predeceasedhim, the next heir was the eldest surviving son of Patrick, who happenedto be an Andrew. (McKerlie)
